KOKO LEADS MARIKINA CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE PREFERENCE SURVEY; QUIMBO STRONG IN DISTRICT 2
Marikina City, January 2, 2025 – A recent survey, “Pulso ng Marikeños,” conducted from December 16 to 30, 2024, reveals strong voter preference for specific candidates in Marikina’s upcoming congressional elections.
The survey polled 2,800 respondents in District 1 and 2,900 in District 2.
District 1:
Senate Minority Floor Leader Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III enjoys a commanding lead in District 1 with 2,200 votes (78.57%).
Respondents cited his experience as a veteran lawmaker, his ability to push for legislative measures beneficial to Marikeños, and his existing programs like “BTS” (Baha, Trabaho, Sapatos), medical missions, livelihood initiatives, and other community assistance as key factors in their support.
Marikina Mayor Marcelino "Marcy" Teodoro (NUP) received 600 votes (21.43%).
District 2:
In District 2, former House Deputy Speaker Romero "Miro" Quimbo secured the highest number of votes with 1,500 (51.72%), attributed by respondents to his programs for Marikina residents and his legislative track record. Donn Carlo Favis (NUP) received 700 votes (24.14%), while Mauro Arce and Jose Jaime Enage (both Independent) garnered 450 votes (15.52%) and 250 votes (8.62%), respectively.
The low vote count for Marcelino Teodoro in District 1, according to some respondents, is due to his recent disqualification by the COMELEC regarding his residency, leading to respondent concerns about stray votes.
Another issue is why the mayor is silent on Marikina City’s 3.615 billion debt.
