I was blessed to sit in for the Revulva recording session at the iconic Surgery Studio in Pōneke - these musicians are all equally amazing on stage and in the studio, and I can't wait to hear the final songs that come from this session 💸

Some of these shots are a bit sketchy, but I think the immense vibes still come through!

I got my Splendid Photo scans back! I took these shots for my faves Revulva when they played at Meow, and wowzers it was mean to see them live and shining again ✨

it's definitely pretty scary shooting a gig on film, and I respect the pros Vanessa Cone Creative and Kenzie Pigman even more after giving it a go!

Akash Dutta is a jazz pianist based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, and he has just finished recording his latest studio album of original music. We did this photoshoot around the Botanic Gardens to create an album cover, and press assets for the release. The Begonia House is such a sick photo spot! 🌳

Shot on location on Mars, these photos for were for Ryan Brake - a jazz composer and guitarist now based in Tauranga. His Masters and PhD projects were both full length albums of his own compositions, featuring musicians from Aotearoa and around the globe. The first album is currently in the mixing stage, and from the little snippet I heard it's pretty cool! 🎸

Devon Welch Music had his single release party at the The Turoa Lodge Ohakune, and I traveled up there to take some 🎥 and 📸 - it was epic to squeeze in some travel before the lockdown! I hope you're all safe and well in your bubbles 💕

For the Wellington Jazz Festival, the Royal New Zealand Air Force Band played an amazing set at the Soundings Theatre at Te Papa - featuring Eugene Wolfin and Stephanie Paris as guest vocalists. This was a great gig, here are some photos I took 📸

About Us

Ben Stewart is a documentary photographer and videographer based in Wellington, New Zealand, specialising in creating photo and video content for a wide array of channels. Ben’s documentary style really flourishes in events and music performances, and he has experience photographing a wide range of genres from portraiture to commercial. He brings his full expertise and enthusiasm to every project he undertakes, and recently he has become known for his crisp images, creative event coverage, and his professionalism.

He is currently nearing the end of a marketing degree, and thus has a great understanding of what is needed in the current day and age of internet marketing. He has photographed numerous local and international artists such as Thundercat, The Black Seeds, The Richter City Rebels and Sky Canvas.

The video production side of the business has rapidly been growing, with Ben creating music videos for bands such as Raw Collective, Scorn of Creation and Jinz Moss. He is also focusing on creating commercials for small businesses, having worked with Play’n’learn, VicLink and Mazda among others.

He has also worked with many commercial clients including UberEats, Mazda, Cigna, Vodafone, Victoria University, The Spinoff, and more. He has documented Homegrown, One Love, and the Wellington Holi Festival.
