Our fellow journalist and the radio broadcaster of The Echo, John Lexter Pal, was admitted to OSPA Medical Center, Ormoc City as he was experiencing a severe migrane. He went through various tests and was diagnosed with brain tumor. Due to his critical state, he urgently got a surgery.

With your miraculous prayers and helping hands, any amount through financial support with definitely benefit his fast recovery. 🙏

Calbiga NHS kicks off S.Y ‘24-‘25

Calbiga National High School welcomed the School Year 2024-2025 with 2,822 enrolled students as of today—1,787 are from the Junior High School and 1,035 are from the Senior High School.

We also extend our congratulations to SSLG President and DFSSLG Auditor, Loren, for actively participating in Cluster 4 (composed of SDO Eastern Samar, Samar, and Borongan City) which lead to victory in the recent project pitching. The 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗔𝗟𝗣𝗔𝗦 of Cluster 4 will now represent the region at the national level.

It has been a year of relentless effort, filled with the ups and downs of delivering authentic and valuable information for the CNHS community. As such, let us applaud and praise the individuals, whose names and pictures are below, who have selflessly dedicated themselves to their responsibilities and served as the champions of truth over the past six years.
This journey has not been an easy one; it was fraught with obstacles such as a lack of funding and essential equipment needed to ensure the swift and efficient circulation of information. Despite these challenges, this pack of student-writers persevered, maximizing all available resources, even to the extent of using their own money to fulfill their duties as "student-journalists." Though the work was often exhausting, their burning passion to serve and be the voice of truth allowed them to rise to every occasion.
The joy that they feel is always incomparable, knowing that thousands eagerly await and are delighted to see the notification "The Echo posted an update" pop up on their phones. Those smiles, unwavering gratitude, and praise from the community they serve are what keep these dedicated journalists going.
As you bid goodbye and move on to the next chapter of your lives, may you continue to be the echo of truth and the amplifier for the unheard and marginalized. Always keep in mind that the experiences and lessons you all have gained, the skills and passion that you all have shared in the name of service will serve you all well in your future endeavors. May the spirit of The Echo remain burning within you, especially in this time when journalism plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of our society, and that may all of you continue to honor and uphold the values of courage, integrity, and relentless pursuit of truth, wherever the waves of life take you, for these are the hallmarks of a true journalist. The Calbiga National High School would like to extend its gratitude to the donors from Province of Samar for these medals donated earlier this morning.

This is a great help in appreciating and giving our students their well-deserved recognition. The medals donated will be used for the forthcoming year-end rites that will be held next week.

𝗖𝗡𝗛𝗦 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻;
𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘀 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗵, 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗹𝗲𝘀

As part of the pre-graduation activities, this school year's Grade 12 students across all sections convened at the activity center for the annual recollection which was spearheaded by Fr. Rey M. Palomas, and goes under the theme of "Kabataang Kristiyanong Pilipino para sa Matatag na Kinabukasan ng Bansang Pilipinas."
The essence of the said recollection centered on recognizing the hardships of every student, highlighting the sacrifices of every parent just to send their children to school, repenting on the sins and mistake committed, either consciously and unconsciously, by every student toward others, and more importantly giving importance that even if the journey wasn't just a walk in the park, often feeling like a rollercoaster with bumpy and dim road, the Almighty Father never fails to assure us that everything happens for a reason, and that His sheer guidance and presence had help us overcome and conquer the setbacks and struggles that we encountered along the way.
This year's recollection, which was held for the first time ever since after the onslaught of pandemic, was instrumental to ease the burden and lessen the cross each student is carrying as they were given a chance to express their emotions and find relief.
As the recollection came to a close, Fr. Rey gave an impactful message that as we go along in our path, it is always important to remember that when everything feels heavy, kneel down, and talk to God.

After the three-day battle of words, ink, and pens, the scribes of CNHS amassed a number of accolades in various categories for both English and Filipino – thus a testament to the countless hours of hard work and relentless effort they poured into their craft, day in and day out.

To the writers who were not able to clinch a spot, especially to those who fell short from clinching the first spot, know that the school is proud of your success, and your journey is no less significant. Always remember that there is always a next time, and each setback is an opportunity to learn and grow, so continue to seek for improvement, and come back more bolder and greater next year! Don't stop practicing and keep bleeding because it is the continuous journey of improvement that truly counts.

To the winning writers and coaches, our prayers of good luck and support as you embark toward the next journey which is the Regional Schools Press Conference which will be held at Calbayog City. The school is always behind you because we have every confidence in your ability to shine on the regional stage. We earnestly wish you the best in your upcoming endeavour.

Indeed, participating in the three-day endeavour was not without the immense support and guidance of the following people who served as brilliant mentors that allowed the writers to reach this far: Mrs. Anitess Joanna C.
