IN PHOTOS: The Higher Education Department (HED) of Mount Carmel College of Baler (MCCB) hosted a seminar on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Learning Management Systems (LMS) at the Audio-Visual Room (AVR) of the MCCB Extension Campus on February 22. The seminar brought together both full-time and part-time faculty members of the HED for a comprehensive discussion on the latest advancements in digital education.
Facilitated by Engr. Jale M. Nonan, Principal Consultant of BEENET—an international company specializing in educational technology—the seminar explored a range of topics aimed at enhancing the learning and teaching experience. Engr. Nonan, a noted expert in the field, led the discussion on three key areas: CopyLeaks onboarding, AI in education and AI tools, and updates to the Open LMS, with a focus on Personalized Learning Design (PLD).
One of the main highlights was Engr. Nonan’s presentation on CopyLeaks, a tool designed to help educators address plagiarism and safeguard data privacy. The session also delved into the growing role of AI in education, with Engr. Nonan sharing practical tools that teachers can incorporate to create more engaging and interactive classes.
The seminar concluded with an in-depth exploration of the new features in the Open LMS, emphasizing the importance of personalized learning to meet the diverse needs of students and educators. The integration of these technological advancements was positioned as a significant step toward improving both online teaching and learning environments.
Organized to equip HED faculty with the skills and knowledge needed to integrate modern technology into their teaching practices, the seminar aligns with MCCB’s vision to provide high-quality education through innovative pedagogy. It also served as an opportunity for faculty to enhance their digital instruction capabilities in line with the college's commitment to fostering an advanced learning environment.
