I wanted to tell this story again and again about my nanay.

When I was in college, my allowance was only P250, less pamasahe pa nga 40 paayan ag 40 pabalik. Less pa gid ang WOMEN’s or MOD nga magazine nga ginabakal ko weekly nga P45, so I only had P135 food allowance for 5 days. Huyap lagi ta ni Nanay akon dapat gastuson kada adlaw.

One time, nag salampitan nga mag tan aw it sine sa Roselle, kami nga mag boardmates. Syempre out of budget na yun. Then the following day, I sent letter to nanay, asking for additional allowance. The next morning, nag ayan ako sa paradahan it jeep with hope that mother will grant my request. The conductor handed me the envelop, when I opened it, wala it kwarta, only a paper with this written in it.

Just turned 46.

We were only 35, when our nest became empty -that was when our daughters Yvina and Jea crossed the seas to chase their dreams. To battle out separation anxiety, we engaged in farming. Amazingly, life becomes even more liveable.

Passing by our vegetable garden on my way to school this morning, my heart leaps knowing that our 3-week old pipino, okra and string beans have their first taste of water from heaven. This rain is everything- an answered prayer. Thanks G🙏
