When it comes to motivation, what most people do is they go to a battle with their mind.

They get stuck in a war of the voices in their head arguing back and forward with each other.

This is a trap I sometimes fall into too, but less often since Iโ€™ve wised up to it.

Going into battle with your mind is not a good approach because

Itโ€™s a time waster
Itโ€™s exhausting
Too often, the wrong voice wins.

A better approach is to think of motivation in terms of simple physics.

Motivation is physics - the strongest force will win.

With a strong team on the right end, winning the motivation game will be easy!

That's because you're looking at these actions in isolation. Don't be fooled! The trajectory of your life is shaped by these seemingly insignificant acts.

Never underestimate the power of the little actions you take each moment.

In PEPTALK WEEKLY this week, I talk about the knowing/doing gap. A real-life phenomenon that prevents people from doing the things they know are good for them.

I share a strategy from "The power of one-more". (a great book by ) to help you close your know/doing gap.

The power of one-more is this:

Rather than turning that thing (accomplishment) or feeling (mood) you want into a ginormous mountain to climb, where all you see is weeks, months, or years of dedication and sacrifice ahead....

You turn your full attention to doing one-more of something that contributes to that goal or mood.

It's about breaking down big goals, or big shifts in mood, into "one-more" small action.

Force yourself to take your eyes off the mountain โ›ฐ๏ธ and onto the next step ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ .

Just do one-more.
