Akay ni Sol Partylist brings medical services to Cavinti in Laguna
CAVINTI, Laguna (Jan. 4) – The Akay ni Sol Partylist, led by its president Sol Aragones, conducted its first-ever medical service initiative in Cavinti, Laguna, on Saturday. The event, dubbed "Akay ni Sol Botika on the Go," provided much-needed medical support to the community.
Over 400 individuals, primarily senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs), received free maintenance medicines for chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and high cholesterol. Beneficiaries were given a one-month supply of branded medications, including Losartan, Amlodipine, Metformin, and Rosuvastatin.
Chairperson Abner Dionglay, a spokesperson for Akay ni Sol Partylist from San Pablo City, highlighted the group’s accomplishments in improving healthcare access. "More than 50,000 individuals have benefited from Akay ni Sol initiatives, including free wheelchairs, canes, and XTern foot drop devices for those with mobility challenges," Dionglay said. The group also provides branded maintenance medicines to underserved populations.
Currently, Akay ni Sol Partylist operates four established Action Centers across Laguna, located in San Pablo City, Santa Rosa, Cabuyao, and Calamba. These centers are open to accommodate Family Card holders seeking assistance.
Sol Aragones, a former ABS-CBN Channel 2 reporter for 13 years and three-term representative of Laguna’s 3rd District, has remained steadfast in her public service efforts despite losing her gubernatorial bid in 2022. Aragones, who now chairs the Akay National Political Party, is once again vying for the governorship in the May 12 Midterm Elections.
Her platform focuses on pro-poor governance, emphasizing health and education. "The taxes paid by the people of Laguna should be returned to them through improved health services and ensuring that every family has a professional to uplift their living standards," Aragones said during her speech at Barangay Poblacion’s covered court in Cavinti.
Aragones’ commitment to public service extends beyond holding an official position. Despite being up against three government incumbents—two congressional representatives and a vice governor—she continues to provide direct assistance to those in need. She believes her leadership could further enhance the quality of life for Lagunenses.
"The situation could be better," Aragones asserted, "if given the chance to serve as governor of the province."
