BuCor Officer Arrested After Attempt to Sneak Illegal Drugs Hidden in Bread at Maximum Security Compound

A Corrections Technical Officer 1 of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) was arrested after she was caught attempting to smuggle two sachets of suspected shabu concealed beneath a pack of bread inside the New Bilibid Prison Maximum Security Compound.

According to BuCor, the incident occurred past 7 a.m. when the female personnel, assigned at the BuCor Hospital, arrived at Gate 1 of the Maximum Security facility. CCTV footage shows the officer entering the compound and proceeding through the walk-through metal detector before placing her belongings on a table for routine inspection.

However, during the inspection, the officer allegedly grabbed a plastic bag as personnel began checking its contents—prompting suspicion from her colleague. When the inspecting officer checked the pack of pandesal, two sachets of suspected shabu were found hidden underneath the bread.

The suspect, 39, has been serving in BuCor for nearly three years. She was immediately apprehended and placed under custody for further investigation.

BuCor said appropriate charges will be filed as part of its ongoing efforts to curb illegal activities within its facilities.
