Heli Solutions Forced to Shut Down After Two Decades of Service


Heli Solutions, a proudly Papua New Guinean aviation compa, began its journey on August 13, 2011, when its first Bell 407 helicopter landed at Jacksons Airport. Founded by two young local pilots with a passion for flying, the company grew from a small rented office into a trusted service provider. For over 20 years, it operated with an impeccable safety record, earning the trust of clients across the country.

The company played a vital role in supporting remote communities by delivering medical supplies, food, and election materials like ballot boxes. It was a lifeline for those in areas where planes could not land, assisting pregnant mothers, sick individuals, schoolchildren, and countless others who relied on its services. Heli Solutions bridged the gap for Papua New Guinea’s most isolated regions, bringing hope and essential supplies to communities that otherwise had no access to help.

Unfortunately, due to inconsistent jet fuel supplies and foreign exchange issues, the company has been forced to shut down, leaving 65 hardworking staff without jobs. Local CEO Captain James Pima expressed his gratitude to the dedicated employees and acknowledged the impact of the closure on the remote communities they served. “We wish for the company to grow, but right now, the country is in a bad state,” he said.

The loss of Heli Solutions is not just a setback for the aviation industry but a devastating blow to the many lives it touched across Papua New Guinea.
