I never looked back': Sully Paea

Niuean youth-worker Sully Paea has dedicated his life to working with youth, founding the East Tamaki Youth and Resource Centre between the late 1970s and 1986.

Paea said he was lost. He battled alcoholism and pushed through a diagnosis of depression. He had a violent criminal career until he met his wife which changed him completely.

Jade is a Vet Nurse who previously worked at Pakuranga Vet Clinic but is now based in the Bay of Plenty.

Outside of work Jade enjoys reading, surfing, hanging out at the beach and spending time with her dogs.

This is Jade’s first trip to Niue and she is very excited for this experience!

She has wanted to go to Niue for a long time and has witnessed behind the scenes work that goes into the trips.

She has heard many stories and been in the midst of all the excitement before and after previous trips whilst at Pakuranga Vets.

“I am most looking forward to meeting the locals and their beloved pets.”

Being able to help and make a difference will be very rewarding. She can’t wait to get over to Niue and get stuck in!
