‘Alyssum’ by NZ composer Leila Adu-Gilmore (now based in New York) is a charming ode to her mother, Alison Barbara Gilmore, and her ‘darkly sharp wit’. It interwines themes of waves, pools and waterfalls with the more upbeat notes of bossa nova that occasionally make their presence felt.
