"𝕿𝖍𝖊 𝕳𝖊𝖆𝖗𝖙 𝖔𝖋 𝕰𝖉𝖚𝖈𝖆𝖙𝖎𝖔𝖓: 𝕮𝖊𝖑𝖊𝖇𝖗𝖆𝖙𝖎𝖓𝖌 𝕿𝖊𝖆𝖈𝖍𝖊𝖗𝖘' 𝕯𝖆𝖞"

Teacher's Day is a cherished occasion dedicated to honouring the incredible contributions of educators who shape the minds and futures of countless students.

Before the Teachers' Day program started, all of the Josenian students, educators, and staff gathered for an Institutional Mass, presided by
Fr. Raul M. Buhay. During the Mass Homily, a few teachers shared their touching insights and challenging experiences in alignment with Fr. Buhay's question; "What made you become a teacher? And What is the fulfilment of being a teacher?" All of the teachers who shared were truly a gem for choosing a teaching career path, despite all the challenges, they deserved accolades. In addition, right after the Institutional Mass, students were given a 15-minute health break, where they savoured snacks, and organized surprise gifts for their teachers, while some already surprised their advisers at their respective classrooms, adding an element of excitement to the event.

The much-anticipated event finally initiated: The Teachers' Day Program! The program started with the marching of flags and singing of the Philippine National Anthem. After, the Josenians welcomed Fr. Buhay for his welcome message which was truly heartwarming. And of course, the SSC 11th Congress President, Hayley Repton, shared her warm message for the Josenian Educators and staff. Shortly after the welcome message, all of the educators and staff lined up for their iconic walk with their pairs, showing their one-of-a-kind poses. And after, Miguel Sebastian Ubod, an SSC Grade 6 representative, shared his incredible poem with the Josenian Educators. To ensure the teachers had a memorable and enjoyable time, the SSC prepared a series of fun activities and games, creating a lively atmosphere where the teachers could relax and have fun.

After the games, the Josenian students began to give their respective gifts to the teachers. Where the teachers were showered with gifts from the students who made and bought it with effort. Immediately after, the SSC Members instructed the Educators and staff to form a big circle, where each of the SSC members handed out their thoughtful gifts to all the Educators and staff. However, the celebration is far from over, as the SSC family is set to present a series of awards to our deserving teachers, including categories such as:

As the celebration drew to a close, the SSC 11th Congress Vice President Angel Cabangisan delivered an inspiring closing message that truly captured the spirit of Teacher's Day. She expressed heartfelt gratitude for the dedication, passion, and hard work of the teachers who continue to shape the future of their students. This message served as a powerful reminder of the impact educators have on our lives, not just in the classroom but beyond. With renewed appreciation, the event ended on a high note, leaving everyone with a sense of pride and a deep respect for the role that teachers play in molding the next generation.

October 1, 2024 campus journalists from different universities, including the selected members of ADELANTE Publications, came to gather at University of the Philippines Cebu to partake in a cartooning workshop and exhibit during the 12th Active Vista Human Rights Festival's PAKDEM.

This year’s PAKDEM was marked by a unique collaboration of local journalists and with the International cartoonists; Joshua, The Political Idiot, Zach, StephB, Kak (France), Stellina (Taiwan), Paresh (India) and Wilcox (Australia). The festival brought together brought together storyteller to amplify the call for human rights when facing arrogance, censhorship, and social inequality.

As the 12th Active Vista Festival finally came to an end, it sunken in that the event succeeded in its mission to enhance their and inspire the next generation of journalists. The attendees left PAKDEM not only with smiles on their face, but with new skills and with the sense of purpose.

Earlier today, the Guidance Office of the University of San Jose-Recoletos, Balamban Campus, headed by Mr. James Louie Ramos, conducted a seminar to culminate Su***de Prevention and Mental Health Awareness Month. Two venues were utilized for this event— the Grade School AVR and the Grade School Covered Court.

Guest speakers were invited to educate and raise awareness among the Josenians. Ms. Jenevie Montebon addressed the Grades 8-12 students at the Covered Court, while Ms. Ashley Kaye Maratas conducted the session for Grades 4-7 inside the AVR.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Montebon and Ms. Maratas for their time, dedication, and insightful talks. Their contributions have greatly helped in promoting mental health awareness and empowering students with the knowledge and support they need. Thank you for being part of this important initiative.

Before the commencement of the Science and Mathematics Culmination Activity, an institutional mass was held to honor the feast of St. Vincent De Paul. "St. Vincent De Paul was renowned for his acts of charity and compassion," remarked Rev. Fr. Domingo E. Saladaga, OAR. Additionally, the newly elected SSC and JPTA officers took their oaths, officially assuming their roles at the University of San Jose-Recoletos Balamban Campus. Following the mass, we enjoyed a health break to refuel our stomachs, while the junior high school and senior high school students prepared for the much-anticipated Math Sciyaw 2024!

After a brief period of preparation, the highly anticipated event finally kicked off: the Science and Mathematics Culmination Activity! With the theme “Matematika, Scientia, Teknolohiya, at Innovation,” participants of the Math Sciyaw converged at the Grade School Covered Court, ready to fire up their neurons and dance like electrons in a high-energy state! The excitement was palpable as students showcased their mathematical moves and scientific grooves. And now, let’s celebrate the victors of the Math Sciyaw:

Right after the Math Sciyaw, students were visibly diaphoretic, proving they were indeed releasing more CO₂! As the sun reached its zenith, students took a well-deserved lunch break to refuel their energy reserves. Post-lunch, the most anticipated event of the afternoon unfolded: the search for Mr. and Ms. Ecology 2024! Participants showcased their eco-friendly attires, voiced their concerns about our ecosystem’s challenges, and enlightened us on various environmental issues. As the event concluded, students and teachers eagerly snapped photos with the winners, showcasing their unwavering support and pride. After all, nothing says “we care” like a good photo op! Remember, “Even the smallest act of kindness can make a big impact—just like a single tree can start a forest.” And here’s a fun fact: Did you know that trees can communicate with each other through a network of fungi in the soil? It’s like nature’s very own internet!

EARLIER | The Grade 12 students and some Faculty members of the University of San Jose-Recoletos, Balamban Campus, in partnership with Austal Philippines, actively participated in the International Coastal Cleanup Day at Cotcoton Beach in Arpili, Balamban, Cebu. The event brought together students and corporate volunteers with the shared goal of protecting the marine environment by removing waste and debris from the coastline, fostering environmental awareness and responsibility among the youth and the local community.

Earlier today, the Science and Math Poster Making Competition took place at the High School Audio Visual Room (AVR). The event saw enthusiastic participation from students across grades 7 to 12, with grades 11 and 12 afternoon shift, joining in during the event. This activity provided a platform for students to showcase their creativity and understanding of scientific and mathematical concepts through artistic expression. The competition not only highlighted their skills in visual design but also encouraged critical thinking and the ability to convey complex ideas in a visually compelling way.

𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐍𝐎𝐖 | The Josenian Parents-Teachers Association (JPTA) is holding its General Assembly at the University of San Jose-Recoletos, Balamban Campus. The event is taking place at the Grade School covered court, where both parents and educators have gathered to discuss key matters regarding the academic year, student welfare, and initiatives to strengthen the partnership between home and school.

As part of the event, the JPTA has also organized a raffle draw to show their appreciation for the parents' participation. This adds an element of excitement and engagement, creating a more lively and interactive atmosphere during the assembly.

Congratulations to Gianna Arnaiz and Avril Nim Rivera for their impressive performances at the 2024 National Best of The Best Taekwondo Championships, held at Ayala Malls Manila Bay from September 7-8, 2024. This prestigious competition is exclusively for blackbelt athletes who have previously earned national recognition as medalists.

September 7: Gianna Arnaiz showcased her skills in the Kyurogi competition, competing in the Cadet Female under 164cm category, and proudly took home the silver medal.

September 8: Avril Nim Rivera competed in the Recognized Poomsae Team category, demonstrating precision and grace, and secured a bronze medal.

These outstanding achievements highlight the dedication and talent of our TKD Jaguars. Congratulations to both athletes for their hard work and success!

On this special day, we honor Mary of Nazareth, a humble first-century Jewish woman chosen by God for a profound role in the salvation of humanity. As the mother of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and the devoted wife of St. Joseph, Mary exemplified faith, humility, and unconditional love. Her unwavering trust in God and her strength continue to inspire believers around the world, including the USJ-R Balamban community.

As Josenians, we look to Mama Mary as our model of compassion, service, and devotion. Her virtues are deeply reflected in our mission to serve with a heart for God and others.

Happy Birthday, Mama Mary! May we continue to seek her guidance and protection as we celebrate her life and her extraordinary contribution to our faith.

Leafing through the pages of history, it has been 15 years since the University of San Jose-Recoletos Balamban was established. Every year holds momentous memories and now another unfolds as the students unite and celebrate foundation day. This 15th anniversary is complete with the presence of our guests, the people who built the spirit of the Josenians, and the development of the school.

At the La Consolacion Chapel, students were thrilled that the day would start with a mass, with the previous directors present; the faces in which students would look back and recall the times they had before it led to the present year. Afterward, the CAT Unit-1 officers, cadets, and DBC members, rushed and prepared for the parade and review for the program to commence despite the heat they endured. The students from grades 9-12 showed attentiveness and discipline at the school quadrangle, then presentations took place afterward. Finally, the time has come, the fun they had looked forward to began in the afternoon, filled with joyful individuals spending time with friends and loved ones in booths and games.

Today’s event serves as a reminder. It is not about the number of years but rather the history and the bond that brings students, teachers, and staff together. The establishment of the school led to where the individuals are now; they have lived life fully, responsibly, and excellently with the school’s alma mater.

Mabuhay! 🇵🇭 Ang wika ay isang bagay na ginagamit natin araw-araw, at ang paggalang dito ay talagang makikita sa mga Josenian. Ang Buwan ng Wika ay isang pagdiriwang ng ating kultura. Ang ating kultura ang dahilan kung bakit tayo ay may magagandang kasuotan, masasarap na pagkain sa hapag-kainan, at kung bakit tayo'y itinuturing na tunay na Pilipino.

Kanina, nagsimula tayo ng araw sa pamamagitan ng isang misa sa La Concolacion Chapel, upang ipagdiwang ang ating Panginoon bago simulan ang mga kaganapan. Hindi nagtagal, kumain na ang mga estudyante ng mga pagkaing nagmula sa iba't ibang kultura ng Pilipinas tulad ng lechon, pancit, adobo, at iba pa.

Sa hapon naman, nagtipon ang mga estudyante para sa isang cultural exchange kasama ang ating mga bagong kaibigan mula sa National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST) sa Taiwan, kung saan ibinahagi nila ang ilang bahagi ng kanilang kultura, tulad ng kung paano sabihin ang ilang mga salita sa kanilang wika. Nagpakitang-gilas din ang ating mga mag-aaral mula sa elementarya sa kanilang mga sayaw at pagkanta. Hindi rin natin malilimutan ang mga kalahok sa Lakambini at Lakandiwa, kung saan ipinakita nila ang kanilang magagandang kasuotan, pati na ang masiglang sayaw mula sa ating Performing Arts Club. Maligayang pagbati sa lahat ng nanalo sa Lakambini at Lakandiwa contest—lahat kayo ay tunay na kampeon!

Ang ating kultura ay napakaganda, ngunit hindi ito nakahihigit sa iba. Kaya't dapat nating tratuhin ang ating sariling kultura, at ang iba pa, nang may paggalang. !

“𝐊𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐲 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐨 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐰”

In celebration for the upcoming Buwan ng Wika event, the University of San Jose-Recoletos Balamban Campus hosted a fun little competition wherein both the junior high school, senior high school students and the faculty members took a time of their day to play a few filipino games; among of which are Patentero, Chinese Garter, and Takyan.

Although exhausting, like a breath of fresh air, these games are a helpful way to release stress and relieve ourselves from academic struggles. As well as the means to connect with our culture by participating in “larong pinoy” activities.

The atmosphere during these games was full of enthusiasm and excitement from our learners. It was a joy to see each and every one of their faces letting loose and having fun, at the same time bonding with their fellow students. With the facilitation of our supreme student council (SSC), the program went smoothly.

It was a delightful sight to be surrounded with such optimism. We hope to see more of this anticipation during the proper Buwan ng Wika program held tomorrow on campus. We hope that these bonds and feelings carry on even during regular day to day activities. Hence, let us put on a smile and never forget to enjoy the rest of our school days. Adelante!

EARLIER | an Institutional Mass was held at the La Consolacion Chapel to celebrate the feast of St. Augustine. The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Rev. Fr. Domingo Saladaga, OAR, along with Rev Fr. Ni**od Launio, OAR. This significant event brought together members of the academic community in a spirit of unity and reflection, honoring the life and teachings of St. Augustine, a revered figure whose wisdom continues to inspire the Recollect community. Fr. Saladaga's homily emphasized the enduring relevance of St. Augustine's message in today's world, calling on everyone to deepen their faith and commitment to the values of St. Augustine.

幸会幸会 !

Earlier today, the High School Department of the University of San Jose-Recoletos, Balamban, hosted a special program to welcome the delegation from the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NUTST). The event was held at the Grade School Covered Court, which was transformed into a vibrant and welcoming venue for the occasion.

During the program, students from NUTST and the University had the opportunity to interact and get to know one another through a series of fun and engaging activities. The visiting students from NUTST prepared a variety of interactive games, cultural exchanges, and team-building exercises, all designed to foster camaraderie and mutual understanding between the two groups. The Josenians enthusiastically participated, making the event not only a learning experience but also a joyful celebration of international friendship and collaboration.

"𝐌𝐠𝐚 𝐏𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐢: 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐭 𝐈𝐩𝐚𝐠𝐝𝐢𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐠."

Bawat taon, ang bansang Pilipinas ay ipinagdiriwang ang National Heroes Day tuwing ika-28 ng Agosto. Itinakda ang araw na ito upang ipagdiwang and kabayanihan ng lahat ng bayani sa ating bansa. Bakit nga ba natin ipinagdiwang ang kabayanihan ng ating mga bayani?

Ang araw na ito ay hindi isang okasyon lang ngunit isang mahalagang araw sa historya ng ating bansa dahil ito ay isang araw na sumisimbolo sa sakripisyo at kontribusyon ng bawat indibidwal na ibinigay ang kanyang kaluluwa at buhay para sa ating minamahal na Pilipinas.

Lahat ng bayani sa ating bansa ay dumaan sa lahat ng hamon upang ipaglaban ang kalayaan, i sakripisyo ang kanilang dignidad at pagkatao at higit sa lahat i alay ang kanilang buhay para sa katarungan. Kaya dapat natin dapat nating kilalanin, parangalan at isabuhay ang kanilang kwento.

Isa sa mga tanyag na bayani sa ating bansa na siya namang kinikilalang pambansang bayani na si Dr. Jose Rizal, isang iskolar at manunulat. Tinaguriang isa sa mga pinaka-maimpluwensyang bayani ng bansa. Siya ang sumulat o ang may-akda sa kinikilalang libro na "Noli Me Tangere" at "El Filibusterismo”. Ang mga libro na ito ay naglalaman ng mga impormasyon tungkol sa pamamahala ng mga espanyol sa ating bansa na siya namang naging inspirasyon ng mga mamayang Pilipino upang ipaglaban ang ating karapatan sa hindi makatarungang ginawang pamamahala ng mga espanyol. Ang pagsusulat ang naging paraan ni Rizal upang isiwalat ang katotohanan sa panahon ng mga Espanyol. Naging isang mahabang labanan ang nangyari para sa kalayaan ng bansa at ang kapalit neto ang pagkamatay ng ating bansang bayani na si Rizal.

Sa paggunita ng National Heroes Day, hindi natin limitahan ang ating kalaaman sa mga kilalang bayani lamang bagkus, ating dagdagan ang ating kalaaman sa pagkilala sa mga ibat ibat ibang indibidwal na naging bayani sa ating bansa. Dapat din nating bigyang karangalan sa kanilang nagawa para sa bayan at ating kilalanin ang kanilang kabayanihang nagawa. Atin ding bigyang parangal ang mga bayani na hindi man sa libro at kasaysayan natin natuklasan ngunit sila ang bayani na may dedikasyon sa pagtaguyod ng isang maunlan at makatarungang bansa kagaya na lamang ng ating mga g**o, doctor, nurse, at iba pang mga indibidwal na may puso na tumulong sa ting bansa. Sila ang ating modernong bayani na patuloy na nagbibigay serbisyo sa ating bayan na ating dapat tularan.

Ang National Heroes Day ay nagbibigay sa atin ng malaking kontribusyon na dapat nating isabuhay at isaisip sapagkat kung hindi dahil Sa sakripisyo ng ating mga bayani, hindi natin matatamo ang kasalukuyan na ating ginagalawan ngayon. Naging daan ang kanilang kabayanihan para sa ating kalayaan. Sa pagdiriwang ng araw na ito, naging daan ito para ating pag isipan ang kahalagahan ng kabayanihan, pagtulog sa ating kapwa at pagmamalaki sa ating lahi. Kaya isapuso natin ang pagiging pilipino at patuloy ang pagserbisyo sa ating bansa. Naway patuloy nating gunitain ang national heroes day at ipagdiwang ang katapangan ng ating mga bayani para mabigyan halaga ang bansang malaya.

#ToTheFore 𝘼𝘿𝙀𝙇𝘼𝙉𝙏𝙀 Feature| “𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐬 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫” 𝘈 𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘈 𝘴𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘭 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘚𝘦𝘱𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳 4𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘯 𝘢 𝘔𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘞𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘭𝘢𝘨 𝘰𝘧 𝘜𝘚𝘑𝘙 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘑𝘰𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘴, 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘥𝘢𝘺! On this day the University of San Jose - Recoletos Balamban, blissfully celebrates its 14th Foundation Day with the theme– “Embracing the spirit of Seek, Share, and Serve: Celebrating our journey of significance”. Looking back to the 3rd of September year 2009, when the campus was first established, we can say that we have truly made it this far. Fourteen years since then, our school has seen students come, grow and go. As the years pass by, old students say “goodbye” and new ones come to say “hello”. Every year feels the same as the one before, yet looking back, everything changed. And as we continue to celebrate and reminisce from the day we started, we carry on appreciating the days that have not ended. The day started with the students assembled at the quadrangle at 7:30AM for the Flag Ceremony. As the students gather for the morning assembly, colors of yellow, blue, red, orange and green brighten our school’s atmosphere. After the flag ceremony everyone proceeded to the La Concolacion Chapel for the Holy Mass. As the mass ends with the recessional, everybody walked towards their respective teams for the 𝘤𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘶𝘴 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘦. The parade started at 9:00AM and both the students and staffs stroll around the campus with a proud look on their faces while wearing their team colo

#ToTheFore 𝘼𝘿𝙀𝙇𝘼𝙉𝙏𝙀 Feature| 𝐁𝐮𝐰𝐚𝐧 𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐢𝐤𝐚 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑: 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐠𝐚 𝐊𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐛𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐢𝐤𝐚 Agosto 31,2023 huling araw sa buwan ng Agosto, ay ipinagdiwang ng University of San Jose-Recoletos Balamban, ang Buwan ng Wika 2023! Ang bawat estudyante ng paaralan ay nagtipon noong 7:30 ng umaga upang mag seremonya ng bandila at mag-anunsyo ng Buwan ng Wika. Ang mga iba't-ibang maningning at magagandang mga kasuotan ay nakapagbibigay-buhay sa paligid at sa mga tao. Pagdating ng 8:00 AM naman ay pinapunta ang lahat sa La Consolacion Chapel upang manalangin at magsamba sa Diyos. "Ako ay natuwa noong narinig ko ang paggamit ng wikang tagalog sa misa na nagpapakita na ang USJ-R Balamban Campus ay magalang sa pagpapakita ng ating sinaunang kutultura," sabi ni Miguel Bioy noong siya'y dumalo sa misa. Sa oras ng 9:30 AM ay nagsimula ang selebrasyon sa ating wika na unang ginunita ng Ama ng Wika at ang dating pangulo na si Manuel L. Quezon. Sa oras na ito, ang mga Scouts at School Nurses ay nasa gilid, handang magbigay serbisyo sa mga nangangailangan kaya dapat tayo'y magpasalamat sa kanilang serbisyo. Sa bungad pambati ni Father Buhay, siya'y nagbigay ng napaka-aliw at napakagandang mensahe sa talumpati, "tayo ay Pilipino, hindi 𝑭𝒆𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒐, at dapat tayo magpasalamat na nabuo ang lingguwaheng tagalog at bisaya na ating ibinibigkas parin kahit ngayon," ang unang ibinigkas ng Pari. Bago simulan ang paligsahan sa sinasalitang tula ay naghiyawan ang bawat baitang upang ipakita ang suporta sa mga magwiwika. Ang magwiwika naman ay nagpapakita ng kanya-kanyang mga lakas, ipinapakita ang kanilang buong emosyon at ang kani-kanilang pag-iisip tungkol sa wika at ang ating bansa.
