Storybox

Storybox Kia ora, we're Storybox and we make moments. STORYTELLING IN A UNIVERSE OF OPPORTUNITY.

Storybox is an award winning and internationally recognised creative company that develops original projects for commercial clients, light and art festivals. For us form, function and creative integrity are at the heart of our process. We are constantly feeding both sides of our practice - artistic and design - to learn and enable the best out of each project. Our diverse creative background in t

he performing arts, installation, film and design means that we approach each project with a varied and fresh perspective in comparison to traditional design or advertising agencies. We are not bound by formats or mediums, instead the story and concept are at the heart of everything we do. We firmly believe in the power of a good story-concept that can then be applied to a range of different mediums to best suit the final outcome. What sets us apart from other creative companies is that we focus on finding the best story first then the medium, rather than the other way round. Our design approach is based on an interrogate and empathise model - we interrogate your communications problem and then develop an emphatic creative-solution to use as the guide for how to best apply the story-solution. The final output could be as diverse as building projection or series of pop-up monsters hidden in parks but whatever it is we focus on making sure that it all has a purpose and context for existing. Our team are experienced professionals take what they do seriously, but love doing it, so know how to have fun along the way. Meaning that engaging with you becomes a creative journey that ends up in making some great together.

We were devastated to hear that our collaborators on our Hua Parakore series - Papawhakaritorito Charitable Trust have suffered a devasting fire, destroying their seeds, their water, their teaching space and research base. We hope that Jessica's knowledge has inspired everyone who has been watching the series and helped create a deeper understanding about seed, soil and kai sovereignty. We're sharing the Trust's Givealittle page in case anyone wants to help Jessica and her whānau rebuild and continue their important work.

Lets come together as a community to nurture something bigger than ourselves. Every donation, big or small, will directly support recovery

Safe Night Beds is a unique pop-up experience for the annual Women's Refuge winter appeal. What looks like a real bed shop is actually a place to experience the world's most supportive beds, featuring real stories of resilience and bravery. We are really proud to have worked with the team at EightyOne to bring this smart idea to life.

The special pop-up bed shop: Safe Night Beds, is open Monday-Saturday 12-2 at 27 Brandon Street. Donate at www.safenight.nz

We were blown away when we saw this amazing collaboration finished - “They taking pictures of us in the water” was led by Auckland-based Anonymouz in the form of a call and response to Audrey Brown-Pereira’s poem in recognition of the power of music and the universal impact of Hip Hop, which in 2023 celebrates its’ 50th anniversary. This new version of “They taking pictures of us in the water” in the form of poetry, Hip Hop, dance and digital artistry is a creative collaboration of galaxies to connect people on a global level to the urgency of climate change. #1.5tostayalive!
