Thanksgiving is one of the most anticipated and beloved holidays in the United States. It is celebrated each year on the fourth Thursday in November (November 24, 2022) and marks the first harvest season of the year. The holiday was celebrated for centuries before its official establishment by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863 as an annual day of Thanksgiving during the Civil War.
Thanksgiving Day has become one of the most important holidays celebrated in America. The holiday has been observed since 1621, when Native Americans first observed it in New England during the Plymouth Plantation Thanksgiving Celebration.
Family, friends, food, and football have come to symbolize Thanksgiving — a rare celebratory holiday without an established gift-giving component. Instead, the day urges all of us to be grateful for the things we do have.
