Please keep an eye out whanau. These are some of the more easier to recognize items that were taken. If you have any info, please get in touch. Stolen from Gisborne on the night of Friday 28th June.

There were many other things taken: Kai, clothing, camping equipment, fuel, boot carpeting, spare wheel with its jack and tools. We are still adding to the list.

STOLEN CAR UPDATE

Kia Ora whanau, first off a huge mihi to everyone who has reached out with offers and messages of support. It has meant the world to my daughter, Charyzma, and myself. What a ratsh*t thing to happen!

Anywho, check out the update. The car is connected to at least two other burglaries and I'm determined to get to the bottom of it!

STOLEN CAR HAS BEEN FOUND
Car was left at a local playground with a few smashed windows and the ignition ripped out. Everything inside it has been cleaned out including my generator, DeWalt tools and my daughter's sub/amp setup. My daughter was uninsured and my contents insurance won't cover my items that were taken.

If anyone can help with replacement or repairs, my daughter and I would really appreciate it.

HOW TO BREAK INTO A BUS.. GRACEFULLY

Tonight upon returning from a night skate, I found myself shut out of the bus thanks to a door lock that suddenly identified as fu**ed. Left with no other option, it was break and enter time... with grace of course.

Why is Gisborne Hospital dumping hundreds of Cov19 air purifiers? Many of these are brand new, still in packaging, and retail around $2000 each.

This morning I was parked at a workshop when a ute pulled in with a trailer load of these asking if anyone wanted one as they were off to be dumped. He probably had 40+ on the trailer and mentioned there were hundreds being thrown away and crushed. He'd picked them up from Gisborne hospital, who regularly call him to dump things.

More taxpayer money down the drain 👍

Hating this weather! Not so much because of the cold (especially now I have my diesel heater working), but more because the dark clouds really decrease the amount of solar power juicing me up.

It's at low power times like these (when I don't have my genny with me) that I have to make some careful choices, or I'll find myself without lights, water pumps and the fridge/freezer! Luckily there wasn't much in the freezer so it was an easy choice this time around :)

The last of the freezer meat has gone to good use, it's definitely a home made stew/soup kinda day!

ASTRA ZENICA TO WITHDRAW COVID VAX WORLDWIDE

Astra Zenica has announced the worldwide withdrawal of their Covid Vaccine. Some say this is due to decreased demand for the drug, but others point out this has come just months after Astra Zenica admitted in court, the connection between their vaccine and a rare but serious side effect called thrombosis with thrombocytopenia (TTS), which can cause long-term disability or even death.

Astra Zenica is currently being sued in a class action over claims its vaccine caused several cases of death and serious injury.

The man charged $16k for painting over the rainbow crossing on K Road in Auckland was Ford Connor, husband of Brian Tamaki's granddaughter, Eden.

The practice of taking action to preserve or improve one's own health.

The practice of taking an active role in protecting one's own well-being and happiness, in particular during periods of stress.

Stress management and mental health are tough ones whānau. Sometimes taking time out for yourself is easier said than done, and often its hard to prioritise self care above other life pressures.

But self care doesn't need to be a four week holiday in Bali. Self care can be ten minutes sitting alone in meditation, or maybe its baking cookies. Perhaps your self care consists of pulling weeds, or even locking yourself in the playpen with a cuppa while the kids destroy the house. F**k it. Leave em to it for 5mins!

DESTINY CHURCH MEMBERS PAINT OVER GISBORNE RAINBOW CROSSING

Members of Destiny Church blocked the main street in Gisborne, and set about painting over the feature Rainbow Crossing after the mayor refused to put a stop to a planned children's drag queen event.

Taranaki drag performers Erika and Coco Flash have been actively calling for counter protestors at their storytime for children events around NZ.

Brian Tamaki has also taken aim at a Hastings drag event for children in a recent post on X: "We will close You Down Hastings City Council..You have until 5pm Monday (*yesterday*) To Cancel the Drag Queens.."

Taking some time out to reconnect with nature, and what better way than a few nights camping in the beautiful hills of Waihi.

It is a good feeling to just "be". To take those long deep breaths of new energy, and fall asleep to the sounds of water trickling down a rocky stream.

We said hello to some fun wee critters along the way, and Jess was in her element racing through the long grass, enjoying the freedom that camping allows.

This truly is peace.

TVNZ STAFF TO LOSE JOBS

Article from RNZ as follows:

TVNZ will start talks from Friday with staff who will lose their jobs in the state broadcaster's bid to stay "sustainable".

It is proposed that up to 68 jobs will be cut which equates to 9 percent of its staff.

TVNZ chief executive Jodi O'Donnell told staff on Thursday that "tough economic conditions and structural challenges within the media sector" have hit the company's revenue.

She said "difficult choices need to be made" to ensure the broadcaster remained "sustainable".

Changes like those proposed today were incredibly hard, but TVNZ needed to ensure it was in a stronger position to transform the business to meet the needs of viewers in a digital world.

RNZ understands a hui for all TVNZ news and current affairs staff will be held at 1pm on Friday. This follows separate morning meetings for Re: News, Fair Go, and Sunday.

A TVNZ staffer told RNZ it was not yet clear what the meetings meant for those programmes - whether they were to be fully cut or face significant redundancies.

RNZ also understands 1News Tonight might also be affected.

'Dire implications for our democracy'
Sunday presenter Miriama Kamo said the news of jobs possibly being axed was awful.

"It's devastating not just for our business, it's devastating for what it means for our wider society."

She said with the likely demise of Newshub it has "dire implications for our democracy".

When cuts were being made in news programmes at the state broadcaster that indicated how dire things had become.

"I'm very very concerned about what the landscape looks like going forward."

Last week, TVNZ flagged further cost cutting as it posted a first half-year loss linked to reduced revenue and asset write offs.

The state owned broadcaster's interim financial results showed total revenue had fallen 13.5 percent from last year to $155.9 million.

Its net loss for the six months ended December was $16.8m compared to a profit of $4.8m the year before.

O'Donnell said the broadcaster's management had tried to cut operating costs over the last year but there was now no option than to look at job losses.

"There are no easy answers, and media organisations locally and globally are grappling with the same issues. Our priority is to support our people through the change process - we'll take the next few weeks to collect, consider and respond to feedback from TVNZers before making any final decisions."

A confirmed structure is expected to be finalised by early April.

The layoffs at TVNZ have come one week after the shock announcement by Warner Bros Discovery that it intended closing its Newshub operation by the end of June.

It means up to 300 people will lose their jobs.

Broadcasting Minister Melissa Lee told Checkpoint on Wednesday she had spoken to TVNZ bosses last week but it was not up to her to reveal details of the conversation.

She declined to comment on Newshub's offer to TVNZ to team up in some ways to cut costs, nor suggestions TVNZ could cut its 6pm news to half-an-hour or cancel current affairs programming.

FINAL UPDATE - CHICKADEE Little one has been going from strength to strength, getting louder and more active as each day passes. The constant "tweet tweet tweet" only stops when she's asleep, and even then, I swear I'm hearing her chirps in my dreams. Jess has continued to play the role of a protective mother bear. She began growling at Lollipop whenever she came to investigate the chirping, knowing full well she was eyeing Chickadee up for her next meal! Jess and Lollipop are great mates, but Jess made it clear that Chickadee was not to be touched. I was contacted by a lovely person who offered to take Chickadee into her home, where she has been raising baby chicks and ducklings for over a decade. Yesterday, I visited her home and saw all her beautiful animals who are obviously loved and well cared for. I'm confident Chickadee will be looked after here, and has already made some awesome chicky friends. It was such a pleasure to be part of Chickadee's life, she was so gorgeous and I learnt so much. I don't think Jess or myself will ever forget her. ❤️❤️❤️

CHICKADEE UNWELL Poor Chickadee wasn't huddled up to her bottle when I got up this morning, and she was feeling a bit cold. Her balance was off and she seemed somewhat floppy, which got me a little worried. Luckily she picked up a bit after some heating, drinking, eating and cuddling. Jess was on the ball as usual, refusing to leave the chicks side. She's been licking up oat crumbs Chickadee throws out of her plate, and is cleaning up her poops (I'm really not sure how healthy that is for Jess!). We had lots of fun bringing a bit of the garden into the camper so Chickadee could practice finding worms and bugs. Will be keeping her next to my bed in the camper tonight, to make sure she doesn't get cold again.
