At The Historic Village, Tauranga plenty of music with the National Jazz Festival Tauranga and Jazz Village. Here’s some All Girl Big Band from Christchurch.

Jack Claridge, age 99, is ‘vibing' out with his groovy jazz beats on the vibrophone this morning. Jack has been around the block when it comes to jamming out to jazz. Born in 1925, he has played drums, the double bass and played piano for the Bay Big Band in Tauranga during the 47 years he lived here. Jack even had his own music cabaret in Wellington called Claridge's by Candlelight in the 1950s and 60s. It was during this time that Jack bought a set of vibraphones, and is the same ones he plays today 60 years This morning he is performing with Trevor Braunias on guitar, Jill Leighton on vocals, and two other musicians. Head on down to The Historic Village, Tauranga today for plenty of jazz with the National Jazz Festival Tauranga.

Happy New Year! Fireworks at Blake Park, Mount Maunganui. There were fireworks display at 9.30pm at Matua, Mount Maunganui, Pāpāmoa and downtown Tauranga. At Greerton there was a laser light show because of nearby horses.
