However, SMCC Phoenix will still have the chance to compete on their next game against the loser teams tomorrow, December 9.

Today, we celebrate the Immaculate Conception of Mary, which is celebrated on December 8th every year. It is a day dedicated to the belief that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was conceived without original sin.

It is a day of great reverence in the Catholic Church, and many parishes hold special masses and prayers to honor the Immaculate Conception. It is also a public holiday in many countries with Catholic populations, including the Philippines.

The celebration of the Immaculate Conception is a reminder of the beauty and purity of Mary's soul. Catholics believe that she is the mother of God and the model of the Church, and her immaculate conception is a symbol of God's love for humanity. By being born without original sin, Mary could become the vessel through which God entered our world fully.

Overall, the celebration of the Immaculate Conception is a joyous and meaningful occasion for Catholics worldwide. It is a time to come together and contemplate the miraculous event that brought Mary into the world, free from the stain of sin.

Catbalogan City – Battling tickets to regional matches, St. Mary’s College of Catbalogan (SMCC) Phoenix joins the Catbalogan City Athletic Association (CCAA) Meet Parade at Catbalogan City Proper today, December 8, 2023.

Over 50 student-athletes delegates from SMCC will compete in the CCAA Meet to above 20 participating schools in the division of Catbalogan City.

Student-Athletes are currently witnessing the opening program of the said meet at the Division Office Grounds, Payao, Catbalogan City.

CCAA Meet will run for three (3) consecutive days, December 8-10, Friday to Sunday.

Athletes who will conquer the championship battles are set to participate in the Eastern Visayas Athletic Association Meet.

On December 6th - as we approach the celebration of the birth of Jesus, today marks the commemoration of Saint Nicholas, a revered bishop known for his altruism, particularly towards children and those in need. He was renowned for his discreet and generous giving, often bestowing gifts anonymously, fostering a spirit of benevolence.

The essence of this day lies in bringing people together as they express their love through the exchange of gifts. Saint Nicholas, recognized for his selfless acts, performed numerous kind and generous deeds in secret, expecting nothing in return. Within a century of his passing, he was honored as a saint.

As we reflect on the legacy of Saint Nicholas, his legacy continues to inspire acts of kindness and generosity, emphasizing the joy of giving without seeking recognition.

Annually marked on December 1st, World AIDS Day is a worldwide movement geared toward elevating public’s awareness regarding HIV/AIDS and various avenues of prevention to avert this lethal and intractable disease.

This initiative has progressively grown to be one of the most avid worldwide healthcare campaigns to raise awareness that also highlights the diversity, tenacity, and firmness of the HIV community.

Substantially memorializing this momentous event, we can eradicate the stigmas that are embedded within this illness, honour the individuals who have passed away, and acknowledge the activists who have diligently driven modification throughout the time.

Ngayong araw na ito, nagmamarka ang talino, tapang, at kasarinlan ng ating bansa dahil sa ating tanyag na bayani na si Andres Bonifacio. Si Bonifacio ay isang nasyonalista at kilala bilang isang pinuno sa kasagsagan ng rebolusyon ng mga pilipino noong panahon ng pananakop ng mga espanyol kaya’y siya ay tinaguriang “Ama ng Rebolusyon sa Pilipinas.” Si Bonifacio ay isa rin sa mga nagtatag sa Kataastaasan, Kagalanggalangang Katipunan o mas kilala bilang “K*K” at ‘di nagtagal, siya ang naging Supremo o Presidente nito. Ang K*K ay isang gobyerno ng rebolusyon na naglalayong lumaban tungo sa kalayaan laban sa pamumunong kolonyal ng Espanya.

Dahil sa matapang na hakbang na ito ni Bonifacio, siya ay dinakip at ikunulong ng mga Espanyol at kalaunay pinatay sa pamamagitan ng pagbitay noong 1897 sa utos ng mga konseho ng Espanya.

Nagdaan ang mga taon at nakamit na ng ating bansa ang minimithing kalayaan. Bagamat hindi ito naabotan ni Bonifacio, ‘di maikakaila na ang tapang at pagsasakripisyo ng buhay ay isa sa mga naging daan at haligi kung bakit ating nakuha ang kalayaan ng Pilipinas.

Nawa’y hindi mawala at manatiling nakaukit sa mapa ng kasaysayan ng ating bansa ang mga walang takot na hakbang na ipinamalas ni Andres Bonifacio para sa kasarinlan at kapayapaan ng Pilipinas. At nawa’y maipasa ang katangiang pagiging makabansa ni Bonifacio sa kasalukuyan at sa susunod na henerasyon ng mga Pilipino.

𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | English Club Launches Month-Long Celebration

In accordance to the celebration of National English Month, St. Mary’s College of Catbalogan’s English Club launched its month-long festivity at the Campus on Friday, November 10, 2023.

Club President, Ria Sofia C. Panilaga appeared in the event with an opening remark saying she is delighted to welcome her Ignacian-Marian community in the launching of their month-long celebration.

“This celebration is not merely an event, this is a testament to our collective commitment to fostering a community where every voice resonates with the spirit of unity, education, and an impactful advocacy,” Panilaga added.

Said event were supervised by the Club Moderators, Ms. Mary Anne Claveles and Ms. Ma. Gelona J. Lebreja together with the club’s members and officials.

Said launching concluded with a closing remark uttered by the club’s Vice President, Panver K. Sangha.

“May the spirit of unity and the bonds still ignite all throughout this month-long celebration,” Sangha said in her remark.

The club’s month-long celebration will air from November 10 to November 29.

November 1st – People annually come together to celebrate All Saints’ Day for it is a significant and solemn holiday that pays tribute to Saints who had a profound contribution during their time and as they are the anchors who act as spiritual guides, mentors, and a paradigm of faith.

This day's essence is to commemorate the lives of those who exemplified holiness through living a life and like how God has taught us. All Saints’ Day serves as a time for us to reflect on the lives of these religious figures and to also strengthen our faith through our own spiritual journeys.

All Saints’ Day is a time that brings communities together in a shared expression of faith, love, and gratitude for those who have gone before us. Let's use this day to say grace for they have left a historic legacy that will not be forgotten on the hearts and memories of the people.

As announced by our school president, there will be NO CLASSES in all levels starting from October 30 to November 3, because of events that will happen.

On October 30, there will be an election for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan, and on November 1 & 2, we commemorate All Saints Day and All Souls Day.

With charismatic faces and eloquent speeches, Harley Batlangao and Fhaulhen Jane Barcelon crowned as Mr. & Ms. St. Mary’s College of Catbalogan (SMCC) 2023 during the Coronation Night on Thursday, October 26, 2023.

Aside from securing the title of Ms. SMCC, Barcelon also garnered two (2) special awards and four (4) sponsored awards including Ms. Eloquence, Ms. Popularity, Ms. Imaree Aesthetic, Ms. City Splash, Ms. Alvin Transit, and a full scholarship from LET to PARC.

Along with Barcelon, Mr. Batlangao from College Department who represented Perseus’ team also received multiple special honors and sponsored awards from different local businesses.

Mr. SMCC Faith & Ms. SMCC’s reigning title holders Mr. Bryan Morillo and Ms. Shee Jay Axyne Borinaga graced the coronation night with a farewell message just through a video presentations due to minor issues.

Former Pinoy Big Brother–season 10 housemate Ms. Isabel Laohoo made a surprise appearance during the event’s coronation night.

The Mr. & Ms. SMCC contest was last held in November 2021.

Due to covid-19 restrictions, Mr. and Ms. SMCC competition of school years 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 were not approved by the school administrators resulting to cancellation of the pageant for two consecutive years.

Prepare to be shined by celestial brilliance as St. Marys College of Catbalogan’s finest talents prepare to take center stage in the search for Mr. and Ms. SMCC. This cosmic extravaganza, part of the starry-themed intramurals, is ready to light up the night sky tonight at 6 PM in epic fashion.

Titled ‘A Night of Elegance and Talent under the Stars,’ this event will be a cosmic convergence of grace, eloquence, and skill, truly embodying the celestial essence. Contestants will enchant and amaze the audience with their talents, elegance, and unwavering faith while embracing the values of camaraderie, excellence, and service.

The crown and title contenders have been polished to shine like dazzling constellations in the night sky. A panel of esteemed judges faces the exciting task of choosing the next Mr. and Ms. SMCC who much like the brightest stars and will radiate their brilliance throughout the year.

As this celestial night unfolds, the stars of our show will soon be crowned under the same awe-inspiring celestial canopy they've graced so magnificently. These celestial titleholders won't simply twinkle in the spotlight; they'll represent SMCC at various events with enthusiasm, fostering community spirit, and championing service projects, leaving an enduring and inspiring impact.

Join us at the SMCC Auditorium at 6 PM for a night under the breathtaking celestial canopy, celebrating talent, beauty, and the spirit of camaraderie in the most spectacular way.

After two months of celebration, Holy Rosary culminated its month-long celebration at Mother Ignacia Auditorium which took place on Monday, October 23, 2023.

Highlight of the event was the ‘Living Rosary’ wherein the auditorium was organized to be a rosary-beads-like theme designed for students who were in clad portraying different religious figures.

The culmination featured several prayers including the ‘Luminous Mysteries’ which gives honor to the blessed Virgin Mary and one that aims to bring an end to the Israel and Hamas’ dispute.

Further, students who participated in the month’s activities were acknowledged with a giving of certificates.

The said program was spearheaded by Christian Formation Center coordinator, S. Ma. Jane A. Alindajao together with Mr. Zanrick Abadiano, Mr. Arjel Verba, Ms. Jessebelle Abadiano, and Ms. Salve Sabuco.

St. Mary’s College of Catbalogan Inc. launched Intramural General Rehearsals at the campus earlier today.

The rehearsals were one of the preparations prior to the highly anticipated intramural of the year which will begin on Oct. 25-28 in SMCC Sports Complex.

Said event were spearheaded by the school president, S. Ma. Adelaida C. Huiso, RVM together with Mr. Johnrick Abadiano, Ms. Estefanie Diocton, and Ms. Jeanrose Jabon, basic education coordinators.

𝙎𝘾𝘾, 𝙎𝙎𝘾 𝙗𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙨 𝙈𝙧. & 𝙈𝙨. 𝙎𝙈𝘾𝘾 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙢 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣

Student Coordinating Council (SCC) and Supreme Student Council (SSC) commenced Mr. & Ms. SMCC preliminary competition at St. Mary’s College of Catbalogan’s Function Room today, October 20.

Said competition were comprised of picture interpretation and showcasing of talents. Advocacy Film viewing was also part of it.

Mr. & Ms. SMCC is one of several major events that both SCC and SSC have organized for the upcoming intramural meet of the year which will be held on Oct. 25-28.

The Senior High and College Departments are merged in this competition.

Announcing of winners and special awards will be held in the pageant’s coronation night which will take place on Thursday, October 26.

As the month of October arises, we are reminded of the color pink since it symbolizes Breast Cancer Awareness Month. A time to increase attention of and support for remedies, therapies, education, and other initiatives.

The problems and threats that individuals with breast cancer face, as well as how others from all over the globe are recognized and highlighted throughout the entire month, showing our love and compassion for those who have been touched by this significant disease.

As we Marians with a pink heart upon us, let’s take the opportunity to unite in the fight against breast cancer, honor survivors, raise awareness, educate one another, pray and support those who are affected by it.

Today, the Catholic Church celebrates the annual feast of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary.
By cause of this liturgical feast, the Catholic Church devotes the month of October to the Most Holy Rosary. The church inaugurated this feast to commend the Blessed Virgin Mary in gratitude for the tutelage that she bestows upon the Church in rejoinder to the praying of the Rosary by the faithful.

The shrine holds a spesh celebration at the end of October to mark the conclusion of the rosary month. A Living Rosary is typically organized by the shrine. The shrine congregates worshippers, customarily children and youth, into the physical shape of a rosary, where each person stands in for one prayer bead, while the group prays aloud.

The Living Rosary rouses us that we are not forlorn in our prayers. Analogous to the praying of novena, our discrete prayer can become something colossal when we consolidate it with the prayers of others. The Living Rosary function as an admonition that we partake in the grand redemptive mystery of Jesus and Mary's lives by living the rosary, not only praying it.

This 2021 despite the pandemic, and together with the whole Philippines, SMCC is also celebrating the 30th National Arts Month which seeks to conserve, promote, and popularize Filipino artistic creations. Anchored with the theme “Alab-sining, Alay-sigla: Harness the arts as catalysts for values education,” this aims to provide opportunities for Ignacian-Marians to harness their creative energies in uplifting the nation’s spirit, especially during this time of public health crisis. Activities are preferred to be conducted online for everyone’s safety and to continue to engage all Ignacian-Marian students to participate in the comfort of their very homes. The activities are from the concerted effort of the three clubs, Dance, Young Artist’ and Sports, headed by the club moderators, to plot and harvest all creative pursuits directed towards the month-long celebration.
