This week's edition is out now plus all our stories are available to read online at www.tauponews.co.nz.

We are looking forward to bringing you coverage of all the activities planned as part of Tūwharetoa’s inaugural Ahurei festival this weekend. Make sure you head on down to Riverside Park on Saturday for that unique celebration and for art lovers there is an associated exhibition and competition on at Taupō Museum and Art Gallery.

It’s also back to school for many of our rangatahi and hopefully it’s been smooth transition, especially for those stepping into a new environment.

It is with great excitement 🙌 that we announce that the Taupō & Tūrangi News is now online -> www.tauponews.co.nz

Carrying on where the Taupō & Tūrangi Herald left off before the holidays, the first print edition of the new and independently published Taupō & Tūrangi News hit the streets on the 23rd Jan. The second edition came out yesterday and then today another milestone with www.tauponews.co.nz going live.

It takes a village to raise a community newspaper and we have been humbled by the support of readers and other local businesses.

This online edition of Taupō & Tūrangi News is brought to you in partnership with Korio.

Watch this space for more developments as we bring you stories from across the Central Plateau region.

As Samuel Clemens, aka Mark Twain is often slightly misquoted as saying; "The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated". That has proved to be the case with the Taupō & Tūrangi Herald too. We are perfectly healthy and will be back in letterboxes next year after a break for Christmas, albeit under local ownership. Looking forward to telling your stories in 2025. Thanks for your support Taupō, Tūrangi and everyone else who calls this giant cauldron 'home'. Dan Hutchinson - editor.
