Beef and Napa Cabbage Stir-Fry

Ingredients:

1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp cornstarch
2 tbsp vegetable oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1-inch piece of ginger, peeled and minced
1 head of napa cabbage, sliced
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tsp sesame oil
Green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the beef:
In a bowl, combine the sliced beef, salt, pepper, and cornstarch. Mix well to coat the beef evenly.

2. Stir-fry the beef:
Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add the beef and stir-fry until browned on all sides. Remove the beef from the wok and set aside.

3. Cook the vegetables:
Add the remaining 1 tbsp vegetable oil to the wok. Add the garlic and ginger and stir-fry until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add the napa cabbage and stir-fry until it begins to wilt, about 2-3 minutes.

4. Combine and finish:
Add the cooked beef back to the wok. In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Pour the sauce over the beef and cabbage and stir-fry until the sauce thickens and coats everything evenly, about 1-2 minutes.

5. Serve:
Garnish with green onions, if desired, and serve hot with rice or noodles.

Pork Belly Sinigang Recipe

Ingredients:

1 lb pork belly, cut into 1/2 inch thick slices
1 large onion, chopped
2 tomatoes, chopped
2 cups water
1/2 cup tamarind soup base or 1/4 cup tamarind paste
1/2 cup daikon radish, sliced
1 cup okra, trimmed
1 cup taro, peeled and quartered
1 cup spinach, washed and stems removed
2-3 green finger chilies
Fish sauce to taste
Salt to taste

Instructions:

Brown the pork: In a large pot over medium heat, add oil and brown the pork belly for 1 minute.
Add aromatics: Add the chopped onion and tomatoes to the pot and stir for 1 minute.
Add liquids: Add water to the pot, covering the ingredients. Bring to a simmer and avoid boiling. Add the tamarind soup base or paste to the pot.
Simmer the pork: Cover the pot and let it simmer for 45 minutes or until the pork is tender. Skim off any foam or scum that rises to the surface.
Add vegetables: Add the daikon radish, okra and taro to the pot. Cook for 5 minutes.
Add greens: Add the spinach and green chilies to the pot. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
Season: Taste the soup and season with fish sauce and salt to your liking.
Serve: Remove from heat and serve with steamed rice.

Chicken Tinola Recipe (Filipino chicken soup)

If you love ginger then this Chicken Tinola is for you. A simple everyday Filipino soup that is very healthy and flavorful. This Tinola recipe is made with chicken, ginger, garlic, onion, fish sauce, chayote or green papaya, red chili leaves or moringa leaves (malunggay), and with lemongrass.

Ingredients

2 lbs chicken cut into bite-sized pieces
2 tbsp cooking oil
4 cloves garlic minced
1 whole onion small size
2 stalks lemongrass
1 piece ginger peeled and thinly sliced
1 tsp salt
½ tsp ground black pepper
4 cups water
2 cups papaya
1 cup malunggay (moringa)

Instructions

Heat a splash of cooking oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add minced garlic, chopped onion, and grated ginger, sautéing until the onion turns translucent and aromatic, about 2 minutes.

Add chicken pieces to the pot, seasoning generously with salt and pepper. Stir occasionally, allowing the chicken to brown and absorb the flavors for around 5 minutes.

Pour in enough water to cover the chicken mixture. Stir well, add lemongrass and cover the pot, and let it simmer gently for 20 minutes to infuse the broth with rich flavors.

Add chopped papaya, cover the pot again, and cook for another 20 minutes. The sweet papaya will complement the savory broth beautifully.

Sprinkle in fresh malunggay (moringa) leaves, cover, and cook for an additional 3 minutes, letting the leaves wilt and release their flavors.

Serve the hot, nourishing soup in bowls and savor each comforting spoonful! This delicious meal is sure to warm your soul and delight your taste buds.

Shrimp and Egg Stir-Fry

Ingredients:

8 large eggs
1/4 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 green onions, thinly sliced

Instructions:

In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper.
Heat the oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat.
Add the shrimp and cook until pink and opaque, about 2-3 minutes.
Remove the shrimp from the pan and set aside.
Add the garlic to the pan and cook for 30 seconds, or until fragrant.
Pour the egg mixture into the pan and cook, stirring occasionally, until the eggs are set but still slightly soft.
Add the shrimp back to the pan and stir to combine.
Garnish with green onions and serve immediately.

Tinolang Manok is the ultimate comfort food! Made of chicken, green papaya, fresh spinach, and ginger-flavored broth, this Filipino soup is hearty, healthy, and tasty.

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon cooking oil
1 small onion, peeled and sliced thinly
3 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
2 thumb-sized fresh ginger
1 (3 to 4 pounds) whole chicken, cut into serving pieces
2 tablespoons fish sauce
5 cups water
1 small sayote or green papaya, pared, seeded and cut into 2-inch wedges
1 bunch fresh spinach leaves, stems trimmed or (1 cup chili or malunggay leaves)
salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

In a pot over medium heat, heat oil. Add onions, ginger, and garlic and cook until softened.

Add chicken and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 5 to 7 minutes or until chicken starts to change color and juices run clear.

Add fish sauce and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 1 to 2 minutes.

Add water and bring to a boil, skimming scum that floats on top. Lower heat, cover and simmer for about 30 to 35 minutes or until chicken is cooked through.

Add papaya and cook for about 3 to 5 minutes or until tender yet crisp.

Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Add spinach or chilli leaves and push down into broth. Cook until just wilted. Serve hot.

Pork Bone and Radish Soup Recipe

Ingredients:

1 lb pork bones (ribs or neck bones)
1 large daikon radish, peeled and cut into chunks
1 carrot, peeled and cut into chunks
1 corn cob, cut into pieces
3-4 slices ginger
2-3 cloves garlic, smashed
Salt to taste
Ground white pepper to taste
1 scallion, chopped for garnish

Instructions:

Blanch the bones: In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add the pork bones and boil for 5 minutes. Drain and rinse the bones under cold water to remove any impurities.

Cook the soup: In the same pot, add the blanched pork bones, ginger, and garlic. Fill the pot with enough water to cover the ingredients. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour.

Add vegetables: Add the daikon radish and carrot chunks to the soup. Continue to simmer for another 30 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.

Add corn: Add the corn pieces and simmer for another 10-15 minutes, or until the corn is cooked through.

Season: Season the soup with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve: Garnish the soup with chopped scallions and serve hot.

Tomato Corn Pork Rib Soup Recipe

Ingredients:

500g pork ribs, cut into pieces
1 ear of corn, cut into segments
2-3 tomatoes, quartered
Ginger slices
Salt and pepper to taste
Optional: Spring onions for garnish

Instructions:

1. Blanch the ribs:
Boil water in a pot, add the pork ribs, and boil for a few minutes until the blood and impurities are removed. Drain and rinse the ribs.
2. Sauté the tomatoes:
Heat oil in a pot, add ginger slices and sauté until fragrant. Add the tomatoes and cook until they soften and release their juices.
3. Add the ribs and water:
Add the blanched ribs and enough water to cover the ingredients. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
4. Add the corn:
Add the corn segments to the pot and simmer for another 10 minutes, or until the corn is tender.
5. Season and serve:
Season the soup with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with spring onions if desired. Serve hot with rice.

Add carrots and daikon radish. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes, or until vegetables are tender.
Add sliced beef and cook until just done, about 2-3 minutes.
Season with salt and pepper.
Garnish with cilantro and serve hot.

Apple Carrot Pork Rib Soup Recipe

Ingredients:

1 lb pork ribs, cut into 1-inch pieces
2 medium carrots, peeled and chopped
2 apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
1/2 teaspoon salt or to taste
8 cups water
2 slices ginger
chopped scallions for garnish

Instructions:

Wash the pork ribs and blanch them in boiling water for a few minutes to remove any impurities.
Rinse the ribs under cold water and drain.
In a large pot over high heat, combine the pork ribs, carrots, apples, salt, ginger slices, and water.
Bring the mixture to a boil.
Reduce the heat to medium and simmer for 3 to 4 hours, or until the soup reduces to about 8 cups of liquid and the pork ribs are tender.
Skim off any fat from the surface of the soup.

Easy Wonton Soup Recipe

This is an easy wonton soup for anyone looking for a base recipe. You can add more elaborate ingredients to the soup such as mushrooms, spinach, bok choy, celery, prawns, etc. Or just enjoy its simplicity the way it is!

Ingredients:

Wontons:

1 pound ground pork

2 green onions, minced

1 large egg, beaten

2 teaspoons hot sauce

ground black pepper to taste

1 (16 ounce) package wonton wrappers

Soup:

2 (32 ounce) cartons chicken broth

1 (1 inch) piece fresh ginger, grated

5 green onions, sliced

Salt and pepper to taste

1 dash soy sauce, or to taste

Directions:

Make the wontons: Mix pork, green onions, egg, hot sauce, and pepper together in a bowl. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Place a heaping teaspoon pork mixture in the center of a wonton wrapper. Moisten the edges with water. Fold the bottom point to the top point, creating a triangle, and pinch to seal. Fold the outer two points in toward the center and pinch together. Repeat to form remaining wontons.

Make the soup: Pour chicken broth into a pot and bring to a rolling boil. Add grated ginger, then add wontons; cook until wontons float to the surface, about 6 minutes.

Season the broth with salt and white pepper to taste.

Garnish each bowl with green onions and soy sauce.
