PAGA HILL DEVELOPMENT COMPANY (PHDC) TO HOST FIRST CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL.

PAGA Hill Development Company will be hosting a first of its kind "Christmas Festival" at the Sir John Guise Stadium on Saturday 21st of December.

The festival aims to make this Christmas more memorable for the people of Port Moresby and bring them together as community to celebrate the spirit of Christmas.

The Christmas festival sponsored by No.1 Lotto, will feature big name local artists in the likes of 1997 ARIA Award winner, George Telek, Unlove Singer Sai Kay, Mama Masalai Mereani Masani, Maria Hitmaker, Ragga Siai, rising stars form New Ireland, Jayrex Suisui and Tonton Malele, including, Dejays, Dawgside, Tau Sisters and DJ SHLD.

In an exclusive interview with media held last week, the Managing Director for PHDC, Gudmundur Fridriksson said the PHDC is all about transforming the face of the city and this Christmas, they want to bring an extra β€œfun” to the people of Port Moresby, by hosting a very first concert.

He adds that the ultimate goal of the festival is for the people attending the concert to have fun but PHDC is also committed to the safety of people and plan to have police presence as well, ensuring that the festival is safe, fun and successful.

There will also be food and beverage stalls, dance performances, Christmas carols, kids’ entertainment and bouncy castle, all capped off with a fireworks display.

The festival will start at 4pm and end at 10pm however the gates will open at 2pm.

Tickets for the festival are going for K30 and will be available starting today at the CPL, Vision City and Waigani Central. Follow the No. 1 page for more updates on this fun filled festival.

"FRIENDS OF MADANG PROVINCIAL HOSPITAL" DONATES TO PEDIATRIC WARD.

Friends of the Madang Provincial Hospital have donated essential medical equipment to the pediatric ward, including IV drip stands, thermometers, glucometers, and supplies to restore the use of a cardiac monitor.

The group also pledged to provide an infusion pump soon.

FOTMPH co-founder Pamela Eugenio said the group remains committed to assisting hospital staff and improving patient care.

Head of the Pediatric Ward, Dr. Tina Yarong, thanked the association for addressing critical gaps, saying the donation would enhance care for young patients.

Acting Executive Hospital Manager Jeremiah Johnmark acknowledged the group’s continued support, noting that such partnerships help overcome challenges in acquiring vital equipment.

Funds for the donation were raised during a 2023 campaign, including a Mt. Wilhelm climb that collected K25,000 with support from local businesses.

CENTRAL LASS SECOND BIG WIN OF K25,00 FROM 321 LOTTO.

VAI Geno’s second attempt at the 321 lotto scratch card hits the big time jackpot of K25,000 when she purchased the winning scratch card at the Fonehaus 321 Lotto outlet at the Rangeview plaza last Saturday.

Vai who is from Aroma, Central Province shared that this is her second big win with the Lottery, having won K2,000 from her previous purchases of the 321 Lotto scratch and win cards.

She said on Saturday, she has a lucky feeling and went to the 321 Lotto outlet at Fonehaus in Rangeview Plaza, she purchased 17 scratch cards, amongst the 17 was the lucky card of K25,000 jackpot.

Vai remarked, β€œI believe the lotto is real, I just spent K3 and I got a lot from that K3”.

Vai adds that she is very excited, and she will now use the money to fulfil her promise to her parents and build their family house in Central Province.

She has also tried 321 lotto’s online games but she prefers the scratch cards as they are simple and straightforward, scratch and win cards.

Fonehaus Supervisor Rudolf Marabi adds that since Fonehaus has come on board for the 321 lotto scratch card sales, they have been getting many customers and Vai is one of them and its really boosting the sales of the 321 lotto tickets.

PNG TO CONTINUE TO UPHOLD AVIATION SAFETY

THE Minister for Civil Aviation and Transport, Walter Schnaubelt while speaking at the International Aviation Safety Week, reaffirmed the country’s stance to uphold aviation safety and security standards set out by the International Civil Aviation Organization [ICAO].

He said Papua New Guinea recognizes the importance of having in place a robust safety and security system in aviation adding that effective & efficient aviation safety & security are key enablers for safe and secure aviation systems.

Schnaubelt said the Government supports the industry, which is significantly important for social and economic development of any nation through people-to-people connectivity.

Papua New Guinea is home to 22 airports, including three international airports.

The minister said among these, PNG currently said they have eight security-designated aerodromes, and as a member of the international community and signatory to the Chicago Convention, Papua New Guinea is committed to maintaining compliance with international obligations set forth by the International Civil Aviation Organization, ICAO.

The country’s regulatory framework is designed not only to meet these obligations, but also to exceed them wherever possible according to the Minister.

He said the state is now preparing for the Universal Security Audit Program Continuous Monitoring Approach, UCEP-CMA, scheduled for the second half of 2025.

This will assist PNG in improving its security oversight.

NFA PRESENTS OVER K400 MILLION CONSOLIDATE REVENUE TO GOVERNMENT.

National Fisheries Authority today presented over K400 million as consolidate revenue contributions to Prime Minister James Marape and Treasurer Ian Ling Stuckey at APEC House.

This contribution component is under the Non-Tax Revenue Act.

Fisheries Minister Jelta Wong together with the NFA Board and Management representatives were present to hand over the presentation to the Prime Minister and the Treasurer Ian Ling Stuckey.

NFA Managing Directo MR Justin Ilakini says NFA’s contributions constitute to 54 percent of total NTRA contribution to the Government and he is proud of the Board, Management and staff for their efforts in this contribution.

He says last year NFA contributed K203 million and this year over K208 million bring the total contributions to over K400 million in the last 24 months.

Prime Minister James Marape in his remarks says, he is looking forward to more greater outcomes from NFA and thanks the NFA board and Management for this remarkable out-come and contributions to support the government efforts in the delivery of services to the people as this will support in the budgetary commitments.

Treasurer Ian Ling expressed the same sentiments saying he was delighted to accept this wonderful gift Christmas Gift from the National Fisheries Authority, as a component of the Budget this year
whilst also urging other agencies to continue with their NTRA contribution.

OVER 10, 000 GRADE 12 SELECTED ONLINE

OVER 10,000 Grade 12 Students nationwide have been successfully selected on the Online Selection system.

Higher Education and Sports Minister Kinoka Feo officially inaugurated the Online Selection Sytem today at the DHERST Office in Waigani.

With this system inauguration, a total of 10, 199 school leavers have been selected out of 30, 0640 applicants and for non-school leavers a total of 1, 302 have been selected out of 2, 268 for Higher Education Institutions in PNG for 2025 admissions.

The Minister for Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology says, Grade 12 school leavers and Non-school leavers can now receive notifications on their National Online Application "My status" to confirm their selections to the Higher Education Institutions.

The Minister in his speech says, this inauguration of NOSS marks an historic milestone for the higher Education sector in PNG.

He says each year, the number of grade 12 population increase and so the competition to get selected by meeting institutional program quota is aligned with sectoral policies and academic parameters for assuring quality higher education.

He shared the key statistics for both school leavers and non-school leavers as follows;
β€’ Number of Grade 12 School Leaver Applicants: 30, 640
β€’ Number of Non-School Leaver Applicants: 2, 268
β€’ Total Secondary School with Nomination Lists: 235
β€’ Total Academic Programmes Available for 2025 Academic year: 314

The Minister also emphasized the importance of using the National Online Selection System to ensure a fair and transparent selection process for all applicants.

He says the transparent and efficient operation of this system is a testament to the diligent efforts of DHERST.

The selected students will now begin the process of enrolling in their chosen Higher Education Institutions for the 2025 academic year.

The Minister reiterated the government's commitment to providing quality education opportunities for all Papua New Guineans and congratulated the selected students on their achievements.

He expressed his gratitude to all involved in the selection process and wished the selected students’ success in their future.
