Have you noticed something different about your Instagram grid today?
Yep, it's all about that vertical vibe now! 😅 But remember change is good - so Don't Panic!

Instagram's latest update has switched us from our comfy square frames to a more portrait-oriented grid. While it's a fresh look, it's definitely caused a bit of a scramble for us content creators!

If your grid's looking a bit off-kilter, don't stress! Here's a quick fix to help realign your posts:

To Adjust Your Preview: Head to any post that looks askew, tap the '...' in the top right corner, and select "Adjust Preview". This will give you the option to fit your post to suit the new layout and help tidy up most square posts so they are in full view, but provides you with a border.

To get get on the right track and sort your post image ratios moving forward, stick with the following:
➡️ Stories & Reels + Covers: Stick to a 9:16 ratio or 1080 x 1920 px
➡️ For all of your Carousel & Static Posts stick to a 4:5 ratio or 1080 x 1350 px

So if you're crafting new posts, consider updating your Canva dimensions to match these new specs—yes, they've had vertical options for a while now!

Change can be tough, but it also brings a chance to refresh and innovate our feeds.

And if you're worries about how your grid looks, try playing with the top 9 or so posts as what people see the most to align them as best you can to the new layout but don't go die in a ditch about it! So many are in the same boat and it's just about moving forward with the changes - Keep posting and carry on! 😉

We have loved kicking off the new year reading some incredible feedback from our clients after getting a bunch of video content out the door to wrap up 2024!

Giving our clients the opportunity to start the year strong online with slick and authentic feeling content that shows their human side, feels damn good!

And this year we predict that more than ever, your online presence needs to be about you showing your clients who you are and why you do what you do, not just telling them. Video content gives you the power to do this in so many fun and creative ways, hands down.

We are grateful beyond words to have had the year we have had and to now be having some downtime together to go take stock of it all! Thank you SO much to everyone in our orbit that has made 2024 just so flippin exciting and fun! This festive season we really can't wipe the smiles off our faces, and that feels pretty special.

It's so important to work hard and play even harder, so we are off for the holidays to go take more snaps of our kids for a change!

We hope you all get spoiled rotten, eat and drink as much as you like today and are surrounded by the people in your world that make you feel good! 🫶

This has been us this week! Sitting down collaborating at the laptops as we rock through creating the last series of content for the year! 🙌🏻

We definitely have different eyes for different details so it’s so cool getting to work together to find the best mix of visuals and audio that helps to take our client video content to the next level. Because right to the bitter end, we want to make sure you look good AND sound natural & authentic 👌🏻

And sure, as creatives and a husband and wife team we sometimes have our differences in opinion! But to get a taste of how we feel when we both find a place in each project where we are super happy after some back and forth together… Swipe right! ➡️😆

2024 has been about working damn hard together, but never forgetting to have fun! 😉

We could not be more stoked with the brand photos that we have just received from the talented 📸 They have captured how we roll as a husband and wife team so well!

Because when camera's are involved, we understand more than most that the nerves on set can be high! But the way we operate in the office and on set for our clients is the same - we keep it light hearted, we bring the energy and we support each other to get the best outcomes.

One of the highlights for us this year has to be all the amazing people we have got to hang with on set! 🙌🏻

We think we are so lucky to work in a community where collaborations and referral opportunities are so strong. People see how you work, they get your vibe and you better believe that they talk! And when you do good mahi, you tend to connect with others that do the same - Wellington is absolutely where its at!

We loved this shoot last month where we got to capture content for and combine the session with a branding shoot with the talented - Looking forward to showing you all the slick looking content rolling out to share the vibe from shoot day! 🎬

Our Story

Riddle Photo & Film is owned and operated by Emmet Riddle who has a passion and an eye for photo and film. Emmet moved to Wellington in 2012, where he completed a Certificate in the Introduction to Film and Television Production through Whitireia Film and Television School in 2013. This one-year course programme covers training in directing, writing, editing, camera, lighting, sound, Art Dept and production management among other specialties. Emmet completed a number of projects throughout the year, as well as writing the script for one of the two Grad Films that the crew made. Emmet was commended for his talents in several areas of the programme. In 2014 Emmet worked at WingNut Films as part of the research team dedicated to the development Sir Peter Jackson's Great War Exhibition. Emmet is now focussing his talents and passions on building his photography and videography portfolio by providing his services on a part-time basis across social, corporate and sporting events in and around the Wellington region. Emmet is a gifted and personable professional who is easy to work with and holds your event requirements in the utmost importance.
