𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐒𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐂 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐎𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐕𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦

WPU Main Campus – The Commission on Student Elections (COMSELEC) conducted online voting for the Supreme Student Council (SSC) and Student Organization officers’ election due to conflicting event timings on September 4, 2024.

The official page of WPU COMSELEC posted an official announcement of the 2024 election operated through online voting with voting links attached on September 4, 2024. Meanwhile, the voting started at 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and was extended until 9:00 p.m., the COMSELEC staff began the counting at 9:30 p.m. due to the unstable internet connection, which caused delays in loading ballots from each college.

The team overseeing the votes led by COMSELEC Chairperson Princess Omayao prepared a list of university students' information to check possible cases of multiple voting and manually recorded the number of votes for transparency and authenticity.

In a short interview after the counting, Ms. Omayao said, "Kaya siya naging online is because of the schedule dahil sumabay siya sa intrams mas naging convenient ang online. Ang pinakaproblema from the start is 'yong mga tatakbo for a position kasi konti lang talaga kaya nag-change ng schedule at nag-extend. Pinakahuling problemang na-encounter namin ay 'yong target percentage na 50% + 1 na hindi na-meet ng ilang mga colleges kaya nag-extend and na-close namin ang voting past 9 p.m."

On the other hand, the results of the election and declaration of the new set of officers of the Supreme Student Council (SSC) and each college student organization will be posted on September 6, 2024, on the WPU COMSELEC Main Campus official page, to be followed by an oathtaking by the new set of officers on dates to be announced.

Meanwhile, CEd Warriors reign victorious in Badminton Championship game Single B Men's Category with the final score of 21-15, 21-11 against CET Conquerors at the WPU Gymnasium.

Congratulations to the newly Registered Criminologists!

Congratulations to the passers of the July 2024 Licensure Examination for Criminologists!

The Western Philippines University has produced 115 newly licensed criminologists, with an aggregated rating of 62.94% for first-time takers coming from both WPU-Aborlan and WPU-Puerto Princesa. The university has an overall rating of 54.52% with 49.34% as the national passing rate.

We extend our appreciation to the College of Criminal Justice Education dean, faculty, staff, and its competent students for a job well done.

Ninoy Aquino Day | August 21, 2024

"The Filipino is worth dying for."

August 21 is observed annually to honor former Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino, Jr. It is the death anniversary of the former senator whose sacrifice inspired the fight for freedom and democracy in our beloved country.

May today serve as a reminder of the value of our rights and the need to honor the Filipino heroes who fought for our independence.

However this year, President Marcos signed a decree that moved Ninoy Aquino Day to Friday, August 23, "to provide for a longer weekend, thereby promoting domestic tourism."

Despite our best legal and administrative efforts, the page remains active, currently displaying inappropriate content. Additionally, as of August 17, both the WPU Student Affairs and Services and the Drug Resistance Education and Advocacy Movement (DREAM) pages have also been hacked.

Tunay nga na ang wika ay ating búhay at ito ay nananatiling buháy, kaya sa gitna ng pag-usbong ng mga makabagong teknolohiya, kasabay ng unti-unting pag-unlad ng bansang Pilipinas, na kung saan nangagsulputan yaong mga wikang balbal, jejemon, at marami pang iba, huwag sanang mawaglit sa isip at puso natin ang wikang ipinaglaban ni Quezon, ang wikang Filipino.

Bukod kasi sa makukulay nating kultura at tradisyon, ito ay isa rin sa pagkakakilanlan natin bilang isang Pilipino, kaya dapat nating pahalagahan, gamitin at ipagmalaki. Ito ang yardo upang tayo ay magkaintindihan at daan upang makamit ang ganap na kapayapaan.

A: Bago ang lahat, kailangan ay enrolled ka sa WPU Main Campus dahil ang WPU Collegian Student Organization ay ang opisyal na student publication ng MAIN CAMPUS.

Para mapabilang sa Collegian, mayroon po tayong ISO procedure sa recruitment process:

1) Take the qualifying exam.
Part 1: Objective Exam
Part 2: Subjective Exam/Position-specific exam

2) Interview with Editor(s)/Editor-in-chief and Publication Adviser.

3) Pass the overall evaluation result.

For simplicity:
Punta ka lang sa Collegian Office, sa may gilid mismo ng SAS building, hanapin ang mga magaganda't poging journalist ng Collegian, at kami na ang bahala sa iyo. 😉

Heads up, KULETS! The WPU Collegian will be extending its recruitment drive until August 21, 2024, at 5:30 p.m.

Interested applicants may take the qualifying exam on Monday at any time until the date indicated. The exam will be taken in our office, located at the WPU SAS Building.

Applicants must be BONA FIDE students of Western Philippines University-Main Campus only.
