Ingredients:
• 1 tsp olive oil
• 1 onion, chopped
• 1 red bell pepper, chopped
• 1 tbsp minced garlic
• 1 cup lean ground beef (the leaner it is, the lower the calories)
• Season with 1/2 tsp salt and pepper, and 1 tsp paprika and chili powder
• 1 cup tomato sauce (or pizza/pasta sauce)
• 1 cup water or broth (this time I used beef broth for extra flavour and protein)
• 1 heaping cup dry macaroni (uncooked)
Optional: 1 cup spinach

Notes:
• you can substitute in any veggies of your choice. zucchini and corn also work great here.
• for topping ideas, you can use chili flakes and grates parmesan for an extra flavour kick. Otherwise, it’s great as is!
• If you use water instead of broth, you may need to add a bit more salt to taste! It’s all up to your preference.
• This recipe is great to make in bulk and serve for the entire week. Simply cook in a bigger pot if necessary.

Being South Asian, I would always hear about my “skinny fat” genetics growing up. I even became that in 2016. I didn’t have an athletic or genetically gifted family history that I know of to look up to. There were not many Indians or Pakistanis in the fitness space that I could even pull inspiration from.

I began focusing on what I can control. Training hard, eating right, and building healthy habits that can set me apart. My consistency slowly gave me results, and I began to unlock a physique that I didn’t know I was capable of.

Sometimes, I think about where I’d be if I didn’t start cooking for myself or step into my local community centre gym. It makes me even more grateful for the community that I now have. I feel a great sense of responsibility to help others for the rest of my life, and I wouldn’t want it any other way. ✌🏼❤️

Ingredients:
• 2 garlic cloves
• 1/2 cup fat free greek yogurt, plain
• 1/2 cup light mayo / miracle whip
• squeeze of 2 small limes
• 1 tbsp chili powder
• 1/4 cup any hot sauce (I used frank’s red hot)
• 1 tbsp honey (or any sweetener)
• 1/4 cup water (or more if needed for desired consistency)
• 1/4 cup finely chopped cilantro (added after blending)

Notes:
• for a serious kick of lime, zest your lime peels and add it to the sauce.
• store the sauce in your refrigerator for as long as the earliest expiry date amongst the ingredients in the sauce. In this case, it is usually the greek yogurt
• some of my favourite things to use this sauce on are burritos, bowls, sandwiches, tacos and quesadillas!
