𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐚 𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧?

I learned from my old boss that I can't just make a decision out of a good idea. It needs to be validated by data to see the relevance of the suggested action we are to take.

That teaching led me to see data as more than numbers, but how they genuinely manifest a trend, behaviour, culture, strength, the overall DNA of a business.

Hence, through these data, we can indeed find what the real problem is.

I often experience this in the course of my marketing career. A client would express that they are not getting much engagement on social media. Despite that their content is well designed and well informative, they too are in serious confusion as to why they're not getting any traction. After gathering all the possible data I could, the real problem lies not in the structure but in the context of their content -- it doesn't actually reflect their shared value with their target audience. So instead of offering them a content writing service, I would focus first on improving the clarity of their messaging. Cause once the messaging has been fixed, it'll be easier to create targeted content.

Should I not use a systematic way of auditing their business, I would have offered them the wrong service, and that still wouldn't be able to resolve their problem.

The classic phrase from Psych 101 classes is that neurons that "fire together, wire together." Meaning the more we repeat a particular action or thought, the stronger those neural connections are, and the easier the action becomes. ​

Perhaps, this could be the reason why one of the marketing principles we know today tells us that before a customer would buy from us is they have to see us at least seven times.​
​
But I want to elaborate this further because it is prevalent that many think they have to be everywhere to capture their target audience.​
​
But honestly, no. You can be on one platform and still experience business growth. The key is to strengthen the connectivity of your brand to the minds of your audience. How do we do that? By helping them take action. ​
In my years of working in digital marketing, I have recognized that there's a 60% chance a fully-engaged audience will buy from your business. ​
​
So does this mean that we can throw a random call to action?​
​
Another nope!​
​
You have to be strategic when deciding what call to action you should use. ​
​
If you are in the awareness stage, perhaps a call to action that leads your audience to share their response on a specific question will do, or like your page.​
​
In the consideration step, you may ask them to join your email list or attend your upcoming Facebook live.​
​
If you are at the decision or action stage, ask them to check out your landing page. ​
​
The more relevant action your audience will take from you or your brand, the better you can earn their trust and, later on, their business with you.​
​

Stop writing content! 🤭​
​
Let's be real, social media or the whole world wide web is a huge dumpster of content. We thought that we "just have to write content" so that we can win a slot in the social media algorithm or on search engines.​
​
But no! ​
​
If your mind is only just aiming for "just a content" then congratulations for being one of those people that adds more distraction to the overall online user experience.​
​
This is just an opinion, but perhaps this is one of the pressing reason why many television viewers opted for online streaming media because the ads (content) on the television just really takes up most of their experience.​
​
And fast forward today, now that social media has been one of the strongest machinery of many brands in terms of making awareness and driving revenue to the business, we are starting to go back to the cycle of destroying one experience in their "me-time" by creating unrelatable and narcissistic content.​
​
So how should we approach our content writing then?​
​
✅ Create content with the intent of adding value.​
​
People nowadays want to see results and wants to taste immediate solutions that would ease them in their concerns. ​-- The reason behind that it is ideal to write headlines that talk about the "W's and H's" questions. Online users tend to search long-tail keywords on Google because of the desperation of resolving a problem or a mystery they have in themselves.​
​
So whether you are a B2B or a B2C, speak like a human! ​
Aim at adding value to your target market.​
​
✅ Speak the language they use.​
​
It has been a great mistake by many creators and brands to focus on promoting the most complicated features and processes of their products or services in their content. ​
​
Though, yeah it sends out how innovative you are or how smart you are as a company, but what's in it for your customers?​
​
Speak the language they use! Describe the benefits your customer will get to experience from you. Only then that they can picture themselves using your products or services. ​
​
That's the goal--make them imagine how great it would be in their life once they use your products and services.​
​
Because let's be real, even yourself, before you purchase something from a store, you have told yourself a thousand times a story that will convince you on buying. So let's not make things complicated, just reflect that story to your content and your customers will surely love you!​

Each platform has a different way to better generate engagement. For example, on Facebook, we can share inspiring and valuable content on other groups, while on Instagram creating visually attractive content is a must and use of hashtags. ​

It is truly obvious that even when you do business online there is still a lot of work to do. But through careful planning, research, strategizing, and ex*****on you can ensure that your business can succeed online. ​

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐲 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠.​

Serving in the church is one of the things that I can say is one of the most rewarding experiences that I had experienced for the 23 years of my existence. 2 years of my life have been devoted fully to one specific purpose. ​
​
To invite people to come unto Christ. ​
​
But little did everyone know that our job as a missionary is not just knocking on doors, walking on long highways, talking to strangers, and invite them to hear our message. ​
​
It goes way beyond that.​
​
As a freelancer, though we are working virtually, we don't get to knock on doors, we don't have to walk on long highways, but we always try to reach out to our target market, who is literally stranger to us and us to them. ​
​
𝐒𝐨 𝐥𝐞𝐭 𝐦𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐧 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐦𝐲 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐲 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭:​

1. 𝑺𝒆𝒕 𝒈𝒐𝒂𝒍𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒔. ​
​
For anyone who had volunteered to serve in the church for 2 years, everyone will agree that not a day in that 2-year mission that we were encouraged to set goals and make plans. ​
​
We have monthly, weekly, and daily planning to really help us set goals and make plans on how we are going to achieve those goals on a daily basis. ​
​
Through our daily planning, our goals really stuck to us and help our system move towards it. ​
​
2. 𝑳𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒏 𝑨𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒍𝒚. ​
​
As a missionary, even though we already have a message to share, we understood that it is important to deliver the message in a very personal level to make it more impactful to that one person who will listen. ​
​
What we do is we simply ask people questions, listen carefully to the words they are saying, and through that, we can identify if what we had prepared is something that may help them or not, and because of listening, we are able to right away know how we are going to deliver the message to them. ​
​
The same goes in freelancing, everyone already has a service to share. But to make it more valuable to your target market we must listen to them with the intention only to understand their needs before the intention of selling our service to them. ​
​
Through listening, we can see if our service is something that could help them the most or there's more :] Like email marketing, web revamp, SEO, and SMM :] ​
​
3. 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒖𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒚. ​
​
Even though we were 18 years old at that time, we didn't let our age stop us from serving our mission, teaching people of any age, young and old, professional or not, with a degree or without. ​
​
But because we understand that we were commissioned by the head of the Church, we never let our age become greater than our message. ​
​
People can feel when you are doubting. ​
​
People can read the words between your lines. ​
​
𝐵𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑓𝑖𝑑𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑒𝑥𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑡 𝑠𝑜 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑝𝑒𝑜𝑝𝑙𝑒 𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝑙𝑎𝑦 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑖𝑟 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑓𝑖𝑑𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒 𝑖𝑛 𝑦𝑜𝑢. ​

As a freelancer we are to supposed to be experts in our field. Whether you are new or tenure in freelancing it is a must that you build that confidence in yourself. ​
​
Client's would entrust their business to our skills and wards. So ask yourself 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑓𝑖𝑑𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑟𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡 𝑛𝑜𝑤 𝑡𝑜 ℎ𝑒𝑙𝑝 𝑏𝑢𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑒𝑠𝑠 𝑜𝑤𝑛𝑒𝑟𝑠 𝑎𝑐ℎ𝑖𝑒𝑣𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑖𝑟 𝑔𝑜𝑎𝑙𝑠?​

If you haven't done anything above that I mentioned that's alright. ​
​
Even in the mission field, there are days where we lapsed on doing the most important things, but it didn't stop us to continue. We learn and we press forward. ​
​
But out of all those three that I have mentioned above?​
​
Do you want to know what really personally helped me do all those things?​
​
It is because 𝐈 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐲 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐬. ​

Every day I make sure that I am reminded of the reason why I am doing what I am doing. ​
​
So when the negativity arises, I can pull some strengths and press forward. ​
​
Freelancing isn't all sunshine and rays. ​
​
Before we get to experience the freedom of time, unlimited income, and extensive growth. ​
​
We must do smart moves to achieve it. ​
​

𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟏-𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐢𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠! 🤩🤩🤩​
​
Would you believe that it’s been a year already since I have made my decision on becoming a freelancer?​
​
Already worked with 7 clients in total, handled 12 social media accounts, created 3 websites and I have been involved in 2 businesses and I must say I am still growing. ​
​
It wasn’t really easy at the very beginning of my freelancing journey.​
​
I don’t have any money. ​
I have tons of bills to pay. ​
I don’t have a strong device to really do the work faster.​
​
And it took me a while to actually get my very first client. ​
​
But one thing I am grateful for is that my old Macbook really helped me get through those challenges that I had. ​
​
With my old MacBook that only had 2GB of RAM and an i2 core processor. . . ​
​
I was able to create 3 websites, code a bit. [though sometimes my device crashes haha] ​
​
Created almost hundreds of graphics and a handful of videos just with my laptop and iPhone 6 plus. ​
​
I am sharing this story because I know there’s a lot of aspiring freelancers out there who really wanted to start freelancing but are being held back because they don’t have any device that they can use. ​
​
No laptop.​
No computer.​
Not even a high-functioning smartphone that they can use. ​
​
I know I am still blessed to even have this one. But do you want to know who inspired me to just do it?​
​
It was my coach Julmar Grace Locsin who shared that when they were starting to do freelancing, with her husband, they would just go to a computer shop and do the work there despite the noises from other users in the shop, they were able to grow, and now has a global company. ​
​
I told myself, “If they can do it with just limited resources. I know I can too.”​
​
My Macbook is still with me, giving me the help that I need, but of course, I was already able to upgrade some parts, thankfully. ​
​
If not having the resources is stopping you from taking the leap. ​
​
Now is the time to reconsider. ​
​
There’s a lot of ways that you do so that you can start on this journey. ​
​
Let that fire within you work its way through in helping you find that way for you to start. ​
​

Have you ever recognized how crazy it is that when you searched for the word laptop on Facebook the very next thing you will be seeing are ads all about laptops? ​
​
Crazy isn’t it?​
​
But that’s one of the great reasons why Facebook is one of the best advertising platforms in the digital world. ​
​
It detects users' patterns of searches and activities on the app giving them the best content that is related to what they are most interested in at a certain point, giving them the full power of buying decisions.​
​
This feature on Facebook as well we’re able to help a lot of small enterprises to really scale their business through advertising and ensuring that their ads are seen by the right people. ​
​
But recently, ​
​
Apple released a test of its new IDFA protocol that enables users to opt-out or opt-in to share their data to companies who own the app that they are using. ​
​
Due to this massive decision Apple is making, a lot of advertising platforms will be affected. ​
​
Especially Facebook and Instagram who are at the top tier when sharing valuable ads to its platform users.​
​
But what does it really mean to us as users?​
​
Though you may be thinking it is for the best. We can truly keep our life private or our online activities.​
​
But is it really the best?​
​
Imagine these social media platforms, like a mall. ​
​
You come to the mall to entertain yourself.​
​
To buy things that you want. ​
​
But tell me if I am wrong. ​
​
You are most likely the type of person who doesn’t just settle on one option. ​
​
Once you find the item that you like to purchase you still go to different stores checking out for better offers. ​
​
And then once you find the best quality with the best offer, you then go and buy that item. ​
​
Social media works like that, it helps users find the best offers you can find by showing you content and ads of different companies that it sees match your searches. ​
​
More options, less regret in the future when you have already purchased a certain product.​
​
So, we can say that data tracking has a good benefit after all. ​

𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐈 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐟𝐭. 𝐈 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭. ​
​
It's almost 2 years ago when I decided to finally go back to Pampanga, live on my own, try to get a new job sa isang call center. . . tipong reset, start from scratch nalang muna. ​
​
Restart sa mga pangit na nangyare.​
​
Restart at the stress.​
​
Restart sa lungkot. ​
​
Restart to find myself again. ​
​
Tipong when I was in Olongapo, I thought I was already at the peak of my career, nasa banko, got promoted as Executive Assistant to the President. Naging Department Manager and handles my own team. I have regular meetings with different business owners para mag close ng mga projects. Travel abroad all-expense paid by the company... Higit sa lahat, almost, a scholarship to study sa HKU ng Global Business Management. ​
​
Almost dream come true 2017-2018 para saken. ​
​
Pero things happen. ​
​
Na chismis dito. ​
​
Inggit dito. ​
​
Ako naman defense mode nalang, sometimes hinayaan ko nalang until I got burned out and already in need to get my life back again. ​
​
Aanihin mo yung ganun status sa buhay, pag toxic na lahat ng nangyayare sa paligid mo diba?​
​
So I quit. ​
​
Move and apply sa Pampanga, balik muna sa call center ulit. Where I started before.​
​
Di nag tagal I landed a job offer. Pioneering account. ​
​
Para sa mga taong nabuhay sa call center, you know what it means. ​
Possibility of promotion. ​
​
Tinangghihan ko yung malakeng offer sa kabilang company with big hopes dito sa pioneering account. Kahit maliit, I told myself, "I know I can make it here." Besides magada yung culture. ​
​
Pero guys take note din, currently doing my studies during this time. ​
​
Natapos ang training, after few weeks, I got promoted na! [YESSSSS] IT IS OFFICIAL PART NA AKO NG SUPPORT TEAM. ​
​
I thought this is it. ​
​
Tuwang tuwa ako sa nangyayare saken, madameng success. I have once again handled people, coach people, and help them get to where they want to be in the company.​
​
Pero dahil sa doble doble responsibilities ko, at napabayaan ko ng sobra yung sarili ko. ​
​
Di ko na manage ng maayos both studies and work. ​
​
I let go yung studies ko, ​
​
pero dahil sa pang gabe na din ako, may mga problema sa bahay, ​
​
di na ako nakapag function ng maayos. ​
​
I started to fail and fail and fail. ​
​
It was honestly depressing. ​
​
I felt the same feelings nung nasa Olongapo ako, this time. The blame is on me. ​
​
Nag try pa ulit ako sa BPO. ​
​
Pero di ko na kinaya yung stress ng calls​
​
Di ko na kinaya yung oras ng work. ​
​
Nahirapan na ako ng sobra sa bills ko din. ​
​
At sabe ko nalang: I'm going to quit yung BPO. ​
​
I was already at the point of nowhere ulit. Until I realized, I can still go up. Kailangan ko lang ng tamagang mindset. ​
​
duon na ako nag simula mapunta sa larangan ng freelancing. ​
​
Imagine, freedom of time (di ko na kailangan mag work sa gabe), unlimited income (kahit gano pa kadameng client pwede mo kunin kasi ikaw naman mag manage ng tasks mo), ang daming opportunity to create a business. ​
​
Nag decide kame ng girlfriend ko na it is time to venture this field. ​
​
and lo and behold. ​
​
It was the best decision that we did last year. ​
​
Sumabay sa pandemic, na mahirap mag ka work at kumita ng pera. ​
Pero dahil sa decision namen na mag freelancer. ​
​
di namen pinroblema yung income namen. ​
​
oras sa work, bye-bye graveyard na din. ​
​
sa umpisa mahirap mag freelance, like saan kukunin yung client. ​
​
tsaka pano mo ipapakita na kaya mo talaga eh wala ka pang experience. ​
​
Pero having a great support from my girlfriend really helped me accomplish so many stuffs in freelancing. ​
​
I was able to create an impression already in the marketplace that made my target market shoot me a message instead of me applying. ​
​

Because of freelancing, I experience more, I find life that I have been wanting, I found the button that truly made my life switch. ​
