Borobiliran Festival officially kicks-off, LGU launches 'Myra Cares'

As part of 312th Biliran Founding Anniversary, the Borobiliran Festival has officially commenced, September 10, in the Municipality of Biliran with a meticulously organized schedule, showcasing the talents of Biliranons and Municipality's rich cultural heritage and community spirit.

Meanwhile, the theme of the event "Celebrating vibrancy and resiliency: Journeying to respond the needs of time through Myra cares".

The festive event started early with 6:00 AM Anniversary Thanksgiving Mass, at San Juan Plaza, and at 8: 27 AM, the streets came alive with a Grand Parade and Street Dancing around the town, focusing on the local talents and enthusiasm.

The main Anniversary Program at 9:00 AM featured series of ceremonial events including singing of the Pambansang Awit or National Anthem, Bagong Pilipinas Hymn, and the Biliran Hymn, held at San Juan Plaza.

Moreover, the Municipal Mayor Hon. Myra A. Cabrales will deliver the welcome message, followed by an audio presentation on " A Glimpsed of the Municipal Tourism Development Projects ". Also present are Congressman Gerardo J. Espina Jr., Governor Gerard Roger M. Espina, and Board Member Grace J. Casil who will share their messages of support of the event.

In addition, the event includes the launch and opening salvo of the Municipal Jingle to be performed by selected municipal employees, as well as the former Biliran Municipal Mayors, and the introduction of the Board of Judges.

Furthermore, the celebration will also present a various participation of contingents in the Borobiliran Festival competition, bringing each their own unique talents to the event, Biliran National Agricultural High School (BNAHS) will present TRIBU PAGASPAR, BIPSU-BilCam will stand out with TRIBU BALANGHAI, SK & Liga ng mga Barangay will unite in PUNDOK SA KABATAANG PEDERASYON, and the Biliran Science High School (BILSCIE) will captivate the audience with TRIBU MADASIGON.

While, the event also gives prominence to the distribution of live births, learning materials, generator sets, and agricultural inputs, marching band exhibitions will held by BNAHS and BILSCIE, the day will be concluded with awarding of the winners of Borobiliran Festival competition, with exhibition of the BIPSU Marching Band as well.

Municipal Vice Mayor Hon. Benedicto E. Corpin will deliver the closing remarks, capping off a day filled with community pride and celebration.

Following a lunch break at 12:00 PM, the afternoon includes traditional games at the Municipal Ground, and in the evening festivities is the "Wet & Wild" Arriba Party at San Juan Plaza with a live band performance starting at 7:00 PM. The day will be concluded with a spectacular fireworks display at 11:00 PM.

JUST IN || LGU BILIRAN SHOWCASES ITS OWN SPECTACULAR BOROBILIRAN FESTIVAL
As part of the celebration of Borobiliran festival, the Biliranons commenced with an early mass held at San Juan Plaza followed by the grand parade and street dancing, today.

History of Biliran

The name of the first town Biliran came from the term Borobiliran was derived from the name of a native grass which abundantly grew, founded in 1712, also during this time, the island was part of the province of Cebu.

Furthermore, this is the first time that biliranons will perform street dancing competition also the Borobiliran Festival is a testament to the rich cultural heritage of Biliran, showcasing the vibrant traditions and strong community spirit of its people, while the festival serves as a reminder of the island's history and its enduring connection to its past.

Moreover, the Borobiliran Festival also strengthens the unity of Biliranons, as participants from the Biliran Municipality and different schools come together to showcase traditional dances, colorful costumes, and music, the festival promotes local culture and draws visitors from nearby areas, boosting tourism and community pride.

𝗜𝗻 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝘀|| 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗼𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗢𝘂𝘁

Mixed emotions were felt by the teaching and non-teaching personnels of Biliran National Agricultural High School as they celebrated prominently the success of Dr. Andrian P. Palconit who was promoted as the new School Head of Canila Elementary School. September 5, 2024.

In addition, Dr. Palconit served BNAHS for 13 years leaving his position as the Academic Head Teacher of the school. His immeasurable contribution in the field of leadership and research has given enough inspiration and motivation among the teachers and people that encircle him.

With its purpose of informing parents and students about school policies, DepEd order issuances, programs, and activities, the Biliran National Agricultural High School spearheded by the school principal, Mrs. Jennifer D. Veruen together with her were the speakers; Ms. Thelma Gervacio and Dr. Andrian Palconit, conducted an orientation for all grade levels to ensure the dissemination of future school plans to both students and parents. Last Saturday, the orientation was scheduled for grades 7, 9, and 11 in the activity center.

Following the orientation, a homeroom meeting was held to elect homeroom officers and address other classroom-related concerns.

Furthermore, for grades 8, 10, and 12, the school has not yet provided a specified date for their orientation.

Bansang Agrikultura, Paaralang maki- Agrikultura!

With another great milestone, the Biliran National Agricultural High School's proposed hydroponics farming will soon be implemented as the Department of Agriculture as the prime partner of this project has approved the proposal submitted by Mrs. Monaliza Petilos, Master Teacher of the Senior High School Department through Mr. Limuel D. Antonio, Biliran- Municipal Agriculturist.

The overarching purpose of the said farming is to elevate the experiences of the learners through hands-on application while also promoting both academic and personal growth.

Moreover, the said project will be financially supported by private stakeholders headed by Annabelle Arante Picz, Donald R. Bishop, Harmony Devoe, and Jon Devoe.

𝙅𝙐𝙎𝙏 𝙄𝙉| As disclosed in Proclamation No. 282 (Amendment to No. 1008 issued in 1997), August is declared as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Month. Meanwhile, Biliran National Agricultural High School is participating in this month-long celebration by encouraging teachers to wear cultural attire from ASEAN countries during the flag ceremony. The said celebration highlights the importance, value, and recognition to the ASEAN organization.

Moreover, the flag-ceremony was headed by the PSDS of Biliran District, Dr. Cristy Lyn G. Meracap together with her is the BNAHS principal, Mrs. Jennifer D. Veruen.

𝔾𝕠𝕠𝕕 ℕ𝕖𝕨𝕤| To ensure that basic education services are provided to all public schools, the Biliran National Agricultural High School received 2 storage cabinets from the DepEd-Central Office yesterday. The cabinet is designed to safely store and organize tools depending on the needs of the school.

At BNAHS, these cabinets will be used for agricultural tools to ensure they are safely stored and do not pose any risk to students in the classroom.

BNAHS officially welcomes new academic year.

Brimming with enthusiasm and optimism, BNAHS started the school year with a flag ceremony conducted by the Master Teachers, July 29.

"Thank you for choosing BNAHS!", was the opening statement of Mrs. Jennifer D. Veruen, Principal I. She highlighted about making the school year more productive and achieving all the goals of the school.

Moreover, Dr. Andrian P. Palconit, Head Teacher I introduced the teachers per grade level with their designations.

Balita || BNAHS opisyal nang pinasimulan ang Brigada Eskwela 2024

Sa pagsisimula ng muling pagbubukas ng taon sa paaralan, nananalaytay ang bayanihan sa bawat isa bilang bahagi ng taunang Brigada Eskwela. Ang Biliran National Agricultural High School, kasama ng iba't ibang mga stakeholders ng Biliran District ay nagsama-sama upang pasimulan ang Brigada Eskwela, Hulyo 22.

Pinasimulan ang programa ng isang motorcade na pinangunahan ng mga tagapangasiwa ng paaralan, mga g**o, mga magulang at mag-aaral, at mga stakeholders.

Ang Brigada Eskwela ay taunang aktibidad sa lahat ng pampublikong paaralan sa buong bansa kung saan ang lahat ng g**o, mag-aaral, magulang, at mga stakeholders ay inaanyayahan na boluntaryong tumulong sa paglilinis, at pag-aayos ng paaralan para sa muling pagbubukas ng klase.

Kaakibat sa tema na "Bayanihan para sa MATATAG na paaralan", pinaalalahanan ang lahat ukol sa pagkakaisa upang manatiling maayos at matatag ang paaralan para sa buong taon na pananatili at pag-aaral ng ating mga mag-aaral.

Muli ang BNAHS ay nananawagan sa lahat ng kabahagi nito na boluntaryong tumulong para sa pagsasagawa ng Brigada Eskwela.

Just In || BNAHS NLC Team Successfully Concludes 2024 Summer Learning Camp

After 15 days of interactive learning camp, the Biliran National Agricultural High School successfully concluded the National Learning Camp (NLC) with a Culminating Activity, July 18, 2024.

NLC is one of the Department of Education's strategies to address the "learning crisis" of the learners during the pandemic. Hence, the camps such as Intervention, Consolidation and Enhancement are based on the online assessment of the students.

Headed by Mrs. Jennifer D. Veruen, Principal, together with Dr. Andrian P. Palconit, Head Teacher , Mrs. Medalla M. Palconit, Head Teacher, and the teacher-volunteers, the NLC ended with a blast of surprises and presentations. Learners received certificates, school supplies and snacks from our generous sponsors.

Ten months ago, I was elected as the new Editor-in-Chief of 'The Landmark Publication'. Taking on this significant role is an honor that enhances the reputation of the publication. It is a privilege to assist co-journalists with their written articles for review. Serving as the EIC in the team is both a challenge and a reward. Furthermore, the heartwarming fact highlighted by the publication's journalists last year is the pride in their efforts to reach the National Schools Press Conference, representing the Biliran National Agricultural High School in online publishing Filipino category, while this year, 12 Student Journalists are Regional Qualifiers.

As the EIC, I served as the guiding light for the team, entrusted with the authority to manage the entire team to ensure productive article development. My guidance often carried significant weight in the process of building teamwork. Managing the editorial team and ensuring overall coherence were not easy tasks however, if being an EIC holds a special place in our hearts, the burdens fade away, and the publication standards are always maintained. The role is not that basic as others think, however it's about the experiences that matter most and last long towards infinity.

Sa mundo at larangan ng malayang pamamahayag, marami ang mga bagay na natutunan ko mula sa aking mga karanasan.

Bilang punong patnugot ng Ang Bakas, responsibilidad ko na pangasiwaan ang grupo. Napagtanto ko na mahalaga ang pagkakaisa at pag-uunawaan. May mga oras na sinubok ang aming katatagan pero lumaban lang.

Noong 2022 ay unang lakas ng loob kong pinasok ang mundo ng pahayagan sa aming paaralan. Hindi man pinalad na magwagi sa DSPC sa taong ito nanatili akong positibo.

Samantala, sa ikalawang pagsubok ay napagtagumpayan ng aking grupo sa Desktop Publishing Filipino Category na magwagi at naitanghal sa ikatlong pwesto sa buong dibisyon.

Hindi lang ito ang naging panalo ng pangkat bagkus humakot pa ng iba't ibang espesyal na parangal sa Pampaaralang Pamahayagan at naisama pa sa RSPC na pinalad naman na sasabak sa NSPC.

Sa kabila ng aming tagumpay, samo't saring pagsubok ang siyang aming hinarap tulad ng mga hindi pagkakaintindihan, at mga salitang natatanggap mula sa isa't isa dulot ng sobrang pagod na aming nararamdaman.

Subalit bilang pinuno ng aming grupo ay matapang ko itong hinarap hindi lamang para sa akin kundi para sa amin kung kaya't marami kaming napagtagumpayan sa nagdaang DSPC 2023.

Isang karangalan ang maging parte ng Ang Bakas. Makatutulong ito sa pag-unlad ko bilang tao at bilang mamayang Pilipino.
