New work alert! Created for the Institute of Directors to kick off their 2024 Leadership Conference, this ‘call to progress’, inspired by internet clickbait headlines, challenged attendees to make the decisions that will shape the future. The menu is out! Comedian Te Radar has challenged The Salty Pidgin to create the most delicious degustation, inspired by some of the New Zealand’s favourite vintage home cookbooks. Come discover the Prawn & Kiwifruit Cocktail and flaming kumara dessert, reimagined with modern taste in mind. Between courses Te Radar will bring his unique brand of comedy to entertain you with a series of mini lectures on kiwi cuisine accompanied by a slideshow of vintage food photography, so you can learn more about the distant heritage of the dishes you are eating.
Te Radar’s Crumbed Tongues and Tall Tales is part of Wellington On a Plate, 6.30pm to late @ The Salty Pidgin, May 17, 18, 19, 20. Tickets from https://www.iticket.co.nz/events/2023/may/vwoap-crumbed-tongues-tall-tales
P.S. There will be crumbed tongue canapes for the brave.
A Storybox Production.
Join Te Radar at The Salty Pidgin for an epic degustation inspired by some of New Zealand’s great home cooking heritage, but savagely reinterpreted for the refined palettes of today. While you feast, Te Radar will take you on a comic journey into New Zealand's food history alongside a showcase of vintage food photography from the sweet decades of yesteryear, when aspic was chic, vegetables were overboiled, and Alison Holst reigned supreme. Feast AND be entertained. What more could you want from a Wellington on a Plate experience? 6.30pm to late @ The Salty Pidgin, May 17, 18, 19, 20. Tickets from https://www.iticket.co.nz/events/2023/may/vwoap-crumbed-tongues-tall-tales

A collaboration between Storybox, Streamliner and HQ Productions for Xbox Australia & NZ, we were tasked with executing a high-concept launch for the Xbox Series X console in Queenstown while half the world was stuck in lockdown.
A little taster of our Inner Wilds project, an experience we created for the outside of the Wellington Opera House last year.
Happy Friday people! We've been busy working away at a few fun lil animations recently just for the sake of being creative! How good is this noodle boy? 🙇🍜

Taumata Arowai - Am I a Drinking Water Supplier?
Here's one from a video series we created for Taumata Arowai using some of the skills of our great in-house illustration and animation team. There was a lot of detail to get across and we needed to make something that was interesting and engaging, while also offering clear information.
Our team developed a simple visual style that could be used across all three videos as well as printed comms. We used our story telling skills to put together a script that would be engaging, but also informative.

'Calling Tangaroa’
Poetry written and performed by Lisa Leilani Williams
Text:
While our children have no idea your name birthed generations, crossed oceans...
I would smell you to me e Tangaroa e
In the same way newborns sniff for their mothers the instant they leave our bodies
"In the same way whales crossing oceans time their travel to the budding
wildflowers on distant shores"
"I would see you in the tiny curves of pupu (snail) shells e Tangaroa e golden
against the damp stones after a heavy rain…"
Now a four-bedroom beachfront property covers where the stones used to be.
Antonio says there is a clear moral and economic imperative
Antonio says We are in a climate emergency
When Antonio tells me It's a code red for humanity. I know.
Tena! There!
In the spaces between earth and sky
I know that people have become small Gods and create and destroy new life
Tangaroa e
The next stage of the creation
