MCCB BRINGS CHRISTMAS SPIRIT TO BRGY. DIANED THROUGH OUTREACH PROGRAM

Mount Carmel College of Baler (MCCB) held an outreach program at Brgy. Dianed, Dipaculao, Aurora with the theme “Yakap ng Pagmamahal ni Hesus,” December 20.

Instead of holding the traditional festive Christmas party, MCCB held a simple institutional celebration of yuletide season through gift giving. MCCB personnel and students visited Dianed, a barangay in the municipality of Dipaculao, hit by super typhoon Pepito last November.

The event formally started with an opening prayer led by Sister Victoria Chrisely Lao, member of the Carmelite Missionary Sisters of St. Therese of the Child Jesus (CMSSTCJ) and Christian Formation Program (CFP) Coordinator of MCCB. It was followed by welcome remarks given by Barangay Captain Evangeline B. Duaso. Capt. Duaso extended her warm regards and gratitude to everyone, especially to MCCB for choosing their barangay to be part of the institution’s gift giving program this year.

The lively atmosphere of the event further heightened with the games prepared for children. Winners expressed their joy as they received their prizes. During a short break, the participants partook of the nutritious snacks, which were rice porridge and pandesal.

Rev. Fr. Dave D. Capucao, Executive Vice President (EVP) of MCCB, delivered a short but meaningful message in which he highlighted the purpose of the event. “MCCB chose to celebrate the true spirit of Christmas through the simple act of sharing with the victims of the last typhoon Pepito.”

Three hundred food packs and other accumulated goods from Carmelian community were distributed to the families and residents of Brgy. Dianed.

Mrs. Criselda Domingo, a resident of Brgy. Dianed and one of the beneficiaries during the outreach program, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to MCC: “Matindi ang pinsalang naiwan ng bagyong Pepito sa aming mga tahanan at sa aming kabuhayan. Maraming salamat sa MCC sa pagdadala ng saya at pag-asa sa aming barangay ngayong panahon ng Pasko.”

The outreach program concluded with expressions of appreciation and gratitude from the residents of Brgy. Dianed. MCCB promised to extend continuously its hands to help the poor communities and share joy and hope to the needy as ways of exemplifying the Carmelian spirit of prayer, compassion, and prophetic action.
