Mechanics / Criteria / Prizes

🟨 MECHANICS

1.) The Battle of the Bands is open to eight (8 AMATEUR groups only, “Amateur” bands refer to any band that has not signed any contract with any musical label before or during the contest proper. This contest is on a first-come, first-served basis;

2.) Each group will have a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 7 members aged 15-25 years old, and a resident of Valencia City for at least 6 months.

3.) Any band member who has won in a local, national, international, or independent music contest designed for solo artists and/or singers is allowed to join.

4.) The group members may be composed of all males or females, or any combination of both. Band Members can only play in one band.

5.) Each band’s set (overall performance, entrance, and exit of the band) must fill approximately 15 minutes but must not exceed 20 minutes. For every minute exceeding the 20-minute limit, the band will be penalized 5 points from their total score.

Running Time:

Band Set-up / Entrance / Exit (5 minutes)
Sound Check / Tuning / Warm Up (3 minutes)
Song Of Choice (2 songs) (7 minutes)
Total Time 20 minutes

6.) The bands are free to their own rendition of their chosen song. Medley arrangement of songs is not allowed.

7.) Songs with indecent or repulsive lyrics are not allowed

8.) Band members who are performing under the influence of liquors shall result in immediate disqualification.

9.) The use of pyrotechnic gadgets, smoke or combustible materials as props are not allowed.

10.) All types of equipment must be provided by the participants except for the drum set which will be provided by the Organizers, Damages on the sound systems equipment during the performance shall be shouldered by the band

11.) Non-appearance of the band during their call/turn of performance shall be immediately and automatically disqualified.

12.) No registration Fee

13.) The decision of the judges is final and irrevocable.

2nd Place P3,000
3rd Place P2,000
Consolation prize P1,000 per band
