Coming to a home where you're there waiting inside,
A meal for two while watching movies felt right,
Laying on the bed with you by my side,
If this is not heaven I wonder what heaven's like

Laugher echoes in this tiny room,
Dancing happily to our favorite song,
The smile on your face that somewhat felt wrong,
As I tried to touch you,
You disappeared with the end of the song.

I tried to escape this reality,
The reality where you're gone and I'm alone,
Where did you go? Have I done something wrong?
It's cold, This place is so empty.

Life must go on, but outside is more crowded,
Being in our room i move much more freely,
It's been a while since i saw you fresh in front of me,
This you is real but the ghost at home becomes my reality.

โ€ข Take advantage of resources: From academic support services to career counseling, there are plenty of resources available on campus to help you succeed. Don't be afraid to reach out for help when you need it.

โ€ข Stay healthy: College can be stressful, but it's important to take care of yourself both mentally and physically. Make time for exercise, get enough sleep, and practice self-care to stay balanced.

โ€ข Have fun: While academics are important, it's also important to enjoy your time on campus and make lasting memories. Attend social events, explore the area around campus, and take advantage of all the opportunities available to you.

Preparing Student Nurses for the Future

Headed by the Dean of the College of Nursing, Redemptor Jimeno, the College of Nursing oriented their student nurses regarding the expected activities for the 2nd semester of the Academic Year 2023 - 2024.

The students toured around the important rooms and facilities in the nursing department which was led by Sir Jayson Soriano and other Clinical Instructors. After the tour, the students gathered at Tindalo Hall for the main activity.

During the activity, the Clinical Instructors were introduced one by one to the students, starting from the old to the new ones. The student nurses also familiarized themselves with the new instructors as they were informed of their roles in the department.

The Dean then discussed about the importance of the fundamentals of nursing to the first level student nurses as it will be very significant in their first step in entering the clinical field. Learning the necessary skills makes a huge advantage in preparing them for their upcoming clinical rotations.

For the second level and beyond, they were briefed regarding the do's and dont's inside the hospital. Learning these basic principles and policies may aid them in performing safe nursing actions to their clients. The Dean emphasized about the knowledge, skills, attitudes that each student nurses should possess.

Then, the student nurses are informed about their respective duty areas in different affiliate institutions/hospitals. Face-to-face classes was also discussed to the students as the university, once again, revert back to the former style of education.

This important activity was indeed successful in reorienting the student nurses of the important activities and events that they will face this upcoming semester and the skills that they will be needing for their clinical rotation, preparing them unto the world of healthcare.

Look: Related Learning Experience (RLE) Orientation 2024 for the CONSOM Department

As the first week of the year begins, the College of Nursing and School of Midwifery are headstarting with a general orientation of their respective Related Learning Experience and Return Demonstration Skills Preparation. Spearheaded by Dean Redemptor Jimeno and the whole CONSOM faculty on January 6, 2024, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., held at Tindallo Hall with a scheduled time frame per year level.

Announced and introduced were the new members of the faculty from different hospitals and the year level they will handle. Participated by the different year levels of CONSOM students and transferees for this academic year. Hospital affiliations were also tackled, as were specialized areas for higher levels, major rotation plans, and highlights of the intensive skills preparation for the upcoming semester.

As the orientation progressed, Dean Red reminded everyone of the true essence of such learning experiences. To always inculcate our Perpetualite identity wherever and whenever we are. And he put his emphasis on exercising courteousness, compassion, and competence.

This event plays a crucial role in equipping future nurses, especially first-year students, by delving into the significance of laboratory skills. Emphasizing the dos and dont's during practice preparation. It underscores the importance of approachability, starting at home and extending to school, encouraging
students to greet their dean, instructors, and even other school staffs.

As the new year dawned, dreams sparkled bright. Hopes surged with fireworks' dance, promising a joyful year.

Reflect, dear soul, on the unfolding tale. Did plans smoothly unite, like a well-rehearsed play? "Did visions match the sunrise" in the theater of aspirations?

Check withinโ€”are you content or do shadows linger? Did unexpected beauty bloom in the fabric of time? Seek answers, for both silver and gold script unique stories.

If plans falter, find comfort in the unplanned. Threads of chance weave a special tapestry. Embrace change, for strength endures even as goals shift. Let the winds of change blow freely; beauty often arises unexpectedly.

The University of Perpetual Help System Laguna-Isabela Campus revisited the Ilagan Natives 'Agtas' at Lupigue, Ilagan City, Isabela, on December 22, 2023, as they conducted their Disyembregalo 2023 event. The university has consistently carried out its outreach program, called "Disyembregalo," every December for the past 11 years.

The university has shown a heartwarming gesture by taking the initiative to prepare relief packages and Noche Buena bundles for those who are in need. The university intends to offer support and bring happiness to individuals as they celebrate the upcoming Christmas and New Year celebrations with these considerate gifts. The university arranged a special program that included a series of games for the 'Agtas' to enjoy and appreciate. The purpose of these activities was to elicit feelings of happiness and joy among the participants. Several groups within the school, including the SPS department, Supreme Student Council, Perpetual Gazette members, and other staff of the school, organized the initiative to provide goods to the Agtas, an indigenous community. These committed individuals joined forces to take charge of the program and guarantee its success. The combined efforts of everyone involved led to the successful distribution of essential supplies to the Agtas, which had a positive impact on their community.

Mr. Jaycy T. Calagui and Mrs. Richelle R. Pabualan are overjoyed to see 'Rico.' He is an Agta who feels like a son to them. Over the years, as they have been visiting, they have witnessed his growth and development. They are delighted to learn that he now has a wife, who is pregnant, and that he is about to start his own family.

This yearly program shows that humanity still exists, and it gives us hope that many people will continue to help others. Although it may be a small gift for us, the sight of their smiling faces, teary eyes, and excited reactions will bring them joy on Christmas day. Although these gifts may be small, they have a big impact on the recipients, encouraging them to keep going and reminding them that there are still good people in the world.

Amidst the jumble of ideas, one question remains: Are we genuinely happy or merely acting the part?
Could we discover true happiness or fleeing illusions in the scenarios my imagination has beautifully created?

A detailed depiction in every mental frame
The truth, however, may lie beneath the surface.
Amidst the light of truth, are we dancing with joy, or are we enchanted by fleeting dreams?

Like a skilled weaver, the mind spins its tale, creating feelings and launching happiness.
But in this mental theater, we have to ask, Is joy real or just a mirage?

In the world of introspection's gentle glow, we traverse the depths where emotions flow. We seek what is true and pursue righteousness in everything we do under the guidance of its wisdom.
In a realm of illusions, where scenes are finely laid out, a quest for true happiness, like a serenade, is played.

From November 27 to December 1, 2023, the UPHSL-IC's Office of Religious Affairs conducted a Values Inculcation Program for first-year students enrolled in the Filipino Christian Living course. The program aimed to encourage students to reflect on how they are perceived by others and how to navigate life's challenges. The program's facilitators were referred to as Brother Ace, Brother JP, and Brother Reden.

Brother JP started the first part of the session by explaining the meaning of STOP; Silence, Think, Open, and Pray, and then he asked students to draw something that best represents themselves, after which Brother stated, "The best thing that represents you is YOU."

Afterwards, Brother Ace was assigned to start the second session and he asked about one of the taglines in a Nescafe advertisement, "PARA KANINO KA BUMABANGON", he said, "Bumangon para hindi lang sa sarili... when we wake up, it is a grace from God that we use our life." He also said that, โ€œSa bawat brokeness natin we become useful, tulad ng itlog na hindi mo makakakain hanggat hindi mo ito binibitakโ€.

Brother Redenโ€™s part highlights the phrase: problems are part of our living. "OKAY LANG HINDI MAGING OKAY"- He emphasized that sometimes, it's okay not to be okay, sometimes we need to encounter problems and challenges because they are helpful too. These are just part of our living for us to grow more, be formed as truly devoted Christians, and bloom where we are planted.

Following a thoughtful and contemplative discussion, Brother Reden requested each student introspect and contemplate their actions towards their families, friends, neighbors, and God. This solemn and peaceful exercise resulted in several students crying as they reflected on their past experiences.

Following the session, Brother JP facilitated a drawing exercise where each student was tasked with illustrating a hand on the activity sheet. The drawing included the students' strengths, dreams aspirations, sources of inspiration, obstacles hindering their life goals, and weaknesses.

For the last activity, all of the students played a race. This activity helps every student to realize that it doesnโ€™t matter if you finished first, the important thing is that you still finish the race.

Toward the end of the program, Brother JP shared a quote that resonated with many: "We must not focus on our weaknesses. Instead, we should acknowledge our gifts and uniqueness." Challenges in life should not impede our progress since the greater the calling, the greater the victory.

Participating in this type of activity can greatly enhance one's knowledge. Students are given the chance to express themselves without fear of judgment. Through the presence of family members, each student learns how to relay their personal experiences. This also serves as a reminder that despite life's uncertainties, there is always someone to hold on to โ€“ God. With Him, they can rest assured that they are in good hands.
