A colossal blow, offering more Agricultural jobs in Southland. Then somehow moved to Christchurch. And now cancelled?

A plant-based alternative milk factory was initially planned for Southland, then it was revealed it was heading to Canterbury, and now it appears it won't happen at all.

““I often remind people that sugar is vegan ... some people are ‘anti-vegan’ or come in with all these pre-conceptions ... but we have had such a positive response, there is demand, and people are open to trying it.””

An Invercargill couple have started a fully vegan bakery, and by summer expect to have plant-based cheese rolls and pies on the menu.

At the moment 80% of the oat milk drunk in New Zealand is imported from overseas, despite oats being grown in New Zealand.”

The Government has backed Southland-based oat milk producer New Zealand Functional Foods through a $6 million investment.

Wanting your feedback please on behalf of my friend Thomas Joseph ... Hi Jenny, A few of us are planning to start a Vegan Cafe' in Invercargill. Hoping to start with Breakfast and Lunch. Take away lunch boxes which can be picked up on the way to work may be part of it. Vegan homemade ice-creams and desserts, pies etc. May run weight loss programs as well but still in the planning stage. Pricing will be very affordable. Would you and your friends be happy to share your thoughts? Need to get an idea of the interest in Vegan options in Invercargill. Happy to be contacted on Facebook. Thanks.

Top Secret samples of the vegan CookieTime cookie : available at the christchurch factory 🙂. I checked the shelves, asked if they had any....and there’s a secret stash in boxes behind the counter! Be quick, there may only be a few left.

It’s just like I remember. Pretty darn neat, they’ll be commercially available MARCH 🙂. Founder Michael Mayell is now vegan, and we’ve been asking the company politely for years if they’d do one vegan. Soon....soon :-)
