We are still on cloud 9 after attending the Rotorua A&P Show last weekend.
It was great to be able to show our alpacas after a long time without shows in our region. With over 120 fleeces and 100 alpacas in breed, there was great competition.
Judge Diane Marks from Christchurch was her usual passionate and professional self.
In the breed ring we did something that we don't think has been done by a New Zealand breeder before. We won 4 colour championships so therefore had 4 of the 6 alpacas in the Supreme Line-up.

Saturday 30 January 2021 was the Rotorua A & P Show and Q TAZ ALPACAS enjoyed a great day catching up with friends and of course competing in the show ring.
Our highlights were:

Q TAZ Kiss you All Over - 1st in class (brown junior female)
RESERVE CHAMPION BROWN HUACAYA

Q TAZ Midnight Rendezvous - 1st in class (black junior male)
CHAMPION BLACK HUACAYA

Q TAZ Firestone - 1st in class (intermediate brown male)
CHAMPION BROWN HUACAYA

Our expert judge was Molly Gardner from Akaroa in New Zealand.

After a very busy weekend at the national alpaca show in Christchurch, the boys were a hit at Aldan Lodge Motel in Picton this evening. A cosy night before our 8am ferry crossing tomorrow

Q TAZ Midnight Rendezvous is now 4 months old and we are very pleased with how he is developing. His fleece is extremely lustrous and has the most amazing handle.
He stands proud and attracts attention in the paddock 😍

Princess is so proud of her gorgeous boy "Midnight Rendezvous"
He is just what we ordered when his sire, multi award winning Sunsetestate Presley, was here on a working holiday :)
Thank you Denise and Bruce Taplin of Bruden Alpacas for allowing him to stay again this year. This time we have ordered a female. Fingers crossed.

Q TAZ Kriptonite stole everyone's heart at the Kumeu Show last weekend when he was awarded CHAMPION MID/DARK FAWN HUACAYA. He had just turned 7 months of age and he really looked the part.
Judge Angela Preuss commented that his fleece was very fine and dense with great style and lustre and his conformation was excellent.
After she presented him with his champion ribbon she said to me that he was so cute and soft that she could almost take him home. That's not bad coming from a suri breeder!

It was another hot sunny day at the Morrinsville A & P Show last Saturday. We were very excited that our beautiful 6 month old brown female, Q TAZ Billie Jean, won her class and then won Champion Brown Huacaya of the Show.
We were also absolutely thrilled that Billie Jean was awarded the Linley Yeoman Trophy for finest fleece for age. Fond memories of Linley. We think she would have loved Billie
Further results:
Q TAZ Rhiannon was awarded second place in the junior female, brown class and
Q TAZ Little Sister was placed 3rd.
Q TAZ Riptide won his Junior Male, Brown class and was awarded Reserve Champion Brown of the show.
Q TAZ Barbados won his class - Intermediate Male, Black.

What a day we had at the Pukekohe Show :) Results:
Q TAZ Little Sister - 1st Jnr female, brown
Q TAZ Rhiannon - 2nd Jnr female, brown
Q TAZ Billie Jean - 3rd Jnr female, brown
Little Sister went on to win Champion Junior Female.
Rhiannon went on to win Reserve Champion Junior Female.
Q TAZ Riptide - 1st Jnr male, brown
Riptide then won Champion Junior Male.
BEST BROWN of the show was awarded to
Q TAZ Little Sister.
But wait - there's more !!! Little Sister was awarded BEST COLOURED HUACAYA OF THE SHOW :) :)
We are so proud of our beautiful brown team.

We were thrilled at the Rotorua Show last Saturday that our junior female, Q TAZ Little Sister, was awarded Champion Brown Huacaya and our junior female, Q TAZ Rhiannan, was awarded Reserve Champion Brown Huacaya.
Thank you Denise Taplin for taking Rhiannan into the ring and Judge Peter Kennedy Gane for your glowing comments.
Q TAZ Riptide was placed 1st in his class of junior brown males.
All three of these gorgeous browns are sired by Forestglen Seth. Feeling very proud of them all :) Art Cattell, thank you for the great photo.

This gorgeous boy came all the way from Auckland to visit for national alpaca day. He even shared his alpaca birthday cake with us 😍. We had a busy day talking to many visitors about the joys of owning alpacas.
