Shortcrust Presents: .sss “Doom” single release ✨
Join us at the Newtown community centre to celebrate the release of “Doom”, the captivating new single from Japes, which will be released via .nz on March the 20th.

Japes is the project of Mia Kelly (she/they), a musician, producer, DJ and broadcaster based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington). They showcase a piece-meal approach to genre, juxtaposing treated guitars, sonic art and deep bass to concoct a thoughtful heady blend. Since releasing their debut EP Junk, Japes has made sparse appearances on local compilations (Strange Behaviour, Works for Loudspeakers) while developing into a live favourite in the capital, supporting Nabihah Iqbal (Ninja Tune) as well as performing at Cuba D**a and Newtown Festival.
Silva Spiral produces experimental art pop in Te Whanganui-a-Tara. Her music plays with the dichotomy of deep heavy synth bass and ethereal layered vocals, all while floating amidst a landscape of textured and hypnotic beats. She strives to strike a sonic balance between nostalgia and the unknown.
