๐ฃ๏ธLet's take a moment to appreciate our unique language & culture. Usually, we teach visitors the Ivatan translation of "Thank You." However, especially in this age of social media, many of us, including fellow Ivatans, often misspell the Ivatan expression for "Thank You" as "DIOS MAMAJES" instead of the correct spelling, which is "DIYOS MAMAHES." ๐
Let's work together to normalize the use of the correct spelling when posting on social media. Remember, "Diyos" is a borrowed word, and using "J" is usually reserved for noun words. The literal meaning of the words in this expression is "Diyos" which means "God" and "mamahes" which means "repay". Let's embrace & preserve the authenticity of our language & culture for generations to come. ๐บ
Spread the word, & let's make "DIYOS MAMAHES" the standard way to express our gratitude in Ivatan! ๐
