Government has just announced that it will be offering small business interest free & low interest loans to help with small business cashflow.

This will be administered by IRD and available to firms who employ 50 staff or less

Loan Applications open from May 12

The loans are intended to meet business "immediate cashflow need" and to meet their fixed costs.

The most companies can borrow will be $10,000 plus an additional $1,800 for each full-time employee they have

Loans will be interest free if paid back within a year.
After that interest will be charged at 3% per annually for a maximum term of 5 years

Repayments will not be required for the first two years

Eligibility criteria is the same as the wage subsidy

Also available to those that are self employed who will be able to borrow up to $11,800

Today the government announced what Alert 🚨 level 3 will look like and who can open

Now is the prefect time to put in place your Health and Safety plans of how you will manage the risks for staff - we will still need to maintain social distancing

If your business is reliant on face to face contact you will not be able to open for business under Alert 🚨 level 3

This is great news to hear that the QLDC has extended the payment time frame for the next instalment of our rates, sure this will help many people

Payment options for the next QLDC rates instalment will be different to those in the past, as we understand COVID-19 has brought considerable change and uncertainty to Aotearoa New Zealand and our community. With this has come the unfortunate reality that many find themselves out of work or on a reduced household income, and in need of additional support.

While we are unable to waive rates instalments because they fund essential community services and infrastructure projects, we can offer an extended timeframe for payment which may make life a little easier for those who need it. We will extend the period for payment of this rates instalment beyond 29 May up until 31 July 2020. This will mean that no penalties will apply if rates are paid in full by 31 July (see below).

If you receive weekly Working for Families payments and are expecting a payment on either Tuesday 14 April or Wednesday 15 April, you will receive your payment early, on Thursday 9 April or Friday 10 April. Your payments will continue as normal for the current tax year (1 April 2020 to 31 March 2021) from Tuesday 21 April or Wednesday 22 April.
