Some of the most stunning scenery you can find in Fiji is out on the remote islands. Off the beaten track and outside the regular tourist spots.
Travel to some of the least visited spots is truly an amazing experience and one that is about to become harder once the well known Fijian Cruise company closes its doors on these in October this year.
We would definitely recommend a small ship cruising adventure but you’ll need to be super quick.
Two months to go!!🌺🌺

Before the sun rises you can capture colour really well in a top down shot. When you’re not wrestling with the harsh sunlight causing highlights and shadows everywhere. Just an even exposure of light gives that clean look. Of course when you’re wanting a shot of water I use a polarising filter to reduce haze or reflections in water. Much like your polarising sunglasses. Thanks for the filters

What a beautiful city to call our home. With the ever alluring backdrop of Mount Maunganui this city we have witnessed grow over many years has become a part of our lives. Been a part of the furniture here since 1980 and all though we are always mesmerised by the beauty surrounding us it doesn’t compare to the beauty in the people we meet. We shot this (amongst others) from a helicopter just after sunrise on one of the coldest days in winter, add to that the doors were off the choppa substantially increasing the wind chill factor however the incredibly talented team we took with us Ciska from and Grayson from all wrapped up like a burrito with thermals, possum socks, fingerless gloves, 2 layers of hoodies managed to exceed the brief and pulled off a stunning display of what I call a slice of pure magic. Thank you team your dedication to your profession has paid off and couldn’t have done it without you. Also special thanks to the talented pilot Will .

He aha te mea nui? Māku e kii atu, he tāngata, he tāngata, he tāngata. What is the most important thing in the world? Well, let me tell you, it is people, it is people, it is people.

Just before sunrise on the morning of Matariki captured Mauao before it was caught by the light.
The blue hues in the background are the shadow of the earth as the sun is still just below the horizon. The pink hues are where the light has illuminated the cloud/ haize making it a blue / pink reverse sunset.
Sometimes at sunrise or sunset it’s worth taking a look in the opposite direction. 💙💗

Youth Search and Rescue is about teaching youth primarily about how to search and rescue missing people but more than that it teaches collaboration and working together as a team for the common good of mankind. “synergy” is the word that comes to mind. This was a joint exercise with StJohns Ambulance, Cadets and Youth Search and Rescue.
Volunteering to help our fellow humans is something that most of us appreciate when we are the ones being helped or found in this case, but the challenge to us all is how much time do we volunteer to helping others without any reward. Yeah I’m asking myself this, typing my thoughts out loud so to speak.
Recently I observed drivers in Vietnam, on the surface it looks like chaos by our western standards, but look deeper and you realize the t***s on the horn aren’t out of anger or road rage but a simple notification on making someone aware of your vehicle. Their driving synchronisation is based on courtesy, of working together to get the task done and it works.
Just like this group of young people I witnessed working together to find the missing people, giving first aid and bringing them back to shelter.
Anyway I can’t share any images with identifiable youths in it for obvious reasons but wanted to show you what I learned about the day.

Could you ask for a better day to celebrate Matariki?
The other question this morning was can you get a park at Mount Maunganui before sunrise, well you needed to be early to find a park at get up Mauao or Leisure Island or just enjoying a splash in the ocean. (Yes there were some) I witnessed so many people out celebrating a beautiful winters day, kayaking, boating, walking, running or cycling. It was chilly but the predawn glow on the horizon promised a beautiful blue sky for sunrise and the days events to unfold. The are on today as well. So what to do with the rest of the day. I’ll be filming around the Tauranga region, call it my job or call it fun it really doesn’t matter. Enjoy your day no matter who you are or what you choose to call it.

Picton is a beautiful town surrounded by the amazing Marlborough sounds. The port where the inter islander arrives from the North Island and the gateway to all your South Island adventures. It’s a destination to cruise ships visiting the country with tours heading to the vineyards etc. Definitely a boaters paradise with so many different bays to fish or just visit.

I mean have you actually been to Bali if you haven’t got a picture of yourself in a red dress being swung off a cliff? 💃 (perhaps some shots of that to follow?)
is a captivating natural tourist destination in the heart of Bali, offering a unique experience amidst stunning natural beauty. Enjoy an unforgettable adventure with various exciting activities such as giant swings, walking on suspension bridges, and cycling above the sky. With various Instagram-worthy photo spots and dining places serving local food and fresh beverages. A day pass to this beautiful place will set you back 50,000IDR (NZ$5) so definitely worth it. Make sure you don’t bring in any of your own food or drink but drones are more than welcome here.
The pool area pictured is called and is included in the day pass, this is an adults only area. The food was great quality and is not over priced compared to western standards.
Overall we were super impressed with the location and a highlight where we could definitely spend a whole day at this place.

HoiAn - a world of its own.
HoiAn old town to be specific is a must do experience in Vietnam. This charming town is very rich in history as a trading place. Mustard coloured buildings surround the place and lanterns adorn the streets. The River running through it makes this a very special place to visit. Some could even say it’s a world of its own. The evening come alive with the nightly markets and the ambience not to be missed. The dish they specialise in is called Cau Lau which is a beautiful noodle dish made from the water of the local well.
Bel Marina HoiAn Resort is where we stayed while staying close to the old town. You can see it in the bottom half catching the sunrise and standing 7 stories high with the rooftop pool on top.

Southern lights as captured from Warkworth New Zealand. This was a first time for us, seeing the southern lights with the naked eye was something we never expected to see so far north but there she was Lady Aurora in all her glory waiting to be captured. With no particular plans for a drone shoot that day I was pleased that I always carry at least one drone where ever I go. Just for an occasion that may arise and this was one of them. Flying a drone at night in New Zealand has a few extra things to think about. Firstly limited visibility of the drone and its surroundings secondly the rules surrounding flying after civil twilight: unless you have a 102 and have permission specifically for night flying then you must fly shielded. DM me for more information if you are genuinely interested. Anyway was amazing to see the Aurora Australis on May 11th.

So if you were outside tonight in New Zealand you would have seen the southern lights set a record in visibility. So initially I was wondering if we would see the southern lights as far north as Warkworth? Well yes it was visible with the naked eye and cellphones were taking impressive night shots. So this is a series of drone shots taken shielded at the Cement works at Warkworth. 25 shots stitched together which I will do manually to improve. Each shot was an 8 second photograph at F2.8 using 6400iso
You couldn’t tell in the viewfinder if anything was going to come out till the process was finished.
So this is an abstract shot, I have not adjusted any colour whatsoever, it’s interesting how the southern lights are shown in all 180 degrees. Absolutely a fascinating night and extremely cold out there.

Omanawa Falls is such a geometrically beautiful waterfall, I can’t explain it but is a stunner from every angle. Loving how the new track is open for visitors to view from the fantastic viewing platforms. Situated West of Tauranga and well worth the trip if you are in the area. The upgraded track has two new platforms, the original viewpoint takes about 15 minutes to get to, another 5 minutes and a few steps gets you to the first platform with incredible views, then for the fit bunny’s you can walk a heap of steps down and up to the platform above the falls as shown in this picture .

Today we were privileged to be invited back onboard Majestic Princess for its final visit to Tauranga. From the deck of the Majestic Princess Cruise ship, the sight of Mount Maunganui takes on a whole new perspective. It's one of those moments where you realize the beauty of a place can be appreciated from both land and sea.

There are a number of different ways you can explore the world famous Milford Sounds. It really doesn’t matter which way you choose to get there they’re all totally spectacular. We have driven in through the Homer tunnel surrounded by waterfalls and snow, we have flown in and landed at the Milford airport (a beautiful view over the mountains and past Sutherland Falls is something you’ll never forget) then there is cruising in Milford. An absolute must do for everyone visiting New Zealand (or even for those that live here)
So if you haven’t all ready now is the time to make that booking to Fiordland

The Old Copper Mine on Kawau Island. A thin copper lode was discovered on Kawau Island in 1842, and a mine was opened in 1846. Over the next two decades, about 2,500 tonnes of ore was mined and smelted for copper. At the water’s edge are the 20-metre chimney and ruins of the building that housed the steam engine and pump, this was used to keep the mine free of water.
