𝐏𝐁𝐁𝐌: 𝐆𝐨𝐯’𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐬 ‘𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐠’ 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. assured the public that the government is on top of the situation as Tropical Storm Enteng brings flooding and strong winds, leading to the suspension of work and classes in some parts of the country.

In a media interview, President Marcos stated that all concerned government agencies are closely monitoring the movement of Tropical Storm Enteng, while affected local government units (LGUs) are making decisions for their respective areas of responsibility.

President Marcos also emphasized that the government is keeping a close watch on areas expected to experience heavy rains and strong winds until Tuesday.

“So, we are watching it. Ang tinitingnan lang natin sa eskwela, siyempre iba. The LGUs also make – iba-iba — the LGUs make their own decision with that except if there is a region-wide assessment na hindi pwedeng pumasok,” President Marcos said.

“Sa trabaho naman, ang tinitingnan lang namin ay kung makapunta ‘yung mga empleyado natin, makapasok, at makauwi. Importante makauwi kasi ‘pag mahirap ‘pag ma-stranded sila doon sa kanilang pinag-tatrabahuhan. So, that’s what we are watching now,” he added.

The President made these remarks in response to questions about the government’s preparations during the opening of the 2024 National Peace Consciousness Month and the Commemoration of the 28th Anniversary of the 1996 Final Peace Agreement with the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) in Malacañan.

President Marcos mentioned that the government is also prepared for the aftermath, noting that “all necessary elements” are already in place to support those who will be affected.

“As usual, nag-forward placement na tayo ng mga pangangailangan. We will just have to wait for the weather to see what it will do. Hopefully, umiwas sa atin. But even if it does not, we have all the elements in place to support our people na magiging – mahihirapan dahil nga dito sa naging Bagyong Enteng,” the President said.

“So, we are just watching it and we are trying to adjust,” he added.

President Marcos also noted that the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) is closely monitoring the weather conditions, with concerned government agencies providing regular updates. | PND

Hindi natin alam kung ano ang magyayari sa hinaharap, ngunit maaari tayong gumawa ng mga hakbang upang maibsan ang kawalan ng katiyakan. Kailangan natin ang social security sa gayon sa oras ng kamatayan, kapansanan, pagkakasakit, maternity at katandaan ay may mahuhugot para sa ganitong gastusin.
