Lalawigan ng Batanes, Kabilang sa Top Fastest-Growing Provinces sa buong bansa ayon sa Philippine Statistics Authority

Ayon sa 2023 Economic Performance Report of Provinces mula sa Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) ang lalawigan ng Batanes ang fastest-growing local economy sa buong bansa.

Matapos ang pandemya, ang lalawigan ng Batanes ay muling naibalik ang sigla ng ekonomiya lalo na nang magbukas na ito sa turismo na nag resulta sa mabilis na paglago ng ekonomiya nito. Naglatag umano ang Lokal na Pamahalaan ng Batanes ng ibat-ibang reporma at programa upang patuloy ang pag unlad at paglago ng turismo sa lalawigan. Kabilang na rin dito ang patuloy na marketing at promotion, suporta sa mga tourism stakeholders gaya ng pagsasagawa ng development trainings sa mga tourguides, operators, accommodation operators at maging livelihood workers.

Ang mabilis na paglago ng ekonomiya ng lalawigan ay resulta ng pagkakaisa at pagtutulungan ng Provincial Government, Municipal Local Government Units, Barangays, National Government Agencies, pribadong sektor at ang buong komunidad.

Sa kabila ng pagkakakilala sa probinsya bilang pinakamaliit na lalawigan sa buong bansa at madalas tamaan o daanan ng mga malalakas na bagyo, patuloy ang pagbangon nito sa ibat-ibang hamong kinakaharap na siyang nagpapakita ng katatagan ng mga Ivatan. - May Anne Bata/RP Batanes/ February 10,2025

Sa Usapang Agrikultura tinalakay ni Department of Agriculture Spokesperson ASec. Arnel de Mesa ang patungkol sa kasalukuyang ipinapatupad na Food Security Emergency sa bansa kung saan apektado ang presyo ng bigas sa bansa.

Ayon kay ASec. De Mesa, nagkaroon ng Food Security Emergency hindi dahil sa kakapusan ng bigas kundi dahil sa extraordinary increase sa presyo ng bigas kung saan naitala sa bahagi ng Cebu o sa Region 7 o sa mga Metro Areas ng bansa.

Sa ngayon ay prayoridad na mabigyan ng ahensya ng bigas mula sa NFA ang mga lugar o areas na may sobrang pagtaas sa presyo. Hinikayat din niya ang mga tanggapan ng DA dito sa Region 02 na patuloy ang pagsagawa ng monitoring sa presyo ng bigas upang makapaglatag ang ahensya ng intervention para dito. – Myzel N.
