This new law, co-authored by Sen. Pia Cayetano, will strengthen support systems for students, particularly through increased availability of school counselors and school counselor associates, improved guidance counseling, and the creation of safer, more nurturing school environments.

Inatasan ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ang Department of Budget and Management (DBM) at ang Department of Education (DepEd) na magtulungan sa pagbibigay ng mas mataas na Service Recognition Incentive (SRI) para sa mga g**o sa pampublikong paaralan.

Balak ng gobyerno na itaas ang taunang SRI ng humigit-kumulang 1,011,800 empleyado ng DepEd mula P18,000 hanggang P20,000.

Ang mga karagdagang anunsyo sa pagpapatupad at timeline para sa tumaas na SRI ay inaasahan kapag ang mga kinakailangang mekanismo ng pagpopondo ay natapos na.

MT. KANLAON ERUPTION AFTERMATH

LOOK: Parts of Barangay Ma-ao and Barangay Ilijan in Bago City, Negros Occidental have turned gray following the eruption of Kanlaon Volcano on Monday afternoon.

The Department of Health (DOH) advised affected residents to wear masks and clothes with long sleeves to protect themselves from pyroclastic density currents.

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), Kanlaon Volcano may have a hazardous eruption in the following weeks.

Level 3 is still raised over the volcano after its explosive eruption on Monday.

Senator Kuya Alan Peter Cayetano on Wednesday stressed the urgent need to modernize the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), pointing out that only 10 of the country's 24 active volcanoes are currently monitored, and only Taal and Mayon volcanoes have complete monitoring systems.

During the deliberations on the PHIVOLCS Modernization Act (Senate Bill No. 2825), Senate Majority Leader Sen. Francis Tolentino and Senate Minority Leader Sen. Aquilino ‘Koko’ Pimentel III expressed their support for the passage of the proposed measure.
