MISS EARTH AIR 2023 : Yllana almost bagged the crown by placing Miss Earth Air which everyone knows is the runner up of Miss Earth. She did excellent on all parts of the competition, however the judges chose a different winner. Congratulations Yllana, you made us so proud for raising the Philippines flag so high in Miss Earth.

MISS EARTH 2023 : Meet our new Miss Earth Queen, Drita Ziri, Albania. I am super sold with the winner as she is truly deserving of the crown. Her face is just exquisite and her intelligence is at par with our previous Miss Earth Queens.

Also, congratulations to Yllana for being the Miss Earth Air. You did a fantastic job representing us.

MISS EARTH 2022 : Let's all watch the stellar performance of our current Miss Earth Queen before she passes on her crown. It was indeed a sight to behold seeing her win as we get to see new country winning the crown. I am pretty sure she enjoyed her reign and hope to seeing more of her advocating and promoting the protection and salvation of our earth. Thanks and good luck on your new journey.

MISS EARTH 2019 : The PR Queen that completed the Big 4 pageant crown for Puerto Rico. This stunning earth advocate is the first Boricua to win the Miss Earth crown. For me she is one of the most beautiful ME queens.

I was not a solid follower of ME so I have no idea who were the frontrunners during the pageant. All I knew Ghana was making the rounds due to her being so charismatic to her pinoy followers. But on the coronation night, the moment I saw Nellys, I got smitten by her beauty. She was really that beautiful that my eyes got glued on her.

During the pre-pageant activities, she got 2 silver medals. One for evening gown competition and the other is for the swimsuit competition under the WATER GROUP.

So it was not a surprised that she would make the top 20 cut. She was called the 15th to be called. The flower on hear added a little cuteness on her swimsuit presentation. While on the evening gown, she was so divine and elegant that as early as that round, I wanted her to be crowned already. The next cut was for top 10 and this is the hashtag round.

She was the second to be called on top 10 and her hashtag was : Respect. Her response to this was : “Magandang hapon, Pilipinas. This hashtag touches a lot in my heart, because it is the base of my advocacy. It is love and respect I stand for, in the family and in our Earth. By respecting one another and respecting the environment we live in, we can create a better envirionment for ourselves and for the future generations. It’s the most wonderful thing we can do for others.”

After the hashtag round, only 4 would make the cut and she was the last to be called. The final question was :
“There are many people including some notable international leaders who still do not believe in climate change. How would you convince them about the seriousness of this problem?”; and the beauties kept their various opinions with utmost fluency and grace. Her answer was : “Addressing this issue of people not knowing of not believing in climate change is more of lack of education. And not only lack of education but also the ignorance and not wanting to inform themselves of the fact that we are living in the planet that is our biggest home and we have taken advantage of it instead of putting back what it is giving to us. Making notable leaders and a lot of influencers engage with themselves in becoming a better people is the most important thing to do.”

With this answer, she became the first PR to win ME crown and her win made the PR the fourth country to complete the Big 4 crown.

13/12/2023

MISS EARTH 2017 : She is the epitome of being resilient. She may have been bashed the most, she ignored it all just to perform her function as Miss Earth and to do it well. Which is very admirable and impeccable. Regardless of how the world reacted on her win, she went on and do what she knew what's best and right for the organization.

Karen, is such a strong woman whose main intention is to spread environmental awareness to every country she visited. Before joining Miss Earth, she was a candidate of Binibini. Not originally part of the top 40, but she got the call back due to some initially announced candidates did not meet the height requirement. She became candidate number 8. Though armed with heavy credentials, Karen did not make the top 25 of the said pageant.

Karen did not stop pursuing her dream. She went on to join the Miss Philippines Earth. She represented the city of Manila. She was part of the top 15 in the poise category, intelligence and beauty of face category.

She moved further into the competition by making it to the top ten finalist. Then they were evaluated again. The evaluation started with the swimsuit competition. It was followed by the hashtag round. Her hashtag was fake news. Her answer to that hashtag was on point and very direct. After the hashtag round, the evening gown followed. Her answer to the final question made it easier for the judges to proclaim her as Miss Philippines Earth.

Moving to the Miss Earth 2017, Karen was never a favorite. Many had their eyes on other candidates like Miss Thailand, Venezuela, Netherlands, Ecuador and the likes. During the press presentation, the Gold medal went to Karen Ibasco. Miss Earth has pre-pageant activities that awards delegates Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals. The delegates are also divided into three groups. The pre-pageant activities does not affect the selection of the top 16 finalists. During the pre-pageant activities, Karen got 5 medals (3 golds and 2 silvers).

On the competition proper, there are preliminary rounds top 16. The categories are : Figure and Form, Beauty of Face and Poise, and Intelligence and Environmental Awareness. Karen was part of the top 16 in two categories. Her goddess costume was Liwanag ng Kalikasan. After the announcement of the top 16 of the three categories, the final top 16 were announced. Karen was called 12th. The swimsuit round followed. Karen played with the camera really well. She showed what she has been training for by being flirty on stage. This paved way to her moving to top 8. She was second to be called. This time around they were asked hashtag topics. She got biodiversity. Since she has this notebook as reviewer, it was easy for her to explain this hashtag. Karen, at that time, was unstoppable and many were fearing that she might took home the crown. Then the top 4 were announced. She was second to be called. Her answer to the final question was one remarkable and impressive answer.

— Karen Ibasco on the question: Who or what do you think is the biggest enemy of Mother Earth and why?

I believe that the real problem in this world is not climate change; the real problem is us because of our ignorance and apathy. What we have to do is to start changing our ways, to start recalibrating our minds, and redirecting our steps, because together, as a global community, our micro efforts will have a macro effect to help save our home, our planet.

NOTE : The whole crowd in MOA ARENA were so happy and impressed with Karen's performance.

10/12/2023

MISS EARTH 2016 : With her win, she became the second from Ecuador to have won the Miss Earth crown. This very kind queen did not bother to mind the negative things thrown at her after she won. The two issues thrown at her was her supposed surgery and her gown. She nicely addressed these issues and left no hard feelings.

The answer that made her win the Miss Earth crown in 2016 was :

“If you were selected as Miss Earth 2016, what would be your program to protect Mother Earth from climate change?"

ANSWER : “I truly believe in the 5 R's, which is re-think, reduce, re-use, recycle and respect. Because I believe that as human beings, if we apply that to our everyday lives, we can make a change and we will reduce the problem that we have just mentioned. If we apply that to our everyday lives, I believe that we as humans can save the place we live in, which is our Mother Earth.”

MISS EARTH 2015 : Angelia Ong's first venture in national beauty pageant was in Binibini. She was an official candidate of Binibining Pilipinas 2011. That batch is one of the strongest batches Binibini had. We had 3 Miss Universe Philippines from that Batch namely: Shamcey, Janine and MJ. Angelia was 20 years old when she joined binibini. She was candidate number 7.

Though her journey in Binibini did not turn out well as she was not called as part of the semifinalists, she did not go home empty handed. She took home the award of Face of Binibini which is simply the Miss Photogenic award.

After her stint, she gave pageantry a rest for 3 years. It was in 2014, when she joined Miss Manila where she ended up 2nd runner up and with two awards such as Best in Long Gown and Press Choice Award.

It was in 2015 when she give national pageantry another try. This time it is with Miss Philippines Earth. She represented Manila on this pageant. On the coronation night, the show started with candidates intro on their national costume. After the introduction, the best in national costume was awarded. It was followed by the panel of judges introduction.

A production with the reigning Miss Philippines Earth and Miss Earth followed. All the girls were in white wherein they showcased their talent for dancing.

Three special awards were given. Angelia Ong won the Miss Hana award. The top 15 finalists were announced. Angelia was called 13th before Diana Mackey.

Swimsuit competition followed. All the girls got to strut their swimsuit on stage. A performance G-Force was witnessed to buy time for the candidates to prepare for the evening gown competition. After the evening gown competition, the top 10 was announced.

She was called 1st. She was asked by Zsa Zsa Padilla if she believes in same s*x marriage. Her response to that question is : I think it really depends on the person, if he or she believes in [same-]s*x marriage but, as for me, if the person feels that he or she needs to be married to show his or her love, then I don’t mind having [same-]s*x marriage. If you feel that that is love, then so be it. With that answer, she won the Miss Philippines Earth 2015.

Her journey in Miss Earth was very interesting. She was armed to achieve the first back to back win in Miss Earth. In addition, the pageant was held in Vienna, Austria.

During the pre-pageant activities, Angelia won 2 medals. One silver and one bronze. To the fans of Miss Earth, this is not part of the judging of who would make it to top 16. The edition had several controversies during the competition. First was Miss Taiwan was not allowed to continue because of her refusal to change her sash to Chinese Taipei. Another controversy was when India's eco video showed some part of Nepal.

The opening number of Miss Earth 2015 was eye candy. Having the girls wear in red shorts and white long sleeves, these girls turned out to be cute young innocent delegates.

Angelia was never a favorite on this edition. It was Miss Panama who the online fans were rooting for. So on the coronation night proper, many were expecting Panama to be part of top 16. It was shocking for them to find out that no Panama was in the top 16. Another favorite at that night was Miss Mongolia. Angelia was called 8th on the top 16. The top 16 both sashayed in swimsuit and evening gown.

The announcementnof top 8 was next in lone. Angelia was 4th to be called. This time around it was the Q&A portion. She was asked by Eva. She was asked to make a slogan for the next 15 years. She answered it : We will, because we can. I want to let everybody know that all things are possible, and all things are feasible, if we work together. We will, because we can.

With that answer, she was crowned the Miss Earth 2015.

NOTE :

Angelia lend one of her gowns to Miss India.
Unfortunately, her victory was stiffled by Pia's victory in Miss Universe. Her interview with Tito Boy says it all. Nevertheless, she did an excellent job achieving the back to back win for the Philippines.

MISS EARTH 2014 : Our lone winner of Big 4 pageant in 2014. Jamie Herrell is not a newbie in pageants. Having started her Beauty Pageant career in her hometown, she already won 3 titles there which were : Reyna ng Aliwan, Miss Sinulog Festival Queen and Miss MegaCebu 2013. It was in Miss Resorts World 2013 when she was unplaced and the pageant was won by Nikita McElroy.

During Miss Philippines Earth, she represented the Queen City of the South, CEBU City. On the coronation night, Jamie Herrell won Miss Solaire. On the top 15, Jamie was the 14th to be called. It is noticeable, that there are familiar names on this batch who also made it to the top 15 namely: Mary Ann Ross Misa, Janelle Tee, Bianca Paz and Crystal Aberasturi.

The competition went on with the swimsuit and evening gown which she both nailed.
After the two competitions, the announcement of top ten was done. She was second to be called.

The question and answer followed and Jamie was asked by former Akbayan lawmaker Risa Hontiveroz :

"Do you think that we, human beings, have been good children to Mother Earth?"

Jamie's answer :
Honestly, in my opinion, we haven't been good children. In fact, I believe that we are the number one cause of her problems, we are the reason why we're having climate change, and we are the reason why we're having floods. But in return, if we can only help her and salvage her, she will help us back and take care of us too, thanks."

With that answer, she rightfully earned the title of Miss Philippines Earth 2014.

On Miss Earth 2014 pageant, there were 85 candidates competing for the title. During Jamie's Journey in Miss Earth, she has won 3 medals. 2 golds and 1 silver. She got gold medal for Darling of the Press and Cocktail wear while she earned silver medal for the National Competition asia pacific region.

On the coronation night, there were top 16 who would advance and fight it out for the Miss Earth crown. Philippines was the 14th to be called. So after the announcement of top 16, the semifinalists competed in both swimsuit and evening gown competition. Her red Leo Almodal gown was a stand out. The 8 lovely ladies were called after the two competitions. Jamie was 6th to be called. The last round of the competition was the Q&A. Jamie was asked "If you win tonight’s crown, what will you do to help reverse effects of global warming?
Miss Philippines: Global warming has been known to be a long, overdue issue…I will use my title to inspire others, help our environment, and we start with the kids…the kids are the people of tomorrow."

Her answer gave her the title of Miss Earth 2014.

KAREN GALLMAN : Before she won the Bb Pilipinas Intercontinental 2018, she first joined way back in 2012. The same year when Janine Tugonon won the MUP and MJ Lastimosa was a semi finalist. Being young and against the pageant veterans, she took the journey as experience for a better future. On that year, she won the Miss Photogenic award and was part of the semi finalist.

6 years later, her face resurfaced the Binibining Pilipinas office and filed her application. This Kendal Jenner look a like drew attentions from the pageant fans. She became a front runner from the get go. Along with Catriona and Ahtisa.

2018 Batch was really strong and it was difficult to stand out against Catriona Gray. Karen maintained her momentum as one of the front runners. On the official numbering, she was candidate number 38.

So after the rigorous pre-pageant activities, here came the coronation night. Every one has their own bets. The special awards were dominated by Catriona ensuring and cementing her status as the one to beat and as the MUP. Other girls did not give up and gave Catriona a run for her money. One of them was Karen Gallman. She fought a good fight until the end.

Her answer to the question and answer was very controversial. She was asked, “Do you agree that a third restroom should be built for transgenders? Why or why not?

She answerred , “I definitely agree there should be a third restroom for transgender because as women, we would like privacy, and also with men. We have a separate room for the transgenders to serve as equality and privatization."

With this answer, she was awarded with Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental 2018.

The 47th Miss Intercontinental pageant was hosted by Japan, but held in the Philippines. This is one pageant that Philippines always ended up as the bridesmaid. This year has the most number of countries who participated. A record of 83 candidates. It was held on January 27, 2019 in the Philippines.

The show started with the continents of Africa wearing their national costume. The stage appeared to be slippery as many candidates slipped. Even Karen was a victim of the slippery stage. Glad that she held herself well. When Karen was called, the crown went wild. She wore a MASKARA theme inspired national costume very different to her Filipiniana national costume during Binibini.

The show was hosted by Billy Crawford. He headed the introduction of the judges as well as introduction of the pre-pageant activities. So after those events, the top 20 were announced. Each continents has atleast two semifinalists. The semifinalists were called in order of their continents. So africa was first. Followed by Asia and Oceania. And when the Philippines was called, it was an outrage of happiness. After Asia, Europe followed then North and South America. Venezuela missed the cut which was quite a shocker.

The search for Miss Intercontinental 2018 continues with the swimsuit competition. All semifinalists walked the stage with their perfect tone body. Ethiopia was a standout for the Africa while Philippines and Thailand stood out for the ASIA region. Slovak Republic was stunning while the other girls were just chilling. The most competitive regions were the Americas. Costa Rica is a barbie doll. Miss USA's body was to die for. Colombia looks like an Asian girl and very pretty.

The girls battled it out for the continental queen with their evening gown. Same as the swimsuit competition, the girls ramped per their continents. So the interesting part here is Vietnam, who idolized Catriona. She won the People's Choice award while Philippines won the continental queen of Asia.

So after the announcement of the continental queens, the queens were serenated by The Platters and the question and answer followed. Her response to the question Define success was : "Good evening, Philippines. For me, success is not just about winning in life but setting goals, smaller goals, and achieving your dreams and working hard for everything you want, and always looking up to God and being thankful for everything. For me, that is success."

This gave her the crown and the first Miss Intercontinental for the Philippines.

NOTE : It was seen on some videos that Mrs Araneta was in tears when Karen was announced as the winner.

PRELIM PERFORMANCE : Here is the preliminary performance of MMD. What do you think of her performance? How would you rate it from 1-10? Let me know your thoughts ☺️☺️☺️

ANN COLIS : When she won Bb Tourism, she accepted the fact the she didn't have a pageant to join. Her predecessor, Parul Shah, was not able to compete in International Pageant as the one she was supposed to compete did not push through. So when BPCI acquired the license of MGI, Parul Shah was sent. I remember Ann was crying when Madam Stella gave her a good news. So when BPCI conducted a press conference for a special announcement, it was then revealed that Parul will be sent to MGI and Ann to MG. This young beautiful lady easily conquered the Globe as she was hailed Miss Globe 2015. The first crown for the PH under BPCI.

Her journey to The Miss Globe was a very exciting one. Being the appointed representative of the Philippines to the Miss Globe, it was a delight to watch her journey. Simply because we have sent a Miss Universe PH caliber delegate to this pageant. When I saw the photos of her competition, I was immediate to say she had no competition when it comes to the face value.

She was the first to compete among the 2015 Batch. Miss Globe is a new pageant to the Pinoy pageant fans though we have won in the past courtesy of Maricar Balagtas (though I am not sure if it is the same pageant as Ann Colis). Many pinoys watched the online show and was really supportive.

On the coronation night, Ann walked with beautifully hand painted national costume. It perfectly suited her beautiful face. Next round was the swimsuit competition wherein she donned a one side hairstyle with her well improved pasarela. The evening gown followed. Her gown was okay and some pinoy fans noticed that it was kind of not fit to her body which for me didn’t matter. She delivered a good performance.

So on the announcement of top 15, she was called the 7th. The top 15 semifinalists then walked on a white gown. Ann was immaculate on her white gown. She was called the last on the top 5 finalists. Her question and answer was : What qualities do women possess that make them great leaders? Thank you for that question. I think the qualities of a woman that makes her a good leader is that she is sensitive and naturally nurturing. A person with a woman heart will decide on love and care combined with intelligence and that makes her a better leader. Thank you.

Do you think she should give a pageant one more try? She was, for me, the prettiest of BPCI 2015 Batch.

11/11/2023

LEREN MAE BAUTISTA : This beauty queen has already experienced to be an international title holder. Prior to her stint in Binibining Pilipinas, she already won a national title which is Mutya ng Pilipinas Tourism Queen of the Year International. She represented the Philippines in Malaysia on New Year's eve where she won the Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International 2015/2016.

In Mutya ng Pilipinas 2015, it was very obvious that Leren was among the contenders. Having to bag 2 special awards such as Best in Swimsuit, Evening Gown, and Mutya ng Sheridon Resort & Spa and Mutya ng Hana during the pre-pageant and coronation night. It was the the question and answer who would be the top winner between Leren and Janela Joy.

During the final round of questions, Bautista was asked Which tourist spot best describe your personality and why. The best tourist spot that would describe my personality would be my province, province of Laguna, because in my province I want to share the values I’ve gained from my province of LAGUNA which is being responsible, responsible for myself, responsible for my family and responsible that will benefit others as well,” she replied. With this answer she edged out another front runner Janela Joy.

On her journey to her international assignment, she bested 50 other candidates to claim the top crown. The pageant was held in Malaysia on New Year's eve.

So after she finished her reign in Mutya and Miss Tourism Queen, it took her two years to finally decide to join another national pageant. She decided to join the 2019 Binibining Pilipinas edition representing Laguna. Leren was off the radar during the start of the pre-pageant activities. This did not let her just give up the fight. Slowly but surely she started to
peak where it really mattered.

So on the coronation night, she was included on the top 15 because of her superb performances during the swimsuit and evening gown portion. Leren was the last to be called on the Q&A because of a little mishap that happened. The hosts already concluded the question and answer without having Leren get the chance to answer the question. After the host realized that Leren has not been called, he called Miss Gloria Diaz to ask the question for Leren.

Gloria Dias asked: "How do you define success?" My definition of success is raising my flag of bravery against bullying. It’s because I experienced hurtful words, heard so many things that hurt my feelings, but the 10-year-old girl fights for her rights, fights for what she believes in, and she believes in herself and trusts herself.

With this answer, she was awarded the Binibining Pilipinas Globe crown.

The training of Leren did not end in Binibini as she only have 4 months left to train for her international pageant. So on the first week of October, she had her send off along with Samantha and flew to Albania for the pre-pageant activities. She took the pageant by storm by always styling herself on point and slaying the other queens. She has been the photographer's fave as well as the sponsor.

She backed up herself with strong performances during the talent competition where she was a top 7 finalist, head to head challenge where she is a top 5 finalist and on the best in swimsuit where she ended up as 1st runner up. This girl is unstoppable and the only missing is the crown on her head.

09/11/2023

GABRIELA ISLER : The 7th Venezuelan to capture the Miss Universe crown in 2013. Her win was an unexpected. Though many were leaning towards Miss Spain, she managed to capture the judges to make her the winner.

She was not the top bet of the many. However, she silently worked her ass off to make it to the top. During the pre-pageant activities and sponsors’ visits, she was always part of it along with Miss Philippines.

It was only during the Tony Ward Fashion show when her presence was felt immensely. This glamazon girl killed her presentation. Many were amazed with how she carried herself and her posture during the show was impeccable.

Little by little she started gaining supporters leading up to the finals. We knew she would make the cut as her prelim presentations were great.

So on the coronation night, she was unstoppable. On the top 15 announcement, she was the 7th to be called. Her swimsuit presentation was one of the most lauded at that time. This gave her the chance to advance. She made the top 10 cut, the 9th to be called. She said on her package that she had inputs on how her final gown would be. One of the few who had sleeves on their final evening gown. So on the announcement of top 5, she was the last to be called.

With no breaks, the question and answer started. She was asked by Steve Tyler. Her question was : What is your biggest fear and how do you plan to overcome it?"
Her answer was “Fear is not negative. We should overcome all our fears and this in turn would make us stronger. As soon as we overcome our fears we can face any challenge."

At first, she thought that it was Spain who won as everything was done so quickly. It was only when Olivia approached her to crown her as Miss Universe 2013.
