Today's Prayer 🙏🤲

Lord our God, light of humankind in Jesus Christ, full of joy and trust we ask that we may have access to your almighty power, your power against all darkness, sin, death, and bo***ge. May we feel close to your almighty power. Hear our weeping, for we are and remain your children, to whom you have promised redemption and deliverance. Together we hold fast to this promise and stand before you saying, "We are your children in Jesus Christ the Savior, whom you have sent to us." Hear your children. Bless us each one, and bless us as one people, allowed to serve you in the misery of our world. Amen.

Tech-savvy Gen Z and Millennial travelers drive AirAsia Philippines’ promo success

*More than 500,000 seats up for grabs for only PHP177 one-way base fare with LFG! Rain or shine, Let's Fly & Go!

Manila - AirAsia, the World’s Best Low-Cost Airlines for an uninterrupted 15 years and the pioneer in low-cost travel in Asean remains committed to keeping airfares the lowest in today’s market all-year round via its travel and lifestyle platform AirAsia MOVE.

Over the past three years, travelers have come to embrace and navigate the full potential of digital platforms. AirAsia MOVE app was able to market the airline’s monthly promos and reach millions world-wide. In the country alone, AirAsia Philippines recorded a total of 1.10 million seats booked under various promos such as PISO Sale and the monthly double digit sales from January to July 2024. Out of this figure, 340,000 were Gen Z’s and 480,000 were Millennials, while the remaining were Gen X and Boomers.

“Millennials and Gen Z’s are tech-savvy, while Gen X and Boomers are tech native. Technology always plays an important role in their decision making. 70% of online and over the App bookings for the first half of 2024 came from Millennials and Gen Z’s. To cope up with their travel needs, we need to stick to our working business model of low fare philosophy that focuses on streamlined, simple, and efficient business operation with high regards to passenger safety. We will continue to offer the most competitive and affordable airfare, fueling their excitement for travel with our monthly offerings”, AirAsia Head of Communications and Public Affairs and First Officer Steve Dailisan shares.

AirAsia Philippines is once again gearing up for another bang in the buck sale with LFG! Rain or shine, Let's Fly & Go! offering more than 500,000 seats to all destinations. Available until 28 July, guests can book their domestic and international flights from as low as PHP177 one-way base fare for immediate travel until 30 December 2024.

Meanwhile, AirAsia Philippines noticed that ‘revenge travel’ has been recently crossed out of the bucket list. A new trend which is coined ‘journey travel’ focuses more on the guest’s travel experience from point A to point B. Rather than focusing on the end destinations such as a famous beach resort in Boracay or a luxurious hotel in Bangkok, travelers now also focus on creating memorable experiences and discoveries along the way.

“This is where AirAsia also comes to play. With an array of destinations, accommodations, activities, and other modes of transportation available on the AirAsia MOVE app our guests can create the best memories”, Dailisan added.

Today's Prayer 🙏🤲

Lord our God, strengthen in us all that comes from you and is eternal, all that is good and right and genuine. Let this shape our outward life and help us triumph over need and death. Help us to wait quietly, even when we don't know the answers to our questions, because we are certain that the outcome will be good and life-giving, to the glory of your Spirit and your name. We entrust ourselves to your hands. Stay with us, that we may receive your calling for our lives. Stay with us, so that in all our work and activity we may be aware of your guiding Spirit at work in our hearts. Amen.

Higalaay Festival 2024 Organizing Committee Official Statement:

HIGALAAY FESTIVAL IS INCLUSIVE, TRANSPARENT
The Higalaay Festival Organizing Committee is constrained to address the questions regarding the reported high-end open market at the Rio de Oro Boulevard.

The organizers adopt a policy that is inclusive and transparent in selecting partners for the festival from the private sector, religious and civil society.

The proposed high-end open market at the Rio de Oro Boulevard is just one of the many events where the city government partners with the private sector. To encourage business, City Hall offers incentives to partners of the Higalaay Festival.

For this supposed event, the city government allows the use of a portion of the boulevard.

Specifically, around 200 meters of the 2,700 meter or 2.7km d**e subject to rules and regulation of the Rio de Oro Boulevard management.

There is no financial transaction between the proponents of the high-end open market and the City Hall.

The controversial P50,000 fee for participants will be handled by organizers of the event for operational expenses that include security, tents, janitorial services, power and water, and the general management of the event.

We trust the proponents to know the feasibility of their venture, including among others, the business risks.

As stated above, the proposed venture will only use less than 10 percent of the whole boulevard (around 200 meters of the 2.7 kilometers river d**e). Needless to say, the rest of the boulevard will be open to other uses.

The administration of Mayor Klarex Uy is very liberal to micro and small entrepreneurs like the street vendors.
We deplore the opportunism by the critics of Mayor Klarex Uy for peddling disinformation which resulted in sabotaging what could have been a good business venture that could open up opportunities for micro and small entrepreneurs, and contribute to tourism.

The Higalaay Festival is much bigger than this controversy fueled by disinformation.

REST IN PEACE, MANGAYON 💔🦅

LOOK | The online community is mourning the loss of Mangayon, a young male Philippine Eagle.

The Philippine Eagle Foundation announced his death on their page. Mangayon, who was rescued on July 8, 2024, succumbed to severe blood loss from a gunshot wound, likely caused by an improvised marble gun while he was perched.

There are calls for authorities to better enforce existing policies and laws to prevent such violent acts against eagles and to exercise their legal and operational powers more effectively.

Palawan Group of Companies Celebrates Triple Victory at the Asian Banking Finance Fintech and Retail Awards 2024

Palawan Group of Companies, the leading pawnshop and remittance company in the Philippines, achieved remarkable success at the recent Asian Banking and Finance (ABF) Fintech and Retail Banking Awards. The company was honored with three prestigious awards: the Financial Inclusion Award and the New Fintech Product Award for PalawanPay at the ABF Fintech Awards, and the Finance Company Inclusion of the Year at the Retail Banking Awards. These accolades underscore Palawan Group's dedication to financial inclusion and innovation.

The ABF Retail Banking & Fintech Awards are the foremost recognition program for Asia's banking and finance industry. These awards celebrate top performers for their innovative solutions, breakthroughs, dedication, and exceptional customer service, which have redefined industry standards. The ceremony was held at the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre in Singapore on July 4, gathering over 100 banks, finance, and fintech companies, along with 400 C-Level executives and senior finance and banking officers from across Asia.

Palawan Financial Services Corporation’s President and CEO, Third Librea; Head of Marketing, Bernard Kaibigan; along with their PR agency, Browne Communications' Managing Partner, Laarni Reyes; and Business Development Director, Amby Molina, received the awards at Marina Bay Sands.

Entries for the awards were rigorously evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges, including EY ASEAN Regional Managing Partner, Liew Nam Soon; Bain & Co.’s Financial Services Partner, Alessandro Magarini Montenero; PwC Southeast Asia Financial Services Strategy and Operations Partner, Mansi Singh; and Deloitte Southeast Asia Audit and Assurance Partner and CFO Program Leader, Ho Kok Yong. Their collective expertise ensured a stringent selection process, culminating in the recognition of truly deserving institutions.

At the heart of Palawan Group’s achievement is its unwavering commitment to championing financial inclusion in the Philippines. This dedication has been recognized with prestigious awards such as the Financial Inclusion Award at the ABF Fintech Awards and the Finance Company Inclusion of the Year at the Retail Banking Awards. These accolades underscore Palawan Group's outstanding contributions to providing accessible financial transactions, particularly to unbanked and underbanked Filipinos.

The company’s commitment to financial inclusion is evident through its extensive reach. Its one-stop money shop, Palawan Pera Express Padala, now boasts over 10,000 outlets across the country, reaching even the most remote areas. This service ensures secure and affordable domestic and international remittances. Additionally, PalawanPay has accelerated financial inclusion, bringing over 19 million customers into the fold within two years, making financial transactions more convenient for everyone.

A standout among Palawan Group’s accolades is the New Fintech Product Award, bestowed upon PalawanPay, the country’s fastest-growing e-wallet app. PalawanPay was lauded for its seamless fund transfers, efficient bill payments, quick e-loading, and reliable integrated QRPH scan-to-pay feature. The app also facilitates international remittance, online pawn renewal, and microinsurance services, all accessible at the customers’ fingertips, empowering users with 24/7 financial management capabilities. The PalawanPay app is also 100% "Gawa ng Pinoy, Para sa Pinoy" (made by Filipinos for the Filipinos) which showcases Palawan Group’s pride in Filipinos’ capabilities and their desire to help Filipinos everywhere. PalawanPay customers can enjoy unparalleled flexibility and convenience in accessing financial services anytime, anywhere, offering a seamless blend of in-branch and online services.

"We are honored to receive these prestigious awards from the ABF Fintech and Retail Awards 2024. This recognition is a testament to our unwavering commitment to financial inclusion and innovation. At Palawan Group, we strive to empower every Filipino with accessible and reliable financial solutions, and through PalawanPay, our digital e-wallet, we demonstrate ongoing innovation driven by our goal of advancing financial inclusivity,” said Third Librea.

“Receiving the Finance Company Inclusion of the Year Award from the ABF Retail Awards 2024 is a significant honor for us at Palawan Group of Companies. This accolade reaffirms our mission to enhance Filipinos’ lives and livelihoods, especially in the unbanked and underbanked sectors. We are dedicated to fostering financial inclusivity across the country and delivering relevant solutions to make Filipino lives easier and financially better”, expressed Bernard Kaibigan.

These awards are a clear demonstration of Palawan Group’s relentless pursuit of innovation and customer centricity, and its commitment to providing “mura, mabilis, at walang kuskos balungos na serbisyo” (affordable, fast, and hassle-free services). As Palawan Group continues to set new benchmarks in the industry, it remains steadfast in its mission to empower Filipinos with accessible, efficient, and convenient financial solutions that ensure a win-win situation for everyone involved.

Palawan Pawnshop, Palawan Express Pera Padala, Palawan ProtekTODO and PalawanPay are supervised by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. For more information, go to Palawan Pawnshop and PalawanPay websites.
