NEWS — Both the High School (HS) and Grade School (GS) Department partook in the beautiful occasion of the feast day of their beloved directress, Sr. Ezechiel (Zikie) Fernandez, OSB earlier today, September 6th, 2024 at the St. Scholastica's Academy-Bacolod (SSA-B) Gym.

The celebratory day kicked off with the Institutional Mass in the morning followed by a program prepared by students and teachers alike.

Captivating melodies sung and played by the String Virtuosi Club and students Mikhaila Porras, Alexandra Fe Denise Junto, and Hyacinthe Sombe graced the stage as powerful and upbeat dances by the dancers of Garcia-Sanchez School of Dance and the La Figura Club of St. Scholastica's Academy-Bacolod (SSA-B).

The Grade School (GS) and High School (HS) Faculty Presidents Ms. Ana Galido and Mrs. Sanshyne Mae Bela-ong, respectively, gave heartwarming messages on behalf of their fellow teachers.

Nearing the conclusion of the program, the Grade School Student Council (GSSC), High School Student Council (HSSC), Grade School (GS) and High School (HS) Faculty, Parent Representatives and the collective Student Body took part in the heart of the occasion — the gift-giving ceremony.

Following the heartfelt ceremony, Sr. Ezechiel (Zikie) Fernandez OSB returned all the love she received in a short and sweet message to both the Student Body and Faculty at the closing moments of the celebration dedicated to her continuous loyalty and faith to the service of the Scholastican Body.

BALITA - Ipinagdiriwang ng St. Scholastica’s Academy-Bacolod ang Kulminasyon ng Buwan ng Wika ngayong araw, ika-30 ng Agosto, sa gymansium ng paaralan, na may temang "Filipino, Wikang Magpapalaya Katuwang ng Agham sa Pagsasabuhay ng Pamanang Edukasyong Benediktino." Nilalayon nitong paigtingin ang pagmamahal sa Wikang Filipino at Kulturang Pilipino sa gitna ng makaagham na pagbabago sa lipunan habang isinasabuhay ang kaugaliang Benediktino.

Ipinamalas ng bawat Iskolastikan ang kanilang angking husay at talento sa iba't ibang pagtatanghal tulad ng Vocal Solo at Vocal Duet, Spoken Word Poetry, Pilipino Pop Dance, Creative Native Folkdance, at Your Face Sounds Familiar.

"There is no greater nation on earth than our Motherland." - Ninoy Aquino, 1973.

Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr. (1932-1983) was a prominent Filipino politician and opposition leader against the dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos. A former governor and senator and was known for his outspoken advocacy for democracy and human rights. He was imprisoned, exiled and assasined. His death was the forefront of the Philippine revolution against Marcos, leading to the People Power Revolution and the restoration of democratic governance in the country.

Today we honor Ninoy Aquino with a nod to his legacy: a man who showed us that 'Giving up' was never an option. His courage and vision remain a beacon of hope and resilience. As Scholasticans, let us continue to be inspired by his unwavering commitment to justice and democracy. 🇵🇭🌟

OUTREACH— The High School Student Council (HSSC) and the High School Student Senate (HSSS) in collaboration with the Technology and Livelihood Development Center (TLDC) of the Province of Negros Occidental conducted an outreach program for the ATA Tribe at Polopangyan Elementary School in Brgy Bug-ang, Municipality of Toboso today, August 17.

The recipients received various donations such as canned goods, clothes, and school supplies. Moreover, books donated by the students were turned over to the elementary school for their educational needs.

Furthermore, the teachers, Ms. Christine Martinez and Ms. Rogelin Lebumfasil expressed their concerns over the lack of facilities and educational materials for their school.

Mrs. Libay Alarcon, head of the TLDC, said that “These events serve as a big opportunity for leaders to share [their] blessings as well as it is a calling and opportunity to realize that this would not be possible without the people who are in need of assistance from us.”

NEWS— The Leadership Training of Grades 10-12 was held today, August 10, with the theme, “R.E.A.L Next Generation: S.E.L Power up for Scholastican Leaders.” The event was conducted at the SSA-B Gym, organized by Ms. Loren Marquez and Mr. Thomas Javellana of the Guidance Center, with the assistance of 5 new interns.

Sir Tom, the keynote speaker for the training, opened his talk with the theme, “Social Emotional Leadership: A Game Changer” where he discussed with the leaders topics such as social awareness, relationship skills, responsible decision-making, self-management, and more.

During the event, the leaders were given insights on their various responsibilities as role models, as well as various group activities that challenged the abilities of the Scholastican leaders.

NEWS — Today, August 9, the induction of class, club, and High School Student Council (HSSC) officers, along with The Dove editorial board members, was held in the Maryville Hall.

From 8:00 to 10:00 a.m., students gathered to witness the event and show their support. CSA Mrs Mary Grace Javillo announced the names of the esteemed officers while The Dove moderator, Mrs Clarice Guanco called the names of this school year's editorial board, inviting them onstage to take their pledges as leaders of the SSA-B High School Department.

Congratulations to all the newly inducted class and club officers, as well as HSSC members and The Dove editorial board!

NEWS — For the first time in SSA-B's history, Clyrre Nagales, Leigh Empleo, Matthew Giganto, Aliesha Plantinos, Chantel Robles, and Angela Ruiz of 12 St. Catherine placed third in the 18th BIOTA - Western Visayas Regional Student Research Competition, making a lasting impact by instilling a legacy in the school, proving that Scholasticans can excel in the field of research and experimentation.

The competition was held on May 11, 2024, and the announcement of results was made online via a Facebook post on the official BIOTA - Western Visayas Chapter FB page on May 13, 2024.

Today, May 17, 2024, their President, La Vera U. Sombito, took the time to personally congratulate the students and researchers for their outstanding achievement in the competition, proving that it is indeed a noteworthy feat.

The group's paper is entitled "BIOPLASTIC FILM: AN ALTERNATIVE SOLUTION WITH COCONUT FLOUR," where they pioneered a study that focused on analyzing whether or not coconut flour can be a viable additive to enhance a conventional bioplastic film solution.

Congratulations to our inspiring researchers! May their success drive students to strive for excellence in their future research endeavors.

Heartwarming and exceeding expectations best describe Ulap, Bahaghari, at Bituin, a musical play created by the Grade 12 HUMSS students in collaboration with the school's very own theatre club, Teatro Iskolastika and dance club, La Figura. The Maryville Hall was flooded with students who eagerly watched the much anticipated play.

When the lights dimmed, and the chatter died down, the show opened with a song and dance segment to the tune of "Alapaap" by the Eraserheads.

Congratulations to the production team led by their remarkable directors, Nel Simon Lapore and Adia Beatrice Manzo of Grade 12 St. Walburga.

We hope to see more creative projects like this in the future! That in all things, God may be Glorified!

OUTREACH NEWS – St. Scholastica’s Academy - Bacolod hosted its second Scholastican Involvement and Community Outreach Program (SICOP) event for the school year 2023–2024 today, April 21, 2024.

The school gym was once again transformed into a haven of hope, as dedicated volunteers united for a cause. Under the banner of service, this annual medical mission offered the following services to the beneficiaries:
Pediatric and Adult Consultations
Dental Tooth Extractions
Random Blood Sugar Testing
Eye Check-ups
Circumcision
Blood-letting Activity

With the collective efforts of the PTA, HS and GS Faculty, Non-Teaching Personnel, Scholastican student volunteers including the Red Cross Youth and the High School Student Council, parent volunteers, and our committed medical professionals, we aspire to have provided comfort to those in need.

Gratitude is extended to everyone involved in coordinating this event, showcasing the spirit of compassion and unity within our Benedictine community.

That in all things, God may be glorified 🕊

NEWS — In collaboration with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the SSA-B High School Department conducted a fire drill on this day, March 26, 2024, at the SFCC in the High School Department.

At 10:30 a.m., the high school student body was evacuated to the SFCC, the procedure timed accordingly by the BFP officers present.

After the drill ended, the students returned to their classrooms as the representatives of the Bureau met with the assigned emergency response team.

It does not fit in one box and it may appear in different forms due to its complexity. INTRAMURALS '24 - This season of Intramurals 2024 culminated with the grand finale of awards on the afternoon of February 8 at the SSA-B Gym.

Senior High represented as Silver Paragons emerged victorious, claiming honors for Best in Concept, Most Disciplined, and Overall Champions in Sports. In the ranks of Best in Cheerdance, the Senior High Silver Paragons secured their 1st place spot while the Grade 7 Evergreen Archers claimed the 1st runner-up, and Grade 10 Azure Olympians bagged the 2nd runner-up title. The Azure Olympians also captured the coveted Batch Spirit Award. This has sparked joy and celebration among many batches during this season.

Despite the blood, sweat, and tears that have marked this event, the collective effort of many Scholasticans has truly made it worthwhile. As we wrap up this memorable Intramurals, may every student look forward to the promise of the next school year!

As we close an important chapter in our lives, the precious memories shared throughout intensive planning and restless practicing leave a mark in our hearts. Undoubtedly, each Scholastican's blood, sweat, and tears paid off as we rejoice in the sheer pride and passion such experience earned us—no matter the gold, silver, or bronze.

Moving past our sentimental feelings over these last three days, we also wave goodbye to the scorching weather we willfully avoid almost by instinct. Despite blinding views of campus fields and humid air, they make this event all the more rewarding. With the finale that took place, may everyone have a good rest, as deservedly so.

And most especially, winning smiles from the winners today were seen and chants echoed beyond the school’s walls.
