Shy and I having a date night in Roxas City. We ate at a Korean restaurant (as well as at Jollibee and Greenwhich), went to watch a movie, and also went bowling where you use smaller balls and there are actual people at the end of the lanes physically setting up the pins as you knock them down. It was pretty funny to see bare footed legs running around behind the pins 🤣

1. The Philippines is an archipelago consisting of 7,641 islands, making it the second-largest archipelago in the world after Indonesia.

2. The country is home to the world's longest underground river, the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature.

3. The Philippines is known for its rich biodiversity, with approximately 1,100 terrestrial vertebrate species and over 12,000 plant species, many of which are endemic to the archipelago.

4. Manila, the capital city of the Philippines, is one of the most densely populated cities in the world and serves as the economic, cultural, and political center of the country.

5. The Philippine flag is unique in that it can be flipped upside down to indicate a state of war. In peacetime, the blue stripe is on top, while in wartime, the red stripe is on top.

6. The country's national hero is José Rizal, a polymath and nationalist who played a key role in the Philippine Revolution against Spanish colonial rule. His writings and activism inspired the Filipino people to fight for independence.

7. The Philippines is the world's leading producer of coconuts, producing over 15 million tons of coconut annually, which is used in various industries, including food, cosmetics, and agriculture.

8. Filipino cuisine is a blend of Indigenous, Malay, Spanish, Chinese, and American influences, featuring dishes such as adobo (marinated meat), sinigang (sour soup), and lechon (roast pig).

9. The country celebrates the world's longest Christmas season, starting as early as September and lasting until January, with festive decorations, caroling, and family gatherings.

10. The Philippines is home to one of the world's smallest primates, the tarsier, which is found on the islands of Bohol and Samar.
