As we begin a new year, I encourage you to reflect on the Savior’s invitation to become like Him. He said, “Therefore, what manner of men ought ye to be? Verily I say unto you, even as I am” (3 Nephi 27:27). How can we follow His example and strive to increase in righteousness?

One way is to set goals that align with His will and teachings.

Setting goals is not only a practical skill but also a spiritual discipline. It helps us to exercise appropriately our moral agency, to become agents who act and are not merely acted upon, and to evaluate our progress.

Prayerfully seek the Lord’s guidance as you determine your goals this year, and consider sharing your goals with people you trust—whether that be your family, friends, or leaders.

Always remember that the Lord loves you. He will support, sustain, and help you. He said, “I will go before your face. I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up” (Doctrine and Covenants 84:88).

May we all strive in 2024 to become more like our Savior. He declared, “I came into the world to do the will of my Father, because my Father sent me. And my Father sent me that I might be lifted up upon the cross” (3 Nephi 27:13–14). He redeems us from sin, saves us from death, and invites us to follow Him and partake of His joy. I bear witness of His reality, divinity, and magnificent power.

Take time to connect with God, share your thoughts, worries, and joys with Him. Trust that He hears your prayers and cares about what's on your heart. By being prayerful, you invite God's presence into your life, and you'll find yourself surrounded by His blessings, happiness, and inner peace.

It's okay to have weaknesses. Everyone does. It's all part of being human. But here's the thing: don't let your weaknesses bring you down.

Instead, see them as opportunities to grow and become stronger. Life is all about learning and improving, and sometimes, we need those tests to help us become better versions of ourselves.

So, don't be discouraged by your shortcomings. Embrace them, learn from them, and keep moving forward. You've got what it takes to master your weaknesses and overcome any challenge that comes your way.

Keep pushing, and you'll come out even stronger on the other side.

Ordinances and covenants help us remember who we are. They remind us of our duty to God. The Lord has provided them to help us come unto Him and receive eternal life. When we honor them, He strengthens us.
