KCK RIGO RICE CUP SET TO KICK OFF IN NOVEMBER

The KCK Rigo Rice Cup will stage its inaugural edition starting this year on November.

This Rugby League Tournament aims to be the biggest grassroots tournament in Papua New Guinea with over K300,000 cash prizes to be won in its first edition this year.

Rigo Rice Cup is proudly sponsored by naming rights/platinum sponsors Rigo Rice Limited and Kendekali Lawyers. The tournament is open to other interested corporate sponsors and partners as well who are willing to come on board.

The host organising committees comprises of former PNG Kumul stars, who will be supervising the games in various pools with close collaboration with the tournament organisers.

CEO Of the KCK Rigo Rice Cup Limited Mr. McSteve Polly has announced that necessary office preparations are complete, and teams from all over Port Moresby are currently registering to participate in this tournament.

This tournament aims to work in alignment with the PNG NRL Bid, which focuses more on giving young aspiring talents in the country a chance to expose them on a big stage, while creating a contingent platform for rugby league’s development in the country.

The tournament also aims to be a medium of tourism promotion in Papua New Guinea, promoting and supporting the diverse culture of this great nation.

The Competition is set to kick off on November 09th right after registration closes, and the games will be held in five different venues throughout Port Moresby City.

 Moresby North West: Ipi Park, Hohola
 Moresby North East: Bomana Police College Field
 Moresby South: Bava Park
 Motu Koita: Kone Field

Twenty teams from all tertiary institutions in Port Moresby have been invited to participate in the tournament. The venue for the school teams is still being finalized, and the organizers will provide an update once it's confirmed.

The North West, North East, and Tertiary divisions will commence immediately after registration closes, followed by the Motu Koita and South Side divisions. This schedule will allow us ample time to complete all matches efficiently.

Grand finals will be held at the Sir. Hubert Murray Stadium and live-streamed on multiple social media platforms, through the tournament’s official media partner, Rebel Media Productions Limited.

The tournament encourages teams to field youth players between the ages of 16 and 23, as this will increase their chances of being scouted for opportunities abroad. To ensure a platform for emerging talents to shine, each team may include a maximum of three Digicel Cup players (former or current).

Approved for release,
Mcsteve Polly (CEO)

Owner of the famous 'Make Use Investment' in Mendi Mr. Solomon Timbol, popularly known in the province as 'Make Use Mangi' has passed away.

Mendi have few Entrepreneurs who built their wealth up from scratch, such as collecting and selling tin cans, buai smoke, agriculture and farming.

Without formal education, these guys made their way up from nothing by being committed to SAVE whatever little they make, which accumulated up to bigger fortunes and later they became leaders, employers and the main mechanism of monetary circulation in our local economy.

These local business man has been pillars of our local economy in Mendi Town for decades since they ventured into business and are popular all across the province. Most famously known are three guys in the likes of Garry Local Kulangil (Local Trading), Mark Tombos(Dust Mangi), Solomon Timbol (Make Use Mangi) and a few more to name.

The fall of Garry Kulangil was a huge loss in the business space of Mendi town, and now the sudden passing of late Solomon Timbol leaves a even bigger space to fill.

These guys are gone, but their legacies will always be retold for generations in Mendi town.

I convey my sincere condolences to immediate tribesmen, family members, and wife who was also my English Teacher in Mendi Secondary School Miss. Nicole Alkend, in this great time of sorrow and despair.

May God Grant you all peace of mind as we mourn the loss of a pillar and leader who left us into eternity.

Rest in Eternal Peace 'Make Use Mangi', your name lives forever in our small four kona town, Murumbu Oma.
