We did something cool!

So in our past screenshots, we use different shaders to enhance the look of vanilla Minecraft. However, like any game graphics, shaders are still very limited and are not 100% photorealistic and even though shaders often look good on exteriors and landscape shots, they easily fall apart whenever you have an indoor shot. So we devised a little experiment!

We wanted to see if it was possible to export our Minecraft BXU world and import it into Blender, an external 3d software, so we could render the world with RAYTRACING. Physically accurate lights, shadows, global illumination, and reflections!

From now on, we will be doing our cinematics and photos this way! This is the closest we could get to Minecraft with RTX on! Oh you thought our past screengrabs were realistic? Take a look at these! Enjoy the eye candy shots!

What is Minecraft BXU?

Minecraft BXU is an on-going project that aims to build and recreate most of Butuan City into the blocky world of Minecraft. The project initially started as a recreation of the FSUU College and SHS Campus as a fun little project the builders decided to do while being on quarantine. The project later expanded into including the neighboring buildings and landmarks in downtown Butuan and we hope to include other schools and more shops as we continue to expand!
At the moment, we have a server running 24/7 but we’ve limited it to invite-only for now as we continue to build stuff but we do plan on releasing the server address publicly in the future so anyone can visit and play! We are also considering uploading this map for download but no promises on the release date tho! We wish to work on this at our own pace and not rush things.
Anyways, hope to see you someday in Minecraft BXU!
