SABANGAN, MOUNTAIN PROVINCE✨

The municipality of Sabangan lies in the southeastern side of Mountain Province and falls within the latitude of 120ΒΊ 53’ to 121ΒΊ and longitude of 16ΒΊ 51β€³ to 17ΒΊ 02’. It is bounded on the north by the municipalities of Sagada and Bontoc, on the east by the province of Ifugao and both south and west by municipality of Bauko.

Located 18 kilometers away from Bontoc and 129 kilometers away from Baguio City, it could be reached through the Halsema Highway, Sabangan-Cervantes Road and Bontoc via Tinglayan and Banaue.

Sabangan has an average elevation of 2,070 meters above sea level. The highest is 2,714 meters at the peak of Mt. Kalawitan while the low-lying barangays of Poblacion, Lagan and Losad record the lowest elevation with an average of 1,100 meters. The terrain is generally rugged and mountainous. About 86.58% of the total land area is hilly with forest covered slopes.

Featuring, the MPSPC S**G performing the story of NAN UT-UTUT during the Biyaheng Kalusugan Campaign of the Department of Health at the Provincial Plaza today.

The story of NAN UT UTOT (The Rat)

The season of Chinakhon was done, so it was time for the people to hew out kaingin in the mountains. Two brothers went to the mountains and after they had cleared it, they returned home. The next day, they were astonished to find that the area they had cleared of sticks and weeds grew again. So, they cleared it again and left for home. The following day, they were astounded and puzzled as to how the area they had cleaned twice had suddenly become overgrown with weeds overnight. So they made the decision to spend the night on the mountain to investigate. Evening came and they heard someone chanting and found that it was a rat that was making the weeds grow with its chants. They have decided to punish it, but the rat pleaded for its life. The brothers decided to spare the rat's life. In exchange, the rat invited the brothers to its house, fed them, and sent them on their way. As a gift for sparing its life, the rat gave the brothers a magical ladle and a gong. In the end, the two brothers happily went home.

The Majestic Landlocked of Dalican

Barangay Dalican is located in Bontoc, Mountain Province. Dalic or Likhayan refers to the tribe that inhabits Barangay Dalican. It can be reached by hiking by road or by utility or private vehicles. As they say, Mountain Province is the rice terraces haven of the country and home to countless natural wonders, Dalican can contribute to such because of its beautiful rice terraces, natural lakes and amazing caves. (For the information of everyone, the caves are not open to the public.)
