The town of Tokoroa in south Waikato will never forget 30 June 2025, as the day the Kinleith Mill's paper-making machinery was turned off, resulting in the loss of about 150 jobs. Oji Fibre Solutions says since the decision was made earlier in the year, they have worked with their people and their unions to finalise a new mill structure, determine exact role requirements for pulp-only production and complete the employment selection process. About 150 jobs were lost today as the paper processing machines at the Kinleith Pulp and Paper Mill in Tokoroa, which has been in operation for 71 years, were turned off. A special congratulations to our U16s who won their grand final in overtime 🙌 what a thriller! They are now the Matariki Maori 3v3 National Champions 🏆
