The Bacolod Tay Tung High School Senior High School (BTTHS SHS) Department celebrated the annual Christmas Party yesterday, December 19, 2024.

Students celebrated through hosting inter-section batch games, Manito-Manita/Exchange Gift, and their luncheon. Students also spread the Christmas cheer beyond their classrooms, with some giving out their extra foods from their parties to people.

โ€œIt was fun since we were able to use the gym. We had four games, and we really enjoyed them all. After our games, we returned to our classroom to have our lunch and to exchange gifts,โ€ Noelle Apuhin, a student from the STEM Strand of Grade 11, stated.

She also added, โ€œThe most significant part was our exchange of gifts activity. We were able to feel the Christmas spirit, after working hard on our academics the past week.โ€

As part of the institution's annual outreach, the Bacolod Tay Tung High School Community Involvement and External Linkages Office (BTTHS CIELO), partnered with the BTTHS Student Council Organization (SCO) and the Clarion, visited the schoolโ€™s adopted community, Gawad Kalinga Cabug (GK Cabug), yesterday, December 14, 2024, following the theme โ€œThe Joy of Christmas.โ€

The gifts and grocery items were collectively donated by the entire school across different grade levels and departments, aiming to fulfill the wishes of the familiesโ€™ children.

Students from the aforementioned organizations assisted with the packages filled with essentials, food packs containing food cooked by teachers for the families, and Christmas gifts.

A total of 26 students and teachers visited and immersed themselves in the community of GK Cabug through conversations and bonding with the locals.

โ€œMy heart felt heavy. Seeing the kids being so happy while we brought down the gifts and grocery packs made me realize how lucky I am, because they barely have things they need,โ€ stated Julianna Espuerta, an undersecretary of the BTTHS SCO.

Espuerta then added, โ€œI felt happy that I was among the people who brought a smile to their faces . . .โ€

The institutional outreach is among the school's annual traditions to celebrate the Christmas season. It is also part of the institutionโ€™s efforts to increase community involvement and self-development within the school community.

The Grade 12 students and teachers of Bacolod Tay Tung High School Senior High School (BTTHS SHS), along with the Community Involvement and External Linkages Office and BTTHS Personnel, conducted the departmentโ€™s annual tree-planting activity in Don Salvador Benedicto on December 6, 2024, in collaboration with the DENR and DSB-AFFA.

The students and personnel planted various kinds of trees at the provided 5-hectare lot, including Nato, Yakal, Mangkono, Bagilumboy, Katmon, Udling, and Bakan.

โ€œAlthough it was my second time doing this tree planting activity, it felt wonderful that I got to be a part of a greater cause for our future,โ€ said Matthew Immanuel Sayman, a Grade 12 - Antares student.

The tree-planting activity has been a staple of the BTTHS SHS department since its inception and is now further reinforced thanks to the institutionโ€™s latest initiative called โ€œTANUM,โ€ or Tay Tung Advocates Natureโ€™s Upholding Mission.

Bacolod Tay Tung Thunderbolts Clinch Back-to-Back Volleyball Titles

November 25 โ€“ Bacolod Tay Tung High School made history once again, claiming their second straight Rebisco Volleyball League National Finals title with a commanding 3-0 win over the University of Batangas.

From start to finish, the Thunderbolts were unstoppable. Their sharp serves, powerful spikes, and rock-solid defense left no chance for their opponents. It was a showcase of teamwork and strategy, proving why they are the team to beat.

In an interview, Finals MVP Dona Mae De Leon shared her thoughts on the teamโ€™s victory and challenges during the competition. โ€œWeโ€™re really proud of our back-to-back championship win, but we know there are things we need to work on as a team,โ€ she said. โ€œOne of our main challenges is our lack of communication, which sometimes makes it hard to stay connected on the court. We also struggle with pride, but weโ€™re doing our best to fix that and focus more on teamwork. We know we need to listen to our coaches and stay focused on the game to bring out our full potential. If we can improve these things, we believe we can keep winning and getting better as a team. This win has motivated us to push even harder and become stronger together. Weโ€™re excited to see what the future holds for us!โ€

This victory not only secured their back-to-back titles but also solidified Bacolod Tay Tungโ€™s status as a powerhouse in Philippine high school volleyball. Their drive, talent, and teamwork continue to inspire young athletes across the country.

The Thunderbolts, who have established a high standard in the Rebisco Volleyball League, appear to have a bright future as they celebrate yet another milestone. Cheers to their ongoing success and many more triumphs in the future!

Noelle Apuhin, Jeremiah Barredo, and Arnie Joanne Suravilla bagged awards across three categories in the Philippine Information Agency Region VIโ€™s (PIA6) first-ever High Schools Press Conference last November 28, 2024, at the Iloilo Grand Hotel, Iloilo City.

All three Panorama student journalists placed in the top three of their respective categories. Noelle Apuhin and Jeremiah Barredo secured second place in English News Writing and Feature Writing, respectively. Meanwhile, Arnie Joanne Suravilla secured third place in Filipino Column Writing.

โ€œActually, I was anxious because I hadn't done much research or preparation, but simply being aware of what was going on gave me confidence that I could handle it. I was not confident about my writing, as I hadn't met its standards well. Thanks to God, I was able to complete and end it successfully while also bringing glory and dignity to the school's name,โ€ said Arnie Joanne Suravilla when asked about her experience.

The three journalists were sent as representatives of the publication after being ranked among the Top 5 in Western Visayas in their categories through a pre-screening conducted via Zoom last November 14, 2024.

On November 4, 2024, Bacolod Tay Tung High School came alive yesterday with the spirited cheers and vibrant energy of its first-ever pep rally. Held in the Po Hang Gym, this historic event marked a new chapter in our schoolโ€™s tradition, aimed at fostering unity and pride among students and staff alike.

People were brimming with anticipation as the last bell of the day rang that afternoon, eager to witness the spectacle. Students and parents filled the bleachers, waving flags of red, blue, green, and gold as the emcees spoke with booming voices that had the crowd chattering excitedly. The venue was packed.

Throughout the rally, various sports teams showcased their talents. From the grace of gymnastics and the speed of athletics to the agility of karate and taekwondo, each performance was met with a wave of applause from the audience. In addition to badminton, table tennis, basketball, volleyball, and swimming, itโ€˜s clear that our dear players possess abilities beyond sports, revealing a true passion for excellence in every endeavor.

But pep rallies arenโ€™t just about entertainment. While they definitely provide excitement before a big game, they also serve as a way to motivate our athletes, who constantly balance the rigorous demands of both sports and academics. They deserve recognition for their incredible dedication, as not only do they conquer the playing field, but also demonstrate immense grit, endurance, and discipline in keeping up with their studies and training.

As the event drew to a close, a sense of pride permeated the room: pride for the 245 athletes, pride for the school, and even a drive to bring back gold. This inaugural pep rally not only kicked off the sports season but also laid the foundation for a new tradition at BTTHS, one that promises to bring the community together for years to come.

As our beloved athletes prepare for their upcoming competitions, let us continue to cheer them on with a resounding โ€œๅคงๅŒๅŠ ๆฒน!โ€
