Through tears that fall, the heart still beats,
A rhythm strong in sorrow's feats.

Guiding love along the way.

Yesterday, we mourn the passing of 𝙁𝙧. 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙤 𝘼𝙥𝙤𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙧, a cherished mentor and priest whose kindness and wisdom touched countless lives. His presence was a gift, and his legacy will forever inspire us. In this moment of sorrow, may we find comfort in the beautiful memories he leaves behind.

On November 5, 2024, Bohol Island State University (BISU) - Balilihan Campus participated in the Professional Criminologists Association of the Philippines (PCAP), Inc. Regional Council 7 (Central Visayas), in collaboration with the Region 7 Council of Deans of Criminology and Criminal Justice (R7CODCCJ), held the inaugural Criminology Profession Week at the University of the Visayas-Main Campus in Cebu.

Criminology students from various universities and colleges joined the Regional Inter-Criminology Schools Quiz Bee. Among the participants were third-year criminology students from Bohol Island State University - Balilihan Campus, including Mr. Jayson Batingal and Ms. Cherry Ann Sajulga, as well as criminology interns Ms. Leanne Mae Ejoc and Ms. Cherry Mae Bitasolo.

Ms. Ejoc and Ms. Bitasolo, the criminology interns, secured the 9th place in the contest, while Mr. Batingal and Ms. Sajulga achieved the 11th place.

𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 || 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗴, 𝗗𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 7

Bohol Island State University's criminology students, Ms. Arizza Claire Helig and Mr. Airon Vincent O. Dapar, were recognized among the most outstanding criminology students in Region 7 during the Professional Criminologists Association of the Philippines (PCAP) 3rd Criminology Students Congress 2024, held at the University of the Visayas - Main Campus, Cebu, on November 5, 2024.

PCAP Inc. Regional Council 7, in partnership with the Region 7 Council of Deans of Criminology and Criminal Justice (R7CODCCJ), conducted the search for the Most Outstanding Criminology Students in the region as part of the first Criminology Profession Week celebration from November 3-9, 2024. After a deliberate selection process, 15 students in the region were honored and recognized as outstanding criminology students by Dr. Donald B. Narra, RCrim, Governor of PCAP 7 and Dean of the University of the Visayas - Main Campus, and Atty. Dodelon F. Sabijon, RCrim, Executive Vice President of PCAP Inc. and President of the R7CODCCJ.

Helig's and Dapar's recognitions were accompanied by the very proud Dean of the College of Criminal Justice, Dr. Marry Joyce Gudmalin-Ale, together with their parents. Their achievements reflect academic excellence, leadership, strong character, and dedicated community service, setting a positive example within the criminology community.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 || Dr. Lister Anthony Maglinte, the University Dentist, conducted a dental check-up and tooth extraction for BISU students and employees on November 6, 2024 at the Campus Clinic. In the morning, there was a dental education that aimed to discuss dental care to address oral health issues and promote lasting dental hygiene. Dr. Maglinte was also assisted by the Campus Nurses, Mrs. Juliedin Ramo and Mrs. Eschiel Cleo Mejorada.

𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗡𝗢𝗪 || BISU Balilihan Undergoes 7S Evaluation

Bohol Island State University - Balilihan Campus is currently hosting a 7S Evaluation as part of its ongoing commitment to campus improvement and organizational efficiency. This Stage 2 visit aims to reinforce standards across campus facilities and operations.

The evaluation started early this morning, including a courtesy call, the singing of hymns, and an opening prayer. The Campus, Director Dr. Jean F. Nebrea, along with the process owners, formally welcomed the evaluators and acknowledged the significance of the assessment in improving campus operations.

Mr. Nelson L. Relayosa, serving as Team Leader, heads the group of evaluators, from BISU Clarin Campus. The team includes Ms. Blandina M. Ombajin, Ms. Jusel A. Monalim, Mr. Normane U. Mejares, Dr. Melissa L. Loquere, and Ms. Pretty Mae A. Piezas.

Following the introductory session, the evaluators conducted on-site assessments across campus to ensure that the 7S principles were consistently applied. The evaluation is expected to continue in the afternoon, with the finalization of reports scheduled for later in the day. The recommendations from the evaluators will be shared in an exit conference this afternoon.

𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗡𝗢𝗪 ll Students, Faculty, and Staff of Bohol Island State University - Balilihan Campus convened at the Multi-purpose Covered Court as the Health and Wellness Unit organized an Insurance Orientation spearheaded by Mrs, Juliedin O. Ramo, RN, MAN, Director of Health and Wellness and the prime mover of the event together with Mrs. Eschiel Cleo May R. Mejorada, RN, Campus Nurse and adviser of the First Aiders Guild, with the theme "Securing The Future Together.

The event was supported by the Campus Director, Dr. Jean F. Nebrea, and the Director of Student Development Services, Dr. Jocelyn P. Lumactud.

The Branch Head of The Mercantile Insurance Co, Inc. Cebu Branch, Mr. Celso Gamosa, served as the resource person of the event who discussed essential information on the policy, coverage, and benefits of accident insurance.

This November 4, 2024, Bohol commemorates Carlos P. Garcia Day, a special holiday dedicated to the life and legacy of President Carlos P. Garcia, a revered Boholano leader. Known for his "Filipino First" policy, Garcia championed national pride, economic self-reliance, and cultural preservation. CPG Day offers Boholanos a chance to reflect on his values and contributions, inspiring the community to uphold his vision of unity, progress, and patriotism. This day celebrates both the heritage and resilience of the Boholano people.

All Souls' Day, celebrated on November 2, holds significance for honoring and remembering those who have passed away, especially within Christian traditions. It allows families and communities to unite in reflection and prayer for souls in purgatory, with the belief that such prayers can aid them in finding peace.

On All Souls' Day, or "Araw ng mga Patay," Filipinos honor their deceased loved ones through various traditions. Families visit cemeteries to clean and decorate graves with flowers and candles, fostering a reflective atmosphere. They pray for departed souls and attend special Masses in their memory. Lighting candles symbolizes hope and remembrance, while sharing meals—sometimes at the cemetery—represents the belief that the spirits join in the celebration. Many homes feature altars with photos, mementos, and favorite foods of the departed. Those abroad may send balikbayan boxes containing gifts to honor the deceased. Families often light colorful lanterns or "parol" to guide spirits home, adding a festive element. These customs highlight family connection, remembrance, and respect for ancestors, reflecting the Filipino value of honoring the deceased.

"𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗮𝘀 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀".

Saints are enduring examples of faith, hope, and love, inspiring us to embrace the goodness within and guiding us on our journey toward divine grace. They lived exemplary lives of faith, and their prayers can benefit the faithful. As James 5:16 says, "The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective," suggesting that saints, as righteous individuals, can intercede for others.

Celebrating All Saints' Day reminds us that holiness exists in all walks of life, honoring both recognized saints and the unsung heroes among us. It is a time to reflect on the lives of those who have gone before us, embracing their virtues and drawing inspiration from their faith as we strive for a deeper connection with our own spirituality and community.

This commemoration fosters a sense of unity among the faithful, connecting us to the rich history of the Church and the promise of eternal life. It encourages Catholics to seek the saints' intercession, emulate their virtues, and strengthen their own faith within the community.

Inangat ko ang aking kamay at ipinatong ang palad sa bibig saka ay napahikab habang binabagtas ang hallway ng department building namin. Kasama ko ang mga kaibigan kong abala sa kaniya-kaniyang mundo nila. Muli akong napahikab, tinatakpan pa rin ng palad ang bibig. Hindi ko na maalala kung anong oras ako natulog kagabi, o siguro umaga na iyon? Ang nararamdaman ko lamang ngayon ay panghihinayang kung bakit ko inubos lahat nang oras na 'yon sa pagbabasa ng nobela, sa halip ay matulog.

"Oy, mal-late daw nang dating si Ma'am. Hintayin lang daw natin siya sa loob ng classroom." Ang pahayag ng Mayor ng section namin nang nasa harapan na kami ng silid-aralan.

Kaagad na nagkasiyahan ang mga kaklase ko sa balita nito at mahinang napasisigaw habang pumapasok kami sa loob. Sekreto rin akong natuwa. Sakto, matutulog muna ako habang wala pa si Ma'am.

Umupo ako sa pinakamalapit na upuan na nakita, tumabi naman iyong mga kaibigan ko sa'kin. May kaniya-kaniya silang ginagawa at pinag-uusapan, hindi ako masyadong nakikisali sa kanila at sanay naman sila na tahimik lang talaga ako. Nang mailagay ang bag sa likod ko, mabilis kong ipinatong sa desk ang mga braso at isinandal doon ang aking ulo.

"Sandra." Tila isang bulong ng hanging dumaan sa aking tainga ang isang pamilyar na boses ng aking kaibigan, ang biglang kumiliti sa akin.

Iminulat ko ang aking mga mata at nakitang nakakurba sa isang nakalolokong ngisi ang mga labi ng kaibigan kong si Cristine.

"Ano ba." Ungot ko.

Humagikhik lamang ito sa akin. "Bibili muna kami sa canteen, habang wala pa si Ma'am. Baka gusto mong magpabili." Sabi nito.

Umiling ako. "Matutulog muna ako." At ibinaon ang mukha sa aking mga braso, hindi na hinintay ang tugon niya. Mas gusto kong matulog ngayon kaysa kumain.

Narinig kong bumukas ang pinto. Nasa loob din ang iba ko pang kaklase, nag-uusap o 'di kaya'y nagtatawanan, ang iba'y sumisigaw na lang bigla habang naglalaro siguro ng ML. Ngunit sa gitna ng ingay nila ay muli akong hinila ng aking antok patungo sa kadiliman. Ang mga boses nila ay tila hinehele ako.

"Sandra..." Pagkaraan ng ilang minuto kong pagtulog ay ayan na naman ang boses.

Inignora ko ang boses dahil alam kong si Cristine lang iyon o kung sinong kaibigan ko, nang-aasar sa taong natutulog. Bahala sila d'yan. Inayos ko ang aking braso at tinakpan ang kanang taingang binulungan nito. Bakit ba ayaw akong tantanan ng isang 'to?

"Sandra..." Rinig na rinig ko pa ang hagikhik nitong tila umalingawngaw sa buong silid. Wari'y gusto talaga akong guluhin.

Kapag ako talaga mapikon...! Muli kong inignora ang boses at nagtulog-tulugan kahit ang totoo niya'y nagawa na niya akong bwesitin. Makakatikim talaga sa'kin 'to, eh.

"Sandra, gising..." Bigla-bigla nitong sigaw sa aking tainga.

Nalukot ang aking mukha at para bang nabasag ang aking eardrums dahil sa biglaang pagsigaw ng malakas nito. Ano ba talaga ang trip niya?!

"Ano ba, Cristine!" Sigaw ko, ngunit nang makitang walang tao sa silid ay namutla ako. Luminga-linga ako sa paligid, subalit walang kahit anino akong nakita. Napalunok ako at naramdamang pinagpapawisan na ako ng malamig.

Napatalon ako nang bumukas na lamang bigla ang pinto. "Sandra? Gising ka na pala. Kanina pa kami naghihintay sa 'yo sa labas. Umuwi na ang mga kaklase natin." Sabi ni Cristine, kasama nito si Liezel na kuryusong nakatingin din sa akin.

"Wala ka bang tulog kagabi?" Nag-aalalang tanong nito.

Napalunok ako, "Nasa labas kayo?"

Nagkatinginan sila na para bang nagtatakha bago bumaling ulit sa akin at tumango. "Kanina pa kami sa labas, hinihintay na magising ka."

On October 29, 2024, the Provincial Government of Bohol, through the Bohol Employment and Placement Office - Public Employment Service Office (BEPO-PESO), conducted a Pre-Employment Orientation Seminar (PEOS) at the Bohol Cultural Center in Tagbilaran City. The attendees were college graduating students and jobseekers from various campuses of Bohol Island State University (BISU), namely BISU-Bilar, BISU-Balilihan, BISU-Candijay, BISU-Calape, and BISU-Clarin, as well as other colleges in Bohol, including Bohol Wisdom School, Bohol North Western College, and Mater Dei College.

The PEOS aims to prepare graduating students—future jobseekers—and current jobseekers with essential employment skills for entering the workforce. It provides guidance and tips on preparing for the future, helping attendees feel confident as they embark on their corporate journey in pursuit of their dream jobs.

𝐁𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐀𝐘-𝐏𝐀𝐍𝐀𝐇𝐎𝐍 || THUNDERSTORMS AND HIGH HUMIDITY EXPECTED IN MAGSIJA, BALILIHAN, BOHOL FROM OCTOBER 28 - NOVEMBER 3, 2024

Residents of Magsija, Balilihan, Bohol, should prepare for a week of scattered thunderstorms and humid weather from October 28 to November 3, 2024. Temperatures are expected to remain stable, mostly at 31°C, with a slight peak at 32°C on October 31 and a slight dip to 30°C on November 3. Rain chances range from 20% to 60%.

Scattered showers will begin on Monday, October 28, with a 50% rain chance and winds of 21 km/h. Thunderstorms are expected to increase on Tuesday and continue through much of the week. The days leading up to All Saints' Day on November 1 will see particularly active weather, with scattered thunderstorms on both October 31 and November 1.

Humidity levels will be high throughout the week, ranging from 72% to 77%, adding to the warm, damp feel. Winds will vary slightly, with lighter winds of 14 km/h on November 1 and slower speeds through the weekend.

Locals, especially those planning to visit cemeteries for All Saints' Day, are advised to carry umbrellas and stay alert for thunderstorms.
