BARANGAY COUNCILOR SACKED FOR IRREGULARITIES IN CASH SUBSIDY DISTRIBUTION

Camp General Alejo S Santos, City of Malolos --- A barangay councilor of San Agustin, Hagonoy, Bulacan was arrested Saturday night by Bulacan Police in town of Hagonoy for alleged graft and corruption regarding anomalous distribution of Social Amelioration Program (SAP) cash subsidy to low income families who are financially affected by the COVID-19 crisis.

PCOL LAWRENCE B CAJIPE, Provincial Director of Bulacan PNP, identified the arrested village councilor as Danilo Flores y Ramos, 66 years old, Barangay Kagawad of San Agustin, Hagonoy, Bulacan.

Based on the report of PLTCOL ROGINALD FRANCISCO, Acting Chief of Police of Hagonoy Municipal Police Station (MPS), the allegation against the suspect was confirmed thru a viral video uploaded in social media, wherein Danilo Flores was collecting more than half of the six thousand five hundred pesos (PHP 6,500) cash aid of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) SAP. In the video, Danilo Flores was instructing the recepients of SAP cash subsidy that they would only be given the cash aid of P3,000, while the remaining P3,500 would be given to the town mayor for distribution to those who did not qualify for the SAP financial assistance. However, Mayor Raulito Manlapaz denied any involvement in the alleged anomalies in the ditribution of SAP cash aid.

The suspect is now under the custodial facility of the Hagonoy MPS and criminal charges for Violation of Sec. 3(b) RA 3019 (Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act)

Amid of the COVID-19 crisis, Bulacan Police is encouraging the public to report any irregularities in the distribution of SAP financial assistance and assures that any local goverment officials who will be proven involved and guilty for any anomalies in the disbursement of the government’s cash subsidy program will be held accountable as directed by as directed by the Regional Director of PRO3 PBGEN RHODEL O SERMONIA.
