Dear Canlaonian's,

It is true that raising awareness of the current state of Mount Kanlaon on social media is a good idea, but avoid following any needless or offensive trends and instead be a responsible user of the platform, share helpful and positive messages despite the difficulties we experience. Continue to pray, and be always ready. Take care po everyone!

SYMPOSIUM ON CIGARETTE AND VA**NG IN JBCMHS UPTOWN CAMPUS

Yesterday, February 21, 2024 a symposium held at Jose B. Cardenas Memorial High School Uptown Campus, brought together students, health professionals, and experts to shed light on the critical issue of cigarette smoking and va**ng. Mrs. Ligaya I. Moneva, representing the Department of Health (DOH) Region 7, and Dr. Florante Trinidad from the World Health Organization (WHO) led the discussions and presentations, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding our health and the health of others from the harmful effects of these habits.

The event provided a platform for students to engage with the latest information and research on the risks associated with cigarette smoking and va**ng. With the prevalence of these habits among young individuals, the symposium aimed to empower the students with knowledge and awareness, enabling them to make informed decisions regarding their health and well-being.

Throughout the symposium, various topics were covered, including the detrimental impact of cigarette and v**e smoke on respiratory health, the addictive nature of ni****ne, and the potential long-term consequences of these habits. Additionally, practical strategies and resources for smoking cessation and va**ng prevention were shared, equipping the students with valuable tools to support themselves and their peers in adopting healthier lifestyles.

The engagement and enthusiasm displayed by the Jose B. Cardenas Memorial High School students underscored the significance of addressing this public health concern at an early age. By fostering a culture of awareness and responsibility, the symposium aimed to instill a sense of agency in the students, encouraging them to become advocates for positive health practices within their communities.
