Congratulations to Kent Belcher and Nigel McCulloch whose feature documentary Alien Weaponry: Kua Tupu Te Ara will have its world premiere in the Viewpoints section of 2024 Tribeca Festival 🎥✨

Kent Belcher’s first feature film as director, documents the life of a thrash metal band that sings in the Māori language, as they figure out how to navigate the music industry, culture, family, tour and each other.

Written and produced by Nigel McCulloh alongside director Kent Belcher. This film was supported by the New Zealand Film Commission.

Why “Hammerhead?” It’s a nickname given when Niel started working with Alien Weaponry and touring the world’s big metal festivals. “An old metal fan from way back”, his nickname comes from mangopare, the Māori name for the hammerhead shark and is a mythical guardian of his Ngāti Pikiao family. “It just kind of stuck”

Niel and Jette de Jong also work as a duo offering FOH sound, tour managment and merch sales for touring bands. As a team they have tour managed, mixed and merched at clubs, Arenas, and main stages at some of the biggest festivals in the world including Download, Wacken, Chicago Open Air, Hellfest, Summer Breeze, Metal Days to name a few. They have toured extensivly in Europe, North America and Australasia and have picked up a wealth of knowlege in these territories.
